New family-friendly music festival to launch this summer
Tarantarti Party, taking place just outside Faringdon in Oxfordshire, will run from August 8 to 10, with early entry available on August 7, and is expected to draw around 1,000 attendees.
The boutique festival is organised by the family of veteran band Tarantism and promises a grassroots atmosphere with music, arts, food, and camping.

Hannah Pink, organiser and daughter of Tarantism member Mel, said: "This festival is a celebration of music, creativity, and community in a setting that feels both magical and welcoming."
The festival will offer four unique stages:
- The Tiny House Acoustic Stage - Dub & Dance Arena - Disco Cabaret - Dance Til You Die Main Stage
The line-up will include China Shop Bull, Los Albertos, and P.A.I.N.
The Disco Cabaret marquee will feature live music, drag acts, comedy, theatre, acrobatics, and fire shows, curated by members of the queer community.
For younger visitors, there will be a dinosaur caravan, teddy tent, LEGO lab, craft workshops, circus school, and a teen chill-out space.
Under-sixes can attend for free, and dedicated staff will ensure activities are safe and age-appropriate.
There will also be a wellbeing and healing area offering yoga, meditation, reiki, massage, and sound therapy in a natural, peaceful setting.
Workshops will include belly dancing, willow weaving, clay modelling, sewing, and circus skills.
The festival has been designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair access, sensory-friendly areas, quiet zones, and accessible camping.
Ms Pink said: "We want everyone to feel included and able to join in the fun, which is why accessibility is at the heart of our planning."
The event will be powered in part by solar arrays and biofuel generators.
Tickets are priced at £90 for adults, £45 for teens aged 11 to 16, and £30 for children aged six to 10.

Horses are also welcome at £2 each.
The address will be shared with ticket holders only.

Kaiser Chiefs star and respected judge given honorary fellowships
The achievements of an indie rock star and an eminent judge have been recognised with honorary fellowships. Nick Hodgson, a founding member of Leeds band the Kaiser Chiefs, and His Honour Judge Ahmed Nadim of Bradford Crown Court, received the honours from Leeds Trinity University for their impact in music and law. The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the university's Horsforth campus. Judge Nadim, a senior member of Lincoln House Chambers, began his legal career as "one of only a few Asian barristers practicing in the UK" at the time, according to a Leeds Trinity University spokesperson. Judge Nadim said: "To be recognised by a university that invests in social inclusion and diversity is the ultimate compliment, and it gives me greater strength and encouragement to get involved in the university's work. Judge Nadim spoke of his hope of engaging in further mentoring work, including inviting students to court to observe the justice system at first-hand (Image: Supplied) "I'm hoping to engage in more mentoring work, inviting students to our court, so they can experience the operation of our justice system first-hand. "This will hopefully disabuse them of any notion that the position of being a judge is reserved for a particular class of person. "I would encourage everyone who aspires to be a barrister or solicitor, or nurses a hope to become a judge, to follow their dream. "Don't allow other people's fears to define your ambitions." Mr Hodgson, a Leeds Trinity alumnus who studied media and geography, was honoured for his musical achievements and charitable work, including support for Leeds-based children's cancer charity Candlelighters and the Alzheimer's Society. Mr Hodgson said: "I was surprised to receive the honorary fellowship, but it is nice to be recognised as somebody worthy of this award. "Being back on campus has reminded me of my time as a student in the 90s, living in halls and making music with most of the members of what eventually became the Kaiser Chiefs. "I remember writing a lot of songs in my student accommodation room. "It was so fun. "My advice for students going into creative fields is to not let anyone put them off and just go ahead and do it. "Don't let people crush your dreams." Professor Charles Egbu, vice-chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said: "I am delighted that Leeds Trinity continues to expand its honorary fellows community and that we are building meaningful relationships with such a range of inspirational individuals." Mr Hodgson and Judge Nadim were among seven individuals recognised for their contributions across law, digital, psychology, health, and social care.

Recorded commentary to be played on City Sightseeing York buses
Recorded commentary, containing facts about York's past and present, will be played on iconic red open-top buses in the city for the first time. The commentary, for City Sightseeing York, has been recorded by four live tour guides – Nellie Kay, Chris Geeson, Joyanne Ball, and Nigel Walker - and will play on the tour buses at quieter times. This is the first time the guides, who appear live on 50 per cent of the bus firm's tours, have recorded their own commentary. The announcement comes as the company gears up to start its summer timetable this Sunday (July 20), offering four tours per hour, seven days a week, and serving 21 stops. For the first time, visitors can extend their regular 24-hour tour ticket to 48 hours for an extra £5, or £10 for a family of four. More information on City Sightseeing York tours can be found at
