Black Cats can take final the distance
Sheffield United are 13/10 favourites to win this Championship play-off final, having finished third in the table, 14 points clear of Sunderland.
The Black Cats ended their campaign in poor form, losing their last five games, but bounced back with a 3-2 aggregate win over Coventry City in the semi-finals.
The two meetings between the sides both ended in home wins, the Blades winning 1-0 at Bramall Lane in November but losing 2-1 at the Stadium of Light in January. The pressure will be on them after they missed out on automatic promotion and I think that Sunderland will make this tight.
Bookings bet looks set to land
With a place in the Premier League at stake, the winners can bank on around £220m extra revenue next season.
Such high stakes promise to make it a tense occasion and I am expecting the referee Chris Kavanagh to have a busy afternoon. Sunderland ranked third in the Championship's disciplinary table for bad behaviour, while Sheffield United were seventh.
In this season's first meeting between the sides, in November, six yellow cards and two reds were shown, while the reverse fixture in January featured five bookings. On both occasions, a bet on 50+ booking points would have been successful.

Hampshire kept chipping away, with highly-rated quicks Sonny Baker and Eddie Jack each claiming three wickets, but hands were shaken with Worcestershire on 303 for eight after 52.5 overs. Nottinghamshire sit nine points adrift of leaders Surrey after being held to a draw by Somerset at Trent Bridge. With a 106-run first-innings lead in a high-scoring match, Nottinghamshire needed to make inroads into Somerset's batting. But while Calvin Harrison took three wickets, Somerset getting to 200 for five meant a stalemate was agreed. Ed Barnard went from an overnight 90 to 108 for Warwickshire, but mid-afternoon rain meant their match at Essex petered out to a draw. In Division Two, Glamorgan remain on course for promotion after claiming their first win at Emirates Old Trafford since 1993. Any hopes of Lancashire reeling in 473 from an overnight 226 for five were soon extinguished despite Marcus Harris' 61 as the Red Rose were all out for 318. Leaders Leicestershire were frustrated by Ben Compton's double hundred as their clash at Kent ended in a draw. James Milner to wear number 20 at Brighton in memory of Diogo Jota
James Milner will wear the number 20 shirt at Brighton this season in memory of the late Diogo Jota, describing his former Liverpool team-mate as a 'great friend'. The Portuguese forward died aged 28 last month in a car crash, alongside his brother Andre Silva, just weeks after helping Liverpool clinch Premier League title glory. Liverpool have retired the number 20 jersey worn by Jota in his five seasons at Anfield, three of them alongside Milner before the veteran England midfielder moved to Brighton in the summer of 2023.
