CAPF personnel injured during operations will get full benefits till retirement: Union Home Secretary

Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel who get severely injured during operations and have to undergo amputation will be allowed to continue in service till their retirement with all benefits, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan said on Sunday (July 27, 2025). Mr. Mohan said the government will ensure the best medical facilities and technology available in the world for 'limb replacement surgery' for CAPF officials and jawans and it will be ensured that loss of limbs is corrected as far as possible. 'Government will also ensure a minimum financial package for such personnel, and they will be accommodated in the organisation,' Mr. Mohan said, while addressing the 87th Raising Day of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Delhi. CAPF personnel have to adhere to certain physical standards for timely promotion and services. At least five CRPF personnel were grievously injured during the 21-day anti-Maoist operations on Chhattisgarh-Telangana border that concluded on May 11. Named 'Operation Black Forest', the combing operations were carried out in the Karegutta Hills (KGH). Hardships in the line of duty The Home Secretary added that a large number of CRPF personnel, including women, are deployed for law-and-order duty in Manipur after an ethnic conflict erupted in the State in May 2023. He said that during his recent visit to the State, he noticed that the personnel have to move from one location to another and face various hardships due to lack of adequate facilities. 'CRPF Director General has been asked to submit a report on the facilities required for the jawans, particularly women. Home Ministry will ensure best facilities,' Mr. Mohan said. He added that efforts are also underway to improve the living conditions at the camps in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas. 'CRPF is playing a key role in ending LWE menace before March 2026,' he said, adding that 149 forward operating bases have been operationalised in LWE areas, forcing Maoists to retreat. The official said that LWE is on the verge of its end in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. He said that Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned at the National Security Strategies Conference on Sunday (July 27, 2025) that India's rising stature would lead to security challenges and the CAPFs would play an important role in thwarting those challenges.

Trump's prosecution demand for Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey trolled by netizens: 'Deflecting from Epstein files'

President Donald Trump has accused Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé of taking millions from the Democratic Party in exchange for endorsing candidates during the 2024 election. Trump claimed the two celebrities received a combined $14 million from Democrats, while TV personality Al Sharpton was paid a smaller amount, according to a Newsweek report. On Saturday evening, he posted on Truth Social that he plans to investigate the payments. Also Read: Trump blasts California wildfire aid, questions missing $100 million FireAid money Donald Trump slams endorsement decision In his post, Trump wrote, 'I'm looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for 'expenses,' to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to a very low-rated TV 'anchor,' Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING!' He added, 'These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them.' Trump concluded the post with "All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!" Also Read: Trump to prosecute Beyonce, Oprah and Kamala Harris? POTUS warns 'All hell would break out!' Netizens react to Trump's claim Netizens on X shared their reactions, where one of the users asked, "What crime are you gonna charge Beyonce/Oprah for? Harris, sure. But what "crime" did the two H'wood demons commit?" Another user wrote, 'He is trying to distract from child rape." A user quipped, 'The contents of the Epstein files must really be damaging." Another user chimed, 'Trump falsely claimed Beyoncé and Oprah were 'illegally' paid to endorse Biden and said Kamala Harris should be prosecuted. No proof. Just distraction.' One user wrote, 'e paid the Chick-fil-A lady, he paid the original crowd when he came down the escalator, he also filled the black church with MAGAets. And let's not forget he paid Stormy Daniels, to name a few. So GTFOH with those accusations and stop deflecting from the Epstein files.' How much campaign pay Beyoncé? Federal Election Commission records do not show an $11 million payment from the Harris campaign to Beyoncé. However, the campaign did make a $165,000 payment to Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé's company, on November 19. That was a few weeks after she endorsed Harris at a rally in Houston. At that rally, Beyoncé said, "I'm not here as a celebrity. I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother—a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we're not divided." So far, the White House has not said whether any legal action will be taken.

PM Modi highlights Gumla youth's remarkable shift from extremism to fish farming in 'Mann Ki Baat'

RANCHI: In the 124th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spotlighted the inspiring transformation of a youth from Jharkhand's Maoist-affected Gumla district, who left behind a life of extremism to embrace fish farming and inspire hundreds to do the same. The Prime Minister's remarks referred to Om Prakash Sahu, whose journey from a 'red rebel' to a 'blue warrior' was earlier reported by The Morning Standard in its July 6 edition. The PM praised Sahu for rejecting violence and becoming a catalyst for social change and employment in his village. 'Sometimes the brightest light emerges from where there is the most darkness. The best example of this is Gumla district of Jharkhand, where there was a time when this area was known for Maoist violence. The villages of Basia block were becoming deserted… people were living in the shadow of fear, there was no possibility of employment, lands were lying vacant and the youth were migrating... But then, quietly and with a lot of patience, a change began," said PM Modi. "A youth named Om Prakash Sahu ji left the path of violence and started fish farming. Then he inspired many friends like him to do the same… his efforts had an impact… those who earlier held guns are now holding fishing nets,' added PM Modi. He noted that Sahu's beginning was not easy. 'There were protests and life threats, but he did not lose courage. When Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was introduced, he got new strength, received training from the government, and within no time, the blue revolution started in Gumla,' the Prime Minister added. According to PM Modi, more than 150 families in the Basia block of Gumla are now engaged in fish farming, many of whom were allegedly once associated with Maoist organisations. 'Now, they are living a dignified life in their own village, creating employment for others,' he said.
