Dramatic Moment Brave Shopper Confronts Knife-Wielding Madman at Michigan Walmart After He Stabs 11 as First Photo of Attacker Emerges
At least 11 people were injured in a bloody stabbing rampage inside a Michigan Walmart on Saturday night, causing terrified customers and staff to run for safety, before a brave armed citizen stepped in and helped detain the attacker, according to police, eyewitnesses, and dramatic video footage. A dramatic video captured the extraordinary moment when the brave citizen was joined by three other men and confronted the unhinged suspect in the parking lot of the Traverse City Walmart. Amid the chaos, one of the brave men, who had lost his shoes, was seen walking barefoot as he ordered the knife-wielding attacker to drop his weapon before the suspect was arrested. Terror at Walmart 11 people were stabbed at a Michigan Walmart store X "Get on the ground!" one of the men could be heard shouting, while another yelled, "Drop the knife! Drop it!" "Throw the knife that way! Throw it away!" the barefoot man continued to shout. The terror unfolded around 5 p.m. when a 42-year-old man allegedly started attacking shoppers at random with a typical folding knife inside different areas of the large retail store in Traverse City — located roughly 255 miles northwest of Detroit — according to Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea. "Based on the information that we have at this time, they were random acts," Shea said during a press conference on Saturday night, noting that such violent stabbings are "very uncommon" in the city. "Eleven [victims] is too many, but thank God it wasn't more." Six of the victims are currently in critical condition, while the remaining five are reported to be in serious condition. Police said that the terror started near the store's checkout counter. "The whole store started screaming and running," employee Tasha Nash told Channel2 Now, adding, "There was a guy with a knife — he stabbed six people. I saw someone stabbed in the eye." The Michigan Walmart knife attacker attacker seen after his arrest X Photos shared by Channel 2 Now show the ruthless suspect being placed into a Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office vehicle following the stabbing spree. A customer who showed up at the store shortly after the brutal attack said she was stunned by the overwhelming presence of emergency personnel at the scene. "We were getting ready to go into Walmart as this was happening," one witness wrote on X shortly after investigators asked the public to avoid the area. "Of course, we weren't allowed to go in. I have never seen so many police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, rescue vehicles and crime scene vehicles! They sent the employees home and told all of the customers to leave. Wow." Bigger Danger Avoided All 11 victims were transported to Munson Medical Center — the largest hospital in northern Michigan — where they are currently receiving treatment, Munson Healthcare stated in a Facebook post shortly before 7 p.m. The knife-wielding attacker seen being confronted bya brave shopper after he stabbed 11 at a Michigan Walmart X "Munson Healthcare is aware of the tragic incident that occurred earlier today at the Walmart in Traverse City," the agency said. "Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this event, and we are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement for their swift action. As a result, our Emergency Department is currently experiencing a higher-than-usual volume of patients." Police have not yet released the identity of the suspected attacker or a possible motive behind the horrific incident, but noted that the violent suspect appears to be a resident of Michigan. A spokesperson for Walmart stated that the company is actively "cooperating with law enforcement." "I'm in touch with law enforcement about the horrible news out of Traverse City," Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said on X. I am grateful to the first responders for their swift response to apprehend the suspect." FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino shared on social media that the federal agency is helping at the scene, offering "any needed support" to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office as the investigation into the terrifying attack continues. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation remains active and are urging the public to stay clear of the area.

Netizens praise migrant workers who rescued driver after sinkhole incident at Tanjong Katong Road South
SINGAPORE: A vehicle fell into a large sinkhole that formed along Tanjong Katong Road South on 26 July 2025 at around 5pm, resulting in its female driver being taken to hospital. The incident has sparked widespread praise for migrant workers who were captured on video rescuing the woman from the flooded sinkhole. Photos and videos quickly spread across social media platforms, showing the car partially submerged in the water-filled sinkhole next to an active worksite. In one TikTok video, several migrant workers from a nearby site can be seen rushing to the scene without hesitation. According to an earlier Facebook post by PUB, Singapore's national water agency, the sinkhole emerged at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Mountbatten Road, affecting two lanes. The incident occurred next to an existing PUB worksite. PUB initially stated that the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) had carried out the rescue and conveyed the driver, who was conscious, to Raffles Hospital. However, netizens were quick to point out that the video evidence showed the migrant workers were the first to act. Many comments highlighted the workers' bravery in approaching the unstable, waterlogged sinkhole to pull the driver to safety before official responders arrived. One comment read, 'Let's give credit where it's due. Migrant workers are generally invisible but in moments of bravery and selfless action, they should be acknowledged.' On 27 July 2025, PUB updated its statement, acknowledging and appreciating the swift actions of the workers on site who rescued the driver. PUB confirmed it is in touch with the driver to provide necessary support. PUB also said recovery works at the site are ongoing and updates will be provided when ready. Others noted the high risk involved, describing the sinkhole as a torrent of water and shifting soil. Many commenters stressed that the workers' daily exposure to construction dangers may have prepared them for this quick-thinking response. PUB also stated that the Police, SCDF, and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) were at the scene to manage the situation. Both directions of the affected road have been closed to traffic, with motorists advised to use alternative routes such as Mountbatten Road and East Coast Parkway (ECP). Early on 27 July 2025, LTA confirmed via Facebook that Tanjong Katong Road South would remain closed for repairs until further notice. Bus services along the stretch have also been diverted to ensure safety. Goh Pei Ming, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC, acknowledged that the rescue was thanks to the quick actions of the workers on site. He added that the driver was conveyed conscious to hospital and that the safety of the area is now a priority. Nearby residents have raised concerns about the integrity of their homes and surrounding roads. In response, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) reported that its engineers carried out preliminary checks on One Amber condominium and the landed houses across the road. The checks confirmed that these buildings were not affected, though stabilisation works have begun as a precaution. The sinkhole incident has drawn significant attention to the unseen contributions of migrant workers, whose swift actions may have prevented a greater tragedy. The area remains under close monitoring by PUB, LTA, and BCA as repair and safety works continue.

Users who discard vapes at CC disposal bins will not be traced: HSA
Those who throw their vapes into designated disposal bins installed around Singapore can be assured their identities will not be traced, said the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) on July 26. HSA said this in response to The Straits Times' queries about the "Bin the Vape" initiative, regarding concerns about possible repercussions if vape users surrendered their devices. Launched by HSA, the Ministry of Health and the People's Association (PA) on July 25, bins were placed at 23 community clubs (CCs) and one residents' network centre around the island. Possessing, using or buying vapes carries a maximum fine of $2,000, but the authorities said during the launch that no action will be taken against those who voluntarily dispose of their vapes. On July 26, HSA said: "We would like to assure members of the public that the Health Sciences Authority will not be tracing the identities of any persons who had binned the e-vaporisers. "We strongly encourage the public to dispose of their e-vaporisers, if any, using these disposal bins as they offer a confidential, secure and responsible disposal method." The red bin resembles a normal trash bin - but with posters of the initiative plastered on its front and top, promising a safe and confidential disposal of vapes. A CCTV camera aimed at the bin deters theft of the disposed vapes and tampering, but had sparked concerns among some about being watched or identified. Privacy issues involving the use of data came up during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, regarding data collected by contact tracing app and token TraceTogether. The authorities had originally said there was no intention to use TraceTogether data as a means of picking up breaches of existing rules, but later said it could be used for criminal investigations. This was because the Singapore Police Force is empowered under the Criminal Procedure Code to obtain any data, including TraceTogether data, for criminal investigations. HSA also addressed concerns about theft and tampering of the vape disposal bins. It said they are locked and secured to fixtures such as pillars. Once the vapes are dropped inside the bins, they will not be retrievable. Cases of tampering or theft will be referred to the police. HSA said vapes may contain illicit substances like etomidate or controlled drugs and should be disposed of properly in the bins. HSA added: "These designated bins ensure these items are properly contained and destroyed, preventing them from being retrieved and potentially misused." It added these bins will be emptied regularly, and the disposed vapes will be sent to the incineration plants for proper destruction under close supervision. The "Bin the Vape" initiative is meant to encourage vape users to quit before the law catches up with them. The authorities noted that etomidate, a listed poison increasingly found in vapes here, will be classified as a Class C illegal drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act in the coming weeks. On July 25, the authorities reminded vape users and those consuming etomidate to give up their habit immediately. Members of the public can visit to locate the nearest bin. HSA said the locations are not a reflection of rates of vape usage around Singapore, but were decided based on available and convenient locations island-wide and in consultation with the PA. The bins will be progressively placed in other locations, such as at institutes of higher learning. Since July 21, HSA has extended the operating hours for its Tobacco Regulation Branch hotline on 6684-2036 or 6684-2037 to report vaping-related offences. The hotline operates from 9am to 9pm daily, including on public holidays. HSA has also launched a new online portal to report vaping-related offences at
