Three men jailed over Holmfirth firearms incident
West Yorkshire Police said the disorder unfolded when a car containing five people, including Brooke, pulled up alongside Rowley and Wilkinson at about 21:45 GMT. An "altercation" then took place which resulted in Rowley and Wilkinson chasing the occupants of the car down the road, with one brandishing a machete and the other a gun, which was fired.Brooke also had a gun which he fired towards Rowley and Wilkinson. The bullet "luckily" hit a nearby building and no-one was injured, police said.
'Innocent bystanders'
Alongside his conviction for possessing a firearm, Brooke, of Manor Street, Huddersfield, who pleaded guilty at the start of his trial, was also sentenced to 18 months in prison for violent disorder, to be served concurrently.Wilkinson, of Broadlands Road, Meltham, and Rowley, of Poppy Gardens, Meltham, were both given additional 18-month sentences for violent disorder, to be served concurrently.Rowley was also given a 12-month sentence for possession of a bladed article, also to be served concurrently. He had already admitted violent disorder and threatening another with a blade at the start of the trial. Speaking after sentencing, Det Con Amy Hirst said: "Wilkinson and Morgan Rowley were responsible for a serious incident where a gun was fired. "It was a busy Friday night in Holmfirth with innocent bystanders out enjoying themselves."It's fortunate for this pair that nobody was injured, but the outcome could have easily resulted in someone being seriously harmed or even killed."

Former fund manager Neil Woodford to be banned and fined almost £46m
The financial watchdog has provisionally banned former star City fund manager Neil Woodford and fined him and his former fund almost £46 million for putting investors' money at risk. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said it will ban Mr Woodford from holding senior manager roles and managing funds for retail investors. It also announced plans to fine him £5.89 million and Woodford Investment Management (WIM) £40 million. Mr Woodford and WIM have referred the case to the Upper Tribunal for appeal. The former manager's flagship fund, WIM, was wound down in 2019 after investors tried to withdraw cash faster than the fund could pay out, amid concerns over its high exposure to illiquid and unquoted shares. On Tuesday, the FCA said it has concluded that Mr Woodford and the fund 'made unreasonable and inappropriate investment decisions' between July 2018 and June 2019.

Metro new ticket gates 'will deter fare evasion'
The first new ticket barriers to be installed across the Tyne and Wear Metro network for a decade should be in action before the end of the year, transport chiefs is under way to introduce new gates at Regent Centre in Gosforth, Newcastle, while a shortlist of more stations to have barriers is being drawn comes after a £2.1m pledge from North East Mayor Kim McGuinness in a bid to improve security and cut fare operator Nexus confirmed that work at Regent Centre station, used by more than 1.3m passengers every year, is due to be finished by the end of 2025.
