Dad 'caught with cocaine' jailed for 40 years in hellhole Dubai prison

Daily Record16-05-2025
Sam Dorman was arrested in a police sting after he was allegedly in possession of half a gram of cocaine, before police found more drugs at his Dubai home.
A British dad allegedly caught with cocaine in Dubai has been jailed for 40 years in a hellhole prison.
The family of Sam Dorman are said to be "understandably distraught" following the tattoo artist's sentencing. After a police sting earlier this month, the 33-year-old man was taken into custody, it is understood. Half a gram of cocaine was reportedly found in Dorman's possession by officers, reports the Mirror.

An additional 28g of the Class A substance was discovered at his home, according to reports today. On British shores, that total is estimated to be worth around £2,000, however in the United Arab Emirates it could sell for three times more. Dubai is well-renowned for its zero tolerance when it comes to illegal substances.

Dorman migrated to Dubai in 2022 from Glossop, Derbyshire, to start a business, it is believed. However, his family back in the UK are understood to be worried for the tattoo artist and barber following his sentencing.
The father will serve his time at Al-Awir Central Prison, it is said, which is infamous for its poor conditions and brutality. It is where British teen Marcus Fakana was detained late last year.
In the United Arab Emirates, sex between those under 18 is illegal. Marcus had sex with the London girl, who was one month away from being 18, during a family holiday in August. Her mum found out after discovering messages sent between the pair and reported him to the local police.
Speaking to The Sun, a source close to Dorman and his family said: "He's got a young daughter in the UK, so to be serving 40 years is really sad. He won't be out till he's in his 70s. The prison's a hellhole and Sam's family are understandably distraught. When they spoke to him, it looked like he'd taken a battering. I just hope someone can help him."

The insider said dad-of-one Dorman "got in with the wrong crowd" since moving to the United Arab Emirates. The source believed a customer, to whom Dorman had sold drugs, had been apprehended by the police. They claimed police then took his phone and messaged the tattoo artist, in a bid to pretend to be the buyer and asked for more.
This then reportedly led to Dorman's arrest and he was eventually jailed on Monday, according to reports today. The Mirror has contacted the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for comment and further detail. The FCDO has, however, told The Sun: "We are supporting a British man detained in Dubai."
The case comes as another Brit, Bella May Culley, could spend the next 20 years in a hellhole jail in Georgia. The teenager, from Billingham in County Durham, was arrested in Georgia this week on suspicion of trying to smuggle drugs into the nation.

Portuguese police revealed today that the 18-year-old Brit had been robbed and hospitalised. The group is said to have stolen the victim's phone, worth around €600 (£525) Cops said five of the attackers - all aged 17 - have been arrested. Another four were identified by police. The violent crime occurred at the party resort of Albufeira. Two of the teenage suspects were filmed kicking their victim in the footage posted online. CCTV footage in the area where the assault took place is understood to have been key to the identification of those responsible. The unnamed victim is now back in the UK. Confirming the arrests, a spokesman for the GNR police force said: "The Faro Territorial Command arrested five 17-year-old men for robbery in the municipality of Albufeira. "The military police carried out police investigations that enabled them to identify and locate the suspects. 'During the police investigation, the GNR intercepted the five suspects and arrested them, also seizing five mobile phones. 'The detainees were due to appear on July 24 at the Portimao Judicial Court.' The teenagers, who live in Quarteira near Albufeira, are suspected of a number of other violent assaults on other young tourists. An active police investigation is ongoing. Local reports said they filmed the attacks and posted the footage on social media to brag about what they had done. Albufeira has come under the spotlight in recent weeks following the deaths of two British tourists in quick succession. On June 4, tragic Scots tourist Greg Monks was found dead near Albufeira after going missing a week earlier in the resort. The 38-year-old plant mechanic from Glasgow is believed to have lost his life after jumping over a wall and falling down a steep hillside during a night out with his stag do friends. Around four hours before Greg's body was found by police, another young Brit tourist was found dead behind a steep drop at the back of a residential block by Albufeira's Old Town. The 21-year-old is said to have gone out drinking with pals and is thought to have become disoriented as he tried to get back to his hotel. News of his death only emerged three days after Greg was found dead.

Shaughna Phillips gives fresh details of second pregnancy shock with jailbird boyfriend

Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has admitted she was stunned to fall pregnant so fast after agreeing to have a second child with boyfriend Billy Webb - who was jailed in 2023 for drugs crimes Shaughna Phillips has revealed she was shocked to learn she was pregnant a second time - as it all happened so fast. The 31-year-old is already a mother to two-year-old daughter Lucia - who she shares with former estate agent Billy Webb. ‌ Reality show fans will know Shaughna shot to fame in 2020 when she was a contestant on the sixth season of ITV's Love Island. She later fell for Billy - who was jailed in 2023 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine - worth at least £360,000. ‌ While Billy was sentenced to nine years behind bars - with his trial taking place in the thick of Shaughna's first pregnancy - he is soon to be given early release from his jail term. While behind bars, however, he and Shaughna have managed to conceive their second child - who is expected to arrive in November. ‌ Opening up about the conception, Shaughna has explained that she and Billy discussed their plans to expand their little family. However, the Love Island beauty was left stunned by just how quickly she fell pregnant the second time. In a new interview, she joked that she kept one pregnancy test company in business as she bought so many tests just to be ready to find out if she and Billy had been successful or not. And she also revealed she was stunned to see a positive result soon after they agreed to try a second time. ‌ She told The Sun:"I was trying. It was my first attempt at, I guess, getting pregnant, like actively trying. And so I knew that there was a chance, but I've probably kept Clear Blue in business. "If you saw my Amazon orders, I was ordering test after test after test. It was actually ridiculous. So, yeah, I knew that there was a chance. But I really didn't expect it to happen on the first try. Like, I'm very lucky in that sense." The reality star's latest interview comes after she already opened up to The Mirror about her second pregnancy plans. She revealed she had been tracking her ovulation to boost her chances of conceiving, and said she was stunned that her baby dream came true so quickly. ‌ 'It was the first time that my ovulation window coincided with Billy being home,' she told us when she was already four-and-a-half months pregnant. 'I was like, 'You know what? Why not? Let's just see'. And literally, the next day, I said to Billy, 'I think I'm pregnant.'' And she said: 'I found out very, very early on. I was doing maybe five tests a day. I'm not even exaggerating.' ‌ Shaughna said Billy was allowed out from jail on home visits for 'a few days' each month. And while she has so far been forced to raise her daughter as a single parent, she shared her hope that Billy will be released in time for their new arrival. 'I know the date that he's due to be home, but I'm not saying it just because anything could happen,' she admitted cautiously. 'But hopefully he will be fully home before my baby is due.' Last month, Shaughna discussed the gender of her unborn second child during a Q&A with her Instagram followers. One fan asked: "So pleased for you! Are you going to find out the gender?" Shaughna shared a screengrab of herself from a longer video where she was seen with her mouth wide open in shock. She wrote: "We do know the gender, this was my reaction." The star also revealed she will be undergoing a C-Section after having a 'rough' birth with daughter Lucia. Speaking about Lucia's birth, she said: "Induction, 2 days labour, pushed for an hour and she was not moving, She got really stressed and was rushed for forceps which FAILED because she turned around, and then she was rushed for an emergency C-Section and ended up with a postpartum haemorrhage."

CNN interrupted for major breaking news which could have 'huge impact' on Donald Trump

A breaking news story halted proceedings on CNN and the future outcome could have ramifications for president Donald Trump. The news organisation broke to breaking news to inform that Ghislaine Maxwell has been granted a form of limited immunity to talk during her meetings with Department of Justice officials. CNN news reporter Erin Burnett read out live on air: "We are just learning this hour that Jeffrey Epstein's ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell was granted limited immunity in order to talk with Trump's personal attorney turned deputy attorney general, Todd Blanch." The British socialite and former ex-girlfriend of convicted sex offender Epstein met with Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche on multiple occasions this week. It's said she was the one who initiated the meetings. The limited immunity means that anything Maxwell said that was truthful couldn't be used against her in the future. According to her attorney, David Oscar Markus, during the past days worth of talks, Maxwell was asked questions by DOJ on "maybe about 100 different people". He told CNN and other reporters, she answered the questions put to her and "didn't hold anything back". It's said Maxwell spoke for nine hours over the two days. Trump is mentioned within the Epstein files, with has name appearing multiple times on flight logs for Epstein's private plane in the 1990s. However, it is unknown whether Maxwell's questions involved the president. Trump had said earlier he hasn't thought about giving Maxwell a pardon or commutation for her cooperation. However he hadn't ruled it out. He explained how he is "allowed to do it" but hasn't thought about it. After Maxwell's arrest in connection to Epstein's crimes in 2020, Trump had said: "I do wish her well. I'm not looking for anything bad for her." Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in jail for trafficking underage girls. She was convicted of five charges in December 2021 for recruiting and grooming four girls to have sexual encounters with Epstein, then her boyfriend, between 1994 and 2004 following a month-long trial. Before imposing a 20-year sentence, Judge Nathan summarised the cases of several of the victims. She said Maxwell and Epstein used a "playbook" over the years, and the result was "incalculable" damage to their victims. "The sentence I impose must reflect the gravity of Ms Maxwell's conduct," she said. 'A substantial sentence will send an unmistakable message that those who engage in the sexual abuse and trafficking of underage victims will be held accountable by the law. 'The rule of law demands, and this court agrees, that whether you are rich or powerful or entirely unknown, nobody is above the law." Judge Nathan added: 'It is important to emphasise that although Epstein was central to this criminal scheme, Ms Maxwell is not being punished in place of Epstein or as a proxy for Epstein." She went on to call the crimes "heinous and predatory'. Maxwell continues to appeal her conviction. The initial appeal against her convictions was rejected by a US court in September last year. She currently isn't eligible for release from prison until July 2037.
