Its managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin was clear in stating that this is not a political campaign.
'We want the people to vote for our brands. That's what this campaign is about, a collaboration with our supplier partners who are rolling out exciting deals and rewards totalling RM6.8 million.
'Think of it as a campaign where brands are the candidates, campaigning to become the elected representative for their constituencies. But they have to stand out.
'It's not about just any promotion, it's about being distinct and creative. There's healthy competition, and that's the fun of it,' he shared this during a special press conference with media partners at Mydin Hypermarket Subang Jaya on Tuesday.

He emphasised that, just like politicians make promises during elections, brands in this campaign will be judged on what they deliver.
The ultimate goal remains simple, to support Malaysians by offering meaningful savings and value.
Adding a unique twist, Mydin customers will get the chance to 'vote' for their favourite brands in a mock-election setting. A total of 26 Parliamentary seats and 85 State Assembly seats will be contested.
Voting begins on July 24 and runs until Aug 31 2025, with every in-store purchase of a participating brand's product counting as one physical vote.
This fun and creative campaign is all about giving back, with loads of great deals and exciting rewards.
From Sept 1 to 16, 2025, customers can cast their votes digitally via the Mydin Rewards app. The brand with the highest votes in each category will be honoured as the YB, Yang Berhormat (The Honourable Brand).
To make the campaign even more rewarding, Mydin is launching three major initiatives:
People's rewards
From Sept 1 to 16 2025, those voting through the Mydin Rewards app stand a chance to win vouchers and cashback exceeding RM400,000.
People's cashback
From July 25 to Oct 5 2025, shoppers using selected e-wallets including Atome, Boost, MCash, SPayLater, Shopback, and Setel will enjoy discounts and cashback totalling RM300,000 across all Mydin outlets.
People's fortune
Customers who vote for their chosen products will unlock exclusive promotions and discounts worth up to RM1.68 million, along with competitions, special brand collaborations, and access to the Cash Out game via Mydin Pay.
A total of 26 parliamentary seats and 85 state assembly (DUN) seats are up for grabs.
The Mydin General Election Campaign 2025 runs from July 24 to Oct 6 2025 at all Mydin stores nationwide and on the Mydin online platform.
The final election results will be announced on Sept 18 2025.
Ameer also called on brands to run ethical and transparent campaigns.
'Don't backstab. Campaign honestly. Keep your promises. If you make a manifesto, stick to it and use social media wisely.
'Most importantly, to our loyal customers, this is your chance to vote with your purchases and support the brands you believe in,' he added.
This isn't just a sale, it's a movement. One where the people choose the brands that truly deliver.

PN endorses United Opposition Front to coordinate stand on key national issues
KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional's (PN) Supreme Council has reviewed and endorsed a proposal to form Barisan Pembangkang Bersatu (BPB), or the United Opposition Front, aimed at forging consensus on key national and public interest issues among political parties outside the ruling coalition. The proposal, presented by PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today, outlines the formation of a structured platform to enable opposition parties to take joint positions on matters affecting the people and the country. In a statement issued after the meeting, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the objective was to coordinate efforts among non-government political entities and align their responses to issues of national concern through a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility. "The Supreme Council has agreed in principle to the formation of this opposition front and will initiate follow-up discussions with other political parties outside the government bloc," he said via the statement posted on PN's official Facebook page. He said the council viewed the proposal as a step forward in strengthening the voice of the opposition and ensuring the concerns of ordinary Malaysians are brought to the forefront of national discourse. "The supreme council sees it as a timely and necessary move to restore balance to the country's democratic process. We must unite all political forces outside the ruling bloc to ensure there is a credible, structured and effective opposition that can speak and act on behalf of the people," he said. Azmin added that further discussions would be held with other political parties and civil society groups before proceeding with the initiative. He also said that earlier in the meeting, which was attended by top leaders of all component parties, the council discussed preparations for the upcoming Sabah state election. "A central committee, chaired by opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, was formed to coordinate seat distribution, campaign strategies, and manifesto development. Among the concerns raised were over the long-standing infrastructure issues in Sabah, especially water supply, electricity, and road access, that are said to have burdened the people for far too long," he said. Azmin also reiterated that PN fully supported the Himpunan Turun Anwar rally, describing it as a peaceful gathering reflecting the people's demand for real change. "This is not merely a protest. It is the people's expression of frustration and hope for a better future, free from economic oppression and authoritarian governance," he added.

Auditor General appointment valid, no retirement needed says AGC
KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has clarified that the appointment of Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi as Auditor General complies with constitutional and legal provisions, dismissing claims that she should retire. The AGC stated that under Article 105 of the Federal Constitution and subparagraph 1(1) of the First Schedule to the Audit Act 1957, the Auditor General can be appointed from the public service. 'Referring to Clause (2) of Article 105 of the Federal Constitution, when Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi was appointed as Auditor General with effect from June 13, 2023, she would no longer hold any other appointment in the Federal service,' the AGC said. This means she is no longer part of the Administrative and Diplomatic Officers service scheme but remains a member of the general public service under Section 3 of Act 62. 'Since her appointment as Auditor General was in order, there is no need for her to be retired in the interest of the country,' the statement added. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil also affirmed that Wan Suraya's appointment is valid and does not conflict with the Federal Constitution. - Bernama
