Gallagher brothers on special edition Big Issue covers ahead of Oasis shows

Leader Live10 hours ago

Two special edition covers, each featuring either Liam or Noel Gallagher, will be on sale from Monday, including a complete retrospective on the history of Oasis, with interviews and contributions from those who have photographed, promoted and created sleeve art for the band over the years.
In addition, there is a collection of Liam and Noel's best Big Issue interviews.
The publication has spoken to photographer Kevin Cummins, who captured the big moments, including both cover images, as the band blazed a trail through the 1990s.
Commenting on an early session, Cummins said: 'That's a particular favourite really. If I was their mum, I'd love that session. I'd say: 'Oh, that's a really lovely picture of you two.'
'Plus they look like they like each other. Which of course, they do, but you know… you spend too long with your brother… I can understand all that really easily.'
A limited run of 10 collector's copies, signed by Kevin Cummins, will be available from the Big Issue Shop, with proceeds supporting Big Issue's work to end poverty in the UK.
The long-awaited Oasis Live '25 tour kicks off in Cardiff on July 4 before a run of shows in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
Paul McNamee, UK Editor of the Big Issue, said: 'These covers are a celebration of a band that defined a generation. Over the years Big Issue has been with them, as a band and solo. Our interviews provide incredible insights to the Oasis story.
'The Gallagher rivalry is part of the story, but the music is key. That said, we're keen to see which side Big Issue readers pick.
'Don't miss out – choose your side. Or go for both! The Big Issue will always be here showing to spotlight cultural forces.'

Where to find massive Oasis bucket hat mural in Cardiff before their Principality Stadium gigs

Where to find massive Oasis bucket hat mural in Cardiff before their Principality Stadium gigs A huge tribute to Oasis has been unveiled in the centre of Cardiff just days before the iconic Britpop band reunites for the first time on stage in 16 years at the city's Principality Stadium (Image: ©ALISTAIR HEAP/PA Media Assigments ) There's a massive Oasis mural made of bucket hats to be found in Cardiff to mark the start of the legendary Britpop band's reunion on stage for the first time in 16 years at the city's Principality Stadium. Oasis will perform together for the first time since 2009 this coming Friday (July 4), kicking off a series of massive stadium and outdoor concerts throughout the summer and beyond, spanning major cities in the UK, Ireland, North and South America, and Australia. ‌ But where is this huge - it's 16 foot high! - artwork, made out of white and black bucket hats, an item that became synonymous with indie sartorial style in the '90s? ‌ (Image: ©ALISTAIR HEAP/PA Media Assigments ) Well, the massive mural can be found in St David's Shopping Centre on the upper level of the Eastside dining quarter. That's the bit nearby Shake Shack, TGI's and Zara. Finding St David's itself is relatively easy to find, but pop this address into your map app if you need to: St Davids Dewi Sant, Bridge St, St Davids Centre, Cardiff CF10 2EF. Article continues below (Image: ©ALISTAIR HEAP/PA Media Assigments ) The striking artwork portrays Noel and Liam in an extraordinary manner - composed entirely from black and white bucket hats - and stands at an impressive 16 feet high while extending over 20 feet wide. Commissioned by St David's and realised by acclaimed Welsh artist Nathan Wyburn, the Wonder Wall portrait took four days to finish and is now exhibited on the upper level of the centre's Eastside dining quarter. ‌ It's not far, too, from the pop up Oasis merchandise shop, you can find out more about that, here. Oasis competition: Win tickets to see Oasis at Wembley Over the weekend Liam Gallagher shared the stage time for Oasis, writing on X that the band will be on stage at 8.15pm. In a now-deleted post on X, the singer said: "OASIS on stage 8.15pm Cardiff don't be late or we'll start without you and you don't want that now do ya see ya there LG x." ‌ It seems Liam's trademark honesty on the social platform wasn't appreciated by gig organisers as the post has now been deleted. But, further set times have also exclusively been confirmed by the Mirror, as support acts Cast are due to perform at 6pm and Richard Ashcroft will take to the stage at 7pm. The one thing Oasis are doing in Cardiff to show they are taking comeback 'very seriously'

The one thing Oasis are doing in Cardiff to show they are taking comeback 'very seriously' Oasis are in Cardiff this weekend and they want to be ready to rock and roll Some might say they have a masterplan for the gig (Image: Getty ) With just days to go until Oasis reunite at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, rehearsals and soundchecks at the venue should soon be in full swing. If you've ever been in Cardiff's city centre while bands ready for their shows, you'll know it's a real treat to overhear. However, while some acts keep their soundcheck under wraps it seems that the Gallaghers' will take the opportunity to get their performance pitch perfect. ‌ Oasis will play Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4 and 5 and will also call at Manchester's Heaton Park, Wembley Stadium and Murrayfield in Edinburgh. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here ‌ Set up at the Principality is already well underway, as seen in a seven-days-to-go video released last week, and a soundcheck will be later in the week. The Mirror has reported that Liam and Noel, plus new drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, will take the opportunity to make sure their performance is tip top ahead of Friday and Saturday. A source close to the band told the Mirror: "With a new line up and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. "Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again but there is no time for that and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. Article continues below "This is such a huge comeback show and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour." Last week Noel gave an update on the preparations for the band's reunion tour in a cheeky call into talkSPORT's Jamie O'Hara and Jason Cundy phone in show on Friday (June 26). Noel told the two presenters when they asked how preparations are going: "Yeah, we finished rehearsing Tuesday, we've a few days off now but it's sounding huge." He added: "This is it, there's no going back now," and reassured fans by saying: "It's good."
