Aeon Credit's Q1 net profit falls 27pct on losses from digital bank
The group said in a statement today that Aeon Bank's losses were a result of ongoing investments in product development, IT infrastructure, and operating expenses, which align with its roadmap to deliver differentiated digital banking products.
"These are upfront investments in technology, talent, and marketing to support long-term growth," it said.
However, Aeon Credit's quarterly revenue improved to RM599.92 million from RM522.26 million previously, driven by stronger loan and financing growth.
Earnings per share fell to 15.19 sen from 20.84 sen in 1Q 2025.
Meanwhile, Aeon Credit recorded a 13.9 per cent growth in total transaction and financing volume, reaching RM2.25 billion in 1Q 2026 from RM1.98 billion in 1Q 2025.
The group said this growth was underpinned by its continued strategic expansion into the middle-income segment.
Targeted marketing campaigns have improved both the payment business and personal financing, with growth of 22 per cent and 23 per cent respectively compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
Correspondingly, gross financing receivables rose to RM14.63 billion, an increase of 15.6 per cent year-on-year, driven by the payment business, personal financing, and vehicle financing.
The group's non-performing loans ratio improved to 2.57 per cent, down from 2.64 per cent as of February 2025.
On prospects, Aeon Credit said it continues to adopt a cautious approach in its business operations and remains prudent, focusing on growing quality assets via middle-income segment expansion while closely managing credit risks within its financing portfolios.
The group said it is also strengthening its digital infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and build a customer-centric ecosystem through the Aeon Living Zone.
Ongoing collaborations within the group aim to deepen customer engagement, expand market reach, and strengthen brand loyalty through a unified digital ecosystem.
"Looking ahead, barring any unforeseen developments, Aeon Credit remains cautiously optimistic about sustaining resilient business performance for the financial year ending Feb 28, 2026.
"The group will continue to prioritise operational efficiency and pursue strategic investments, including in technology, to drive long-term sustainable growth," it said.

Four Gombak industrial land parcels for sale at RM38m, company plans payout amid lack of new investment options
KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — Jasa Kita Bhd's wholly owned subsidiary, JKB Development Sdn Bhd, today entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Logik Damai Sdn Bhd to dispose of four parcels of freehold industrial land for RM38 million. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the four parcels, measuring 14,086 square metres and including a single-storey detached warehouse and a guard house, are located in Gombak, Selangor. 'The group is principally involved in the trading and distribution of industrial tools and equipment, including electric power tools, electric motors, mechanical hand tools, mechanical air tools, and bathroom products. 'As part of its business operations, part of the subject property is currently being used as a warehouse to store inventories,' it said. In conjunction with the proposed disposal, the company intends to revise the utilisation of proceeds from the earlier disposal by JKB Development of a leasehold industrial land in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, which was sold for RM43.08 million and completed on June 4, 2024. It also announced a proposed special cash dividend of 12 sen per ordinary share in Jasa Kita, amounting to approximately RM53.95 million, to be distributed to entitled shareholders on a date to be determined and announced later. The company said the proposed disposal and tenancies would allow the group to meet its objectives without disrupting its existing business operations. These objectives include unlocking and monetising the value of the subject property, improving the group's financial position and performance, while allowing continued use of the property for ongoing business activities through the proposed tenancies. 'With regard to the proposed variation and special dividend, and considering the lack of suitable business opportunities and assets, the company believes distributing the proceeds as a special dividend is an appropriate way to reward shareholders,' it added. Barring any unforeseen circumstances and subject to the necessary approvals, the proposals are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. TA Securities Holdings Bhd has been appointed as the principal adviser for the proposed disposal and variation. — Bernama

KUCHING (July 11): Sarawak-based engineering firm, SSK Resources (M) Sdn Bhd, has experienced significant growth and transformation since participating in the Bumiputera Enterprise Enhancement Programme (BEEP) Plus implemented by SME Corp. Malaysia. In 2023, the company which involved primarily in the oil and gas industry, received assistance through the BEEP Plus programme with grant amounting to RM248,680.00 under the Productivity and Automation Enhancement component. The programme has enabled the company to achieve critical improvements across operations and service delivery, thus positioning them as a leading player in the regional market and strengthening its long-term growth potential and international competitiveness. 'Joining the programme gave our company the confidence and encouragement to move forward,' she told The Borneo Post. BEEP Plus provides assistance in the form of a matching grant for micro enterprises in Sabah and Sarawak. The product has received positive feedback from medical professionals, public and private hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and teaching hospitals in Sarawak. Another notable benefit gained from the programme, Marilyn said, was the greater flexibility for on-site 3D scanning, which significantly enhanced project execution. Marilyn with SSK Resources director Fatimah Abdul Latip. Looking to the future, the company is planning to expand its marine services into Vietnam and Singapore and introduce WISTERIA in Brunei and Thailand besides the domestic market. 'This programme has helped us increase productivity, reduce costs and access international markets through improved service delivery,' said Marilyn. Eligible expenses under BEEP Plus include product packaging improvement; productivity and automation; brand development and promotion; online applications; e-commerce; e-payment and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems; product development and innovation; purchase of raw material and equipment; rental of business premises; renovation works; and export-related training, courses, seminars or conferences.
