Baywatch Tower to enhance tourist safety at Pakala beach
Singarayakonda: Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, district collector A Thameem Ansariya, and SP AR Damodar inaugurated the new baywatch tower, which was constructed with funds of Rs 15 lakh, at Pakala Beach of Prakasam district on Sunday. The watch tower is designed to monitor safety aspects along the coastline, identify water current patterns, and enable immediate response during emergencies.
Minister Swamy emphasised that measures have been taken to ensure every tourist returns home safely, noting that the baywatch tower will serve as an alert system for visitors. Acknowledging that several unfortunate incidents had occurred previously in the Singarayakonda and Pakala Beach areas, the minister said that the watch tower has been established to prevent such incidents from recurring. He highlighted the need for coordinated efforts between police and coast guard personnel for enhanced coastal security and public awareness.
Collector Ansariya described Pakala Beach as a prominent tourist destination in the district, stressing the importance of development programmes and special attention to tourist safety in such locations. She explained that the watch tower will provide real-time information about sea currents and wave intensity, enabling early detection of potential dangers and timely rescue operations.
SP Damodar observed that following previous tragic incidents at popular tourist spots, they have implemented various security measures, including increased patrolling and picketing in beach areas, with the watch tower providing continuous updates on sea conditions to enable immediate police response. The SP also announced plans to strengthen the police system in coastal areas through enhanced CCTV surveillance, warning boards, and improved emergency response mechanisms. He advised tourists to exercise caution regarding their safety and ensure children remain under adult supervision at all times.
The watch tower is equipped with modern technology, including CCTV cameras, a public addressing system, and a time clock announcement system. The SP specially commended Singarayakonda Circle Inspector CH Hajarataiah and SI Mahendra for their role in the construction and setup of the advanced technology systems.

"The new expressway is expected to transform regional connectivity, making travel to Agra, Delhi, Mumbai and Prayagraj faster and smoother, while driving industrial development in the surrounding areas," a senior YEIDA official said. Once operational, the link expressway will provide direct connectivity from the Noida International Airport to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Agra via Yamuna Expressway and further up to Prayagraj through the Ganga Expressway. Rail fare hike for AC & non-AC classes kicks in from today
NEW DELHI: The hike in passenger fares will come into effect Tuesday after the railway ministry notified the revised fares for both AC and non-AC classes. The new fares will not apply for tickets issued at pre-revised rates, meaning passengers who booked tickets before Tuesday won't have to pay any extra charge. While fares have increased by 2 paise per km for passengers travelling in AC classes, the hike for non-AC class is 1 paisa per km. A rough calculation shows that one-way travel in 3AC in Rajdhani trains from Delhi to Mumbai, Kolkata or Patna would get costlier by Rs 20-30, while a non-AC journey in mail and express trains would cost around Rs 10-15 more. There is no hike in fares for trains on the suburban rail network and monthly season tickets for both suburban and non-suburban trains. Similarly, there is no increase in fares for passengers travelling in second class on ordinary (non-mail or express) trains for distances up to 500km. Beyond this, they will have to pay extra half a paisa per km. Passengers of ordinary sleeper class and first class in non-mail or express trains will also have to pay half a paisa more per km from Tuesday. "The fare revision also applies to premier and special train services, such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat and Tejas, and ordinary non-suburban services," the ministry said. As per estimates based on the Budget document, which projects passenger km, railways were likely to earn an additional Rs 1,100-1,200 crore due to the fare hikes in the entire financial year. But since one quarter is already over, the national transporter it may garner additional revenue of Rs 800-900 crore from the passenger segment in this fiscal. The maximum additional revenue, of approximately Rs 534 crore, is expected from AC3 category, followed by Rs 458 crore from second class travel in mail and express trains.

Railways rationalises passenger fares from tomorrow; No change for suburban routes
New Delhi (India) June 30 (ANI): In a move aimed at streamlining fare structures and enhancing the financial sustainability of passenger services, the Ministry of Railways has rationalised the basic fare of Passenger train services, effective from 01 July 2025. The revised fares are based on the updated Passenger Fare Table issued by the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA), the railways said in a release. As per the release, no change in Suburban single journey fares and Season Tickets (for both suburban and non-suburban routes). The fare hike varies across different classes and train types. For ordinary non-AC classes in non-suburban trains, second-class fares will increase by half a paisa per kilometre, subject to certain conditions, such as No increase up to 500 Km; Increase by Rs 5 for distance 501 to 1500 Km; Increase by Rs 10 for distance 1501 to 2500 Km; and Increase by Rs 15 for distance 2501 to 3000 Km. Sleeper and first-class fares will also see a similar increase. The first class will witness an increase of 0.5 paise per kilometre. Mail and express trains will have a slightly higher fare hike, with second-class fares increasing by one paisa per kilometre, and sleeper and first-class fares will follow the same. AC classes, including AC chair car, AC 3-Tier/3-Economy, AC 2-tier, and AC First/Executive Class/Executive Anubhuti, will see a fare increase of two paisa per kilometre. The fare revision also applies to premier and special train services such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Mahamana, Gatimaan, Antyodaya, Jan Shatabdi, Yuva Express, AC Vistadome coaches, Anubhuti coaches, and Ordinary non-suburban services, in accordance with the revised class-wise fare structure. Additionally, there will be no change in ancillary charges, such as reservation fees, superfast surcharges, and other applicable charges, which will remain unchanged. GST will continue to be levied as per applicable rules. Fare rounding principles remain as per existing norms. The revised fares will apply to tickets booked on or after 01.07.2025. Tickets issued before this date will remain valid at the existing fare without any fare adjustment. PRS, UTS, and manual ticketing systems are being updated accordingly, the release said. The Ministry of Railways has issued necessary instructions to all Zonal Railways to ensure the smooth implementation of the revised fare structure and update fare displays at all stations, it added.
