Sarah Jessica Parker 'Shocked' By Unpopularity Of ‘AJLT's Che Diaz, Says She Loved Working With Sara Ramirez
The character proved polarising with fans, with some critics describing her as a caricature of queer culture and an example of how the show has clumsily tried to update itself for the reboot.

Now, star and producer Sarah Jessica Parker has said she was 'shocked' to discover the character was so deeply disliked.
Parker told The Guardian newspaper this weekend:
'A friend of mine brought it up to me, and it's like: 'What are you talking about?' And he said: 'Yeah, there's all this conversation.'
'I've been an actor for 50 years, and I've almost never paid attention to peripheral chatter. I loved working with them.'
As for her own character Carrie, on her enduring romantic rollercoaster supported by the more constant consolations of her friends and her love of fashion, Parker said she was delighted by the use of the word 'antihero' to describe her.
'I prefer that to any other description of her, because it allows her to be as male as the men have been. I love The Sopranos so much, and I look at all the times [Tony] was unlawful, and we loved him. Carrie has an affair and everybody falls apart.
'An antihero, to me, is somebody that's not behaving in conventional ways, and she hasn't ever… A lot of people love her too, though!'
Sex and the City ran for 94 episodes between 1998 and 2004. The third season of And Just Like That is currently airing on HBO Max.

Joel, 76, reflects on the first time he met Alexis, 43, in the new HBO documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes, and recalls that her nonchalance toward his skills drew him to her. 'When you meet someone who captures your imagination, it renews, it revitalizes,' he says in the film. 'I remember the first time I met Alexis, we went to my house, and I wanted to play the piano for her. It's a form of communication for me.' The 'Just the Way You Are' singer says he drew on a famous scene from the Marilyn Monroe film The Seven-Year Itch, in which the character trying to woo Monroe's character plays a song by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. 'I'm playing that and she's completely unimpressed with it, totally. She couldn't care less what I'm playing and I'm thinking, 'Oh OK, this isn't working,'' Joel says. 'She was very unimpressed with the whole Billy Joel thing, which impressed me. Because I thought, 'OK, maybe she's just here because she likes me, not the Billy Joel guy.'' Joel says he was initially uncertain as to whether he wanted to start a new relationship, as he was fresh off a divorce from his third wife, Katie Lee, and was wary. Still, the star explains that 'something popped,' and he knew he was open to love once more. Alexis — whom he went on to marry in 2015 and welcome daughters Della, 9, and Remy, 7 — also appears in the documentary, and says that the couple got to know each other better after that first meeting through phone calls and emails. She also praises his skills in the kitchen, saying Joel would often cook dinner for her to come home to while she was working in finance. 'We had a couple years together before we had kids and he had completely stopped doing shows,' she says. 'We traveled everywhere. We did a motorcycle trip from Maine down to Long Island, we were on boats 24/7. We were in Europe. We had so much fun.' Alexis has been a pillar of strength for the star in recent months as he deals with a treatable brain condition called normal pressure hydrocephalus (The rocker tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that he's 'OK' and not 'deathly ill'). Dennis Arfa, the star's longtime booking agent, tells PEOPLE he's 'so happy' to see Joel 'raising his children and being so in love with them and Alexis and his family.' 'It's quite rewarding,' Arfa says. 'I'm always rooting for Billy's happiness and his success. I've seen Billy have a lot of happy times through his life, [but] he's had to deal with certain adversity. I'm happy for him in this chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter with him.' Pedro Pascal videos are going viral again — and it sure does feel like a smear campaign
Transphobes have just been introduced to the concept of platonic touch, and they are spiraling. Pedro Pascal is going viral on social media, but instead of it being for his sexy arms or admitting he's 'into submission,' this time it's because right-wing trolls are attempting a smear campaign. It all started when posts started cropping up on social media earlier this week that accused Pascal of 'groping' his costars during press tours and red carpet events. Overnight, the discourse on X went from Pascal being everyone's favorite daddy to him being criticized for using his social anxiety as an excuse to be too touchy-feely and overly familiar with his female co-stars. And, of course, when you trace the bizarre trend back to its origin, there is an anti-trans 'activist' at its heart. Anti-trans bully Posie Parker, otherwise known as Kellie-Jay Keen Minshull, captioned a clip of Pascal holding Fantasist Four co-star Vanessa Kirby's arm and placing a hand on her hip, 'He never gets the anxiety gropes around men, does he?!' This is likely a targeted attack because Pascal has a trans sister he is supportive of, is a vocal trans ally who regularly stands up to anti-trans celebrities like J.K. Rowling, and has been seen wearing a 'Protect the Dolls' T-shirt in public. Since her post on July 23, countless accounts on X have parroted this false narrative about Pascal using anxiety as an excuse to mistreat the women he works with. Parker has clearly never seen the way Pascal interacts with male co-stars. From snuggling with Oscar Isaac to his bromance with Paul Mescal, Pascal is just as affectionate with men as he is with women. His co-stars are just as lovey-dovey with Pascal, too. Kirby can be seen caressing his neck while on the Fantastic Four press tour; there are photos of Issac holding Pascal like he's a baby and another where he is kissing Pascal on the cheek. People on social media have also tried to claim that the women look like they are cringing away from Pascal when he touches them, but that doesn't jive with the actual video footage or what countless co-stars have said about him in interviews. Even Kirby has defended Pascal touching her on the red carpet, "He does have anxiety, and he's been open about it... but the way he holds your hand or anchors you? That's him being protective, not anxious." And despite what right-wing trolls on social media want you to believe, physical touch isn't sexual harassment when there is consent. There may still be a bizarre number of negative posts on X, but people have started defending Pascal and calling out the weirdos who don't seem to understand that you can touch a woman without it being sexual. "They're trying to make it illegal for women to have a gay best friend' "pedro pascal is physically affectionate with the women around him without sexualising it and most men just can't comprehend that because THEY sexualise every interaction they have with any woman" "Women are okay with you touching them with permission. This is not that difficult to understand if you aren't a terminally online radical" Transphobes can keep trying, but it seems like Pascal's reputation within the industry and his devoted fan base will keep this smear campaign from working.
