Union minister
Kiren Rijiju
joined the 90th birthday celebrations of the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday. The event was marked by prayers, tributes, and expressions of deep reverence for the Tibetan spiritual leader.
Tibetan Buddhist monks in exile held special prayers at Dorjidak Monastery near Shimla to honour the milestone.
Addressing the gathering, Kiren Rijiju said, "...Your holiness, you are more than a spiritual leader. You are a living bridge between ancient wisdom and the modern world.'
'We feel blessed by his presence in our country, which he regards as his 'aryabhoomi''," he added.
On the eve of his birthday, during celebrations at the main Dalai Lama temple in McLeodganj, the Dalai Lama reflected on life in exile.
"Though we have lost our country and we are living in exile in India, that's where I have been able to benefit beings quite a lot. Those living here in Dharamshala. I intend to benefit and serve beings as much as I can."
The celebrations came amid renewed debate over the Dalai Lama's succession, a matter of contention between India and China. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning recently said that the selection of the next Dalai Lama must follow a process approved by Beijing, warning India to handle Tibet-related matters with "caution" to avoid straining bilateral ties.

Responding to the remarks, Rijiju reaffirmed India's position, saying, "As a devotee and on behalf of millions of devotees across the world, I want to state that whatever decision taken by His Holiness, the established traditions and conventions, we will fully abide by it and follow the directions and guidelines to be issued by the institution of the Dalai Lama,"
The Dalai Lama has also made it clear that his successor will be chosen by the India-based Gaden Phodrang Trust, the non-profit he founded, rejecting any external interference—a message widely seen as directed at China.

Katie Miller resurfaces with both her husband and Elon Musk separately amid divorce rumors

Katie Miller clarifies she is with Stephen Miller in her personal relationship and with Elon Musk in her professional commitment. Katie Miller, the former White House staff, who walked out of the Donald Trump administration to work for Elon Musk amid rumors that she was getting separated from husband Stephen Miller, a key ally of President Donald Trump, resurfaced this week. On July 4, Katie Miller posted a photo with Stephen but before that she emerged as a signature to emails sent to reporters from Elon Musk's xAI. According to reports, the email announced that xAI, the artificial intelligence of Elon Musk's X, received the permit to use gas-powered turbines at a data center. Fortune reported that sending such a mail was not only unusual but also very rare for xAI as it rarely engaged with the media. Katie Miller and Stephen Miller were at the centre of everyone's curiosity as Stephen remained loyal to President Trump as his deputy chief of staff while Katie went to work with Elon Musk full time -- as Trump and Musk fought. There was a temporary lull in their fight as Musk apologized for some comments that he made about Trump, but their relationship was far from getting repaired. With Donald Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill' getting passed ahead of June 4, Elon Musk kept his promise of starting a new political party: America Party. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ford&Go. Himachal floods: Congress targets Kangana over ‘don't have any cabinet' remark; calls it ‘insensitive'

NEW DELHI: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has come under fire from the Congress for what the party called an 'insensitive' response during her visit to flood-affected areas in her Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. The backlash was sparked by a video shared by the Congress in which Ranaut, while commenting on disaster relief, said, 'Whether it's disaster relief or the disaster itself — I don't have any official cabinet. I have my two brothers who are always with me. That's my cabinet. So, it's just these two.' The Congress criticised Ranaut for allegedly treating the situation lightly. 'In Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, a cloudburst has caused widespread devastation. People are distressed, their lives completely upended. Mandi's MP Kangana arrived there after several days and, laughing, said, 'What can I do, I don't have a cabinet position.' Show some compassion, Kangana ji,' the party said on its official X account. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also attacked the Mandi MP, saying, 'Even BJP's Jairam Thakur is left speechless in the face of Kangana Ji's insensitivity.' She added, 'A cloudburst in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has caused massive destruction. Kangana Ji, who is the MP from there, visited the area for the first time after the tragedy. People have lost everything — and she is in the mood for sarcasm, jokes, and laughter?' Ranaut, who visited the region on Sunday, said she was 'deeply pained' by the situation on the ground, where families had lost their homes and loved ones. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Поза во сне может многое рассказать о вашем характере! More than 14 people have died in Mandi alone, with 31 still missing after a series of cloudbursts and landslides. Across Himachal Pradesh, the monsoon has so far claimed 78 lives since June 20, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). Of these, 50 were due to rain-related incidents and 28 were the result of road accidents. The state has reported major damage to infrastructure: 269 roads blocked, 278 water schemes disrupted, and 285 power transformers damaged. The estimated loss to public and private property exceeds Rs 57 crore.
