Little John has the biggest win of his career.
John Daly II, the son of two-time major champion John Daly, won the 2025 Southern Amateur on Saturday at Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas. Blessings is the home course for the Arkansas Razorbacks, where Daly II will be a senior this coming season. He won by five shots over Mississippi State's Garrett Endicott, who led after the first three rounds.
Daly II shot 4-under 68 in the final round, finishing at 10 under for the tournament. His 68 on Saturday was tied for the lowest score in the final round. He was also the only player to shoot under par in all four rounds.
The Southern Amateur is the fifth tournament in the Elite Amateur Golf Series, a group of seven top amateur tournaments leading into the 2025 U.S. Amateur at Olympic Club next month.
This spring, Daly II picked up his first collegiate win for the Razorbacks at the Columbia Spring Invitational, playing his final five holes in 6 under to win.
Up next in the Elite Amateur Series is the Pacific Coast Amateur at Eugene Country Club, set for July 22-25.

Tom Izzo, John Calipari seen sitting courtside together at Peach Jam

What do you think these pair of hall of famers were chatting about at Peach Jam this past weekend? If you ever want to run into a pair of hall of famers, you just need to go to recruiting events. It's the middle of the offseason and peak recruiting season so of course Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo is out and about pursuing potential future Spartans. This week, that included a stop at the annual monster recruiting event EYBL Nike Peach Jam in North August, S.C. Izzo was one of many notable coaches on hand for the recruiting event, and he was spotted sitting courtside next to a fellow hall of famer: John Calipari of Arkansas. Thank you to college basketball reporter and insider John Fanta for snapping a picture of the two chatting on the sidelines during Peach Jam. Check out the picture from Fanta below: What do you think these two are chatting about? It could be about the upcoming reported home-and-home Michigan State and Arkansas will be playing over the next two season. The Spartans are expected to host the Razorbacks at the Breslin Center this upcoming season, and then will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. during the 2026-27 season. Both Izzo and Calipari have been around the game of basketball for a long time, and have both experienced a ton of success on the hardwood. But it is still always cool to me to see them at events like this with boots on the ground recruiting as hard as they did when they first started 30-plus years ago. And no wonder, as his son, John Daly II, not only competed in the prestigious Southern Amateur Championship, but won it by five strokes. The proud father was quick to express his happiness with this result, posting congratulations to his son on his social media profiles. Daly II played as one of the local heroes in the Southern Amateur Championship, played at Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas. John Daly's son currently plays for the Arkansas Razorbacks in NCAA golf, which has deepened his already strong ties to that state. Daly II, who started the final round in second place, two strokes behind Garrett Endicott, showed his best golf in the end. Not only did he recover the deficit, but he also pulled a five-stroke lead over Endicott, who had sunk to a 75 on Saturday. The Hogs star carded six birdies and two bogeys (68) during the final round to run away with the title. He had previously posted rounds of 70, 71, and 69. John Daly II's Steady Rise to Golf Stardom Daly's son's victory at Blessings has confirmed his current great moment in his golf career. Let's recall that he was the star of the Arkansas Razorbacks last season, just like his father, who played for the same university from 1984 to 1987.
