Grasim Unveils Raysileco: Traceable, Sustainable VFY

Surat, Gujarat, August 1, 2025 — In a bold step toward transparency and sustainability in the textile industry, Grasim Industries' Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business has launched Raysileco, an innovative addition under its Raysil brand. This sustainable Viscose Filament Yarn (VFY) is uniquely designed with full traceability back to its source—responsibly sourced wood pulp from certified, sustainably managed forests. The product made its debut at the 7th edition of Yarn Expo Surat, hosted by The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, marking a key moment for the Indian textile sector. Speaking at the event, Mr. Satyaki Ghosh, CEO of Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business, stated: 'Raysileco embodies the spirit of innovation with robust sustainability credentials and advanced traceability technologies. This launch reflects our drive to evolve with dynamic market needs and delivering value where performance, responsibility, and trust converge.' He added: 'This product not only reinforces our commitment to sustainability and end-to-end traceability but also empowers our value chain partners with confidence to verify and trust every filament they use.' What sets Raysileco apart is its dual-layered traceability—integrating both molecular-level physical markers and technology-driven solutions. These allow every stage of the yarn's lifecycle to be authenticated, from sourcing and production to retail shelves. As Mr. Ghosh further explained, 'The traceability mechanism employs both physical markers and digital technologies. Our partnership with TextileGenesis™ enables secure, blockchain-based traceability for sustainable Viscose Filament Yarn. Using unique digital tokens called Fibercoins™, we track the yarn's journey from source to store, creating a tamper-proof, real-time digital record for brands to monitor.' Raysileco responds to the global fashion industry's growing demand for accountability in sourcing and supply chains. With environmental regulations tightening and consumer awareness rising, traceable, sustainable solutions like Raysileco are poised to lead the shift toward eco-conscious fashion. Produced at Grasim's plants in Kalyan (Maharashtra) and Veraval (Gujarat), Raysileco showcases the company's ongoing investment in smart, scalable, and future-ready manufacturing technologies. Sustainability is embedded throughout the Raysileco lifecycle—from natural-origin raw material sourcing and responsible production processes to its biodegradable end-of-life properties. This aligns with global circular fashion goals and places Grasim at the forefront of sustainable yarn innovation. With Raysil already the only global brand offering Pot Spun Yarn (PSY), Continuous Spun Yarn (CSY), and Spool Spun Yarn (SSY) technologies, the addition of Raysileco marks a new era of tech-integrated, responsibly produced fashion materials. Grasim's Cellulosic Fashion Yarn business is not only meeting the moment—it is setting the benchmark for what's next in traceable and sustainable yarn manufacturing.
