Farmers urge Andhra government to speed up tobacco procurement
Pointing out that the pace of operations remains sluggish, he said, 'There is still a large quantity of unsold tobacco with farmers. If this continues, it will take another two to three months to complete the season. Tobacco loses weight and quality over time, causing severe losses to farmers already burdened by debts and interest.'
Rajamohan urged authorities to allow more farmers to bring their tobacco for sale and inform them in advance via WhatsApp about their allotted slot. He noted that one buyer could manage to purchase only 300 bales in a day and called for faster procurement.
Demanding a revision in the moisture standards, citing that too many bales are being rejected over a minor percentage, he proposed setting up more procurement centres in mandal headquarters, specifically at Pedanandipadu and Inkollu.
'Villages near Parchur but falling under neighbouring districts should not be forced to go to Guntur. With computerised verification, farmers should be allowed to sell at the nearest centre,' he suggested.
In cases where godowns are unavailable, he recommended establishing temporary purchase points and transporting the procured tobacco to nearby storage facilities. 'Even if it slightly increases transportation costs, it ensures faster procurement,' he said. He urged authorities to ensure prompt payments to farmers after purchase, stating that delays in disbursing payments exacerbate their hardship.

Farmers told to ensure bank accounts are active
Rajamahendravaram: Another major promise under the Super Six commitments of the Andhra Pradesh government has been fulfilled with the launch of the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. The first instalment of financial support will be credited to the bank accounts of eligible farmers on Saturday, said Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh. As part of the first phase, a sum of Rs 7,000 is being deposited into each eligible farmer's account. Of this, Rs 5,000 is contributed by the state government, while Rs 2,000 is from the Central government under the PM-Kisan Yojana, the minister clarified. The scheme is designed to provide a total benefit of 20,000 to each farmer in three instalments. Durgesh stated that following the Chief Minister's directive, inaugural events are being held at Rythu Seva Kendras (Farmers' Service Centres) across the state to mark the release of funds. Fulfilling this commitment to farmers reflects the government's dedication to public welfare and its ability to uphold the trust of the people, he added. Farmers were also advised to ensure their bank accounts are active. For those eligible farmers who may not have received the credited amount yet, the minister urged them not to panic. He advised them to contact the helpline number 155251 or the WhatsApp Governance number 9552300003 for assistance. They may also approach their local Rythu Seva Kendras for support.

Four held in ₹3 crore trade investment scam in Hyderabad
Four persons were arrested by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) for their involvement in a fraudulent trade investment scheme, in which a Hyderabad-based man was duped into transferring ₹3 crore. The accused were identified as Srinivas Manubothula (45), Syed Yousuf (45), Chekka Yeshaya alias Shekar (54) and Mohammed Jaber Ahmed (42). One of them was a bank account holder, while the other three acted as agents in facilitating the fraud. The case was booked following a complaint on June 28 by a resident of North Lallaguda, who alleged that he was added to a WhatsApp group called 'SMC Global Securities', purportedly run by a woman named Anu Prita Daga and Ajay Garg, presented as the CEO of SMC Global Securities Ltd, New Delhi. The complainant was lured into joining an investment scheme through a web link sent by Daga. Claiming that SEBI-approved cash management accounts were used, she promised that funds transferred by investors would be securely credited and could be withdrawn at any time. Encouraged to invest in an IPO for a fictitious firm named 'Influx Health Tech Ltd', the victim was told that he had been allocated shares worth ₹49 crore. After he protested, stating he did not authorise such an amount, the fraudsters negotiated a revised payment of ₹3 crore. The funds were transferred to 16 bank accounts provided by Daga, including one in Kerala where ₹77 lakh was deposited. Investigations revealed that ₹8 lakh from the Kerala account was later transferred to the bank account of Srinivas Manubothula, a software consultant. Manubothula, who ran a drone software firm under the name 'Drones Spray', had opened a current account with Axis Bank. Facing financial distress, he agreed to provide this account for use in cyber frauds, for a commission. His associates, including Jaber Ahmed and Syed Yousuf, facilitated the scam by transporting the SIM card linked to the bank account to Mumbai, where other fraudsters managed the transfers. Manubothula received ₹2 lakh for allowing the use of his account, which saw a total inflow of ₹4.3 crore, later redistributed to various accounts via net banking. The police said that as many as 46 NCRP (National Cybercrime Reporting Portal) complaints have been filed against the same bank account from across India. The TGCSB has issued a public advisory warning citizens not to provide their bank accounts for use by others under any circumstance. It also urged people to stay vigilant against fraudulent investment schemes and to report any suspicious activity via the 1930 helpline or
