Even Sarah Jessica Parker ‘would never wear' some of Carrie Bradshaw's outfits

She couldn't help but wonder… what was Carrie Bradshaw thinking?
Sarah Jessica Parker recently admitted that even she wouldn't step out in some of her 'Sex and the City' character's wildest outfits.
The 'And Just Like That' star, 60, weighed in on Carrie's divisive fashion choices during an appearance on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' on Sunday, July 13.

In a segment called 'The Shady Hat,' inspired by the viral gingham hat Carrie wore in the Season 3 premiere of 'And Just Like That,' Parker was asked if there was 'one thing that Carrie has worn that [she], SJP, would never be caught dead in.'
'I mean, there are piles and piles of laundry… of things that I would never wear,' she answered, only to be asked if she herself would ever sport that hat. 'I'd have to have a really good reason. I probably wouldn't have just strolled around Washington Square Park.'

'I do want to say, that milliner is a woman named Maryam Keyhani, and she's amazing,' the 'Hocus Pocus' actress added. 'That hat is one of many pieces of works of art — whatever you want to do, make it a funny thing — but she's incredible.'

Fan backlash over the hat saw viewers comparing Carrie to Strawberry Shortcake, a reaction 'And Just Like That' costume designer Molly Rogers didn't think was warranted.
'Do you want Carrie to walk through the park with Seema with a straw hat on from L.L.Bean? I don't know, I can do it. I mean, I don't want to,' Rogers told Page Six.

She added, 'That kind of annoyed me, because I think at this point, we're all a big family, we all watched the show, we know what it is. That fazes you?'

Still, Rogers and co-costume designer Danny Santiago were prepared that 'people were going to come for [them].'
Parker, however, was the reason Carrie wore the controversial hat in the first place, she revealed to USA Today last month.

'I saw the hat and wanted it on my head,' she told the outlet. 'At this point, there's no pretend dilly-dallying around. We pretty much just put stuff on my head and photograph it and hope that Michael Patrick [King] ('And Just Like That' creator) is hospitable to the idea.'
6 Sarah Jessica Parker said Carrie's dress felt 'incomplete' without the cloud-like headpiece.

Parker added that the accompanying dress — one she said reminded her of Neapolitan ice cream — felt 'incomplete' without the cloud-like headpiece.
'Once you've put a lot of hats on your head, you feel like it's missing its punctuation point,' she said. 'There was that hat. It was going to be a lovely summer day, and it just felt like the period at the end of the sentence. I loved it, and [King] agreed. I feel we've really worn him down. His eyes have adapted to large-scale things on heads now, so he's pretty generous about how often they can appear.'
King, for his part, told USA Today, 'It's like, 'Hey, everybody, we're back! Here's a hat that Carrie would wear eating sherbet in Washington Square Park. Why not?' I've learned over the years that sometimes logic is not as good as a hat. It makes people say, 'I love it. I hate it. Oh, my God, what was she thinking?''

King also told the outlet he predicts 'it'll be a thing' for months to come.
'It'll be a meme,' he stated. 'People will wear it at Halloween. It's always fun, but with that [hat] particularly, I had to call up some of the writers and say, 'Get ready. Once it's on the head, it's not coming off.''

During her appearance on 'Watch What Happens Live,' Parker also shared her thoughts on which 'Sex and the City' character had the worst style. Parker starred alongside Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York) in the original series.

'I think there were images at one point of us arriving in New York, and the way we dressed — I think there was a montage of our arrival, like newborn babies exposed to nothing,' she said. 'I would say all of us at the beginning.'
Season 3 of 'And Just Like That' premiered on May 29 on HBO Max. Episodes release weekly on Thursdays, with the season finale scheduled for August 14.

Cristin Milioti Talks First Emmy Nomination For ‘The Penguin' & Teases 'Special, Strange And Wonderful' Upcoming Film

Here's to new beginnings for actor Cristin Milioti, who earned her first Emmy nomination for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 77th Emmy Awards for her role as Sofia Falcone in HBO's The Penguin. Though the actor is no stranger to starring in TV shows such as Modern Love, Made for Love, and Black Mirror, which have earned nominations, she admits to keeping her jitters at bay by 'purposefully keeping' her phone at the bottom of her bag, unchecked, until the nominations ceremony had ended. In addition to Milioti's recognition, The Penguin garnered 24 nominations, including Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for Colin Farrell, Limited or Anthology Series, Cinematography in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Directing in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Contemporary Hairstyling and Makeup, and Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup. 'It was definitely that I can't wait to have a big dessert as a treat later. I am so thrilled at the amount of nominations that The Penguin got,' Milioti says. 'I'm thrilled for our directors, my fellow actors, our writers, our hair and makeup team, the visual effects team and the editors. This show took so many people to make this show what it is. You never know who's going to get recognized, so I'm just so deeply thrilled about the amount of recognition we got.' Here, the actor reflects on her role, Emmy nomination and her upcoming film. Black Mirror CRISTIN MILIOTI: I am so happy that I was on two shows, that I loved being a part of getting recognized today. It's very cool. All of that work on The Penguin was totally worth it. Even without any of these additional bells and whistles [that actors do in their process of adapting a character], to be recognized in this way for the show was so lovely and validating. But it was already so deeply meaningful to have had that experience and so deeply worth it because I truly had a profound time making that show and playing Sofia, for I definitely have been spoiled by this show because I just got to do so much with that role, and so much of what I got to do are things that I've been wanting to do and wishing to do for a long time. So, it's definitely affected what I signed on to just because I got spoiled by Lauren LeFranc's writing, our production and by my fellow actors and crew. I'm definitely trying to seek out things that are for sure different tone-wise, but if I can to the best of my ability, I would love to be a part of more things that I love, just as much as I love The Penguin and that The way she is written. I can't talk about Lauren enough. Her writing is extraordinary. And really across the board, we had such a fabulous group of people, an incredible crew, an incredible showrunner, an incredible team of writers, incredible producers and incredible actors. I think what resonates with Sofia, or what resonates with people about Sophia, I'm sure it's different for every person, but I think it's thrilling to watch someone not hold back. You deeply understand where her hurt comes from, and then you get to watch this revenge play out on a big superhero operatic scale while still being rooted in something so real. I mean, I know I love to watch stuff like that, and I loved filming it. She's a villain, but you also root for her. Or at least I did, but obviously I'm biased. On top of that, she's fabulous. She has fabulous clothes, does what she wants, says what she wants, it's She's so smart. She has incredible instincts and she's completely unpredictable. I think that also is one of the funnest parts of her to play. But I think one of the most compelling things about her is that she's unpredictable even to There are so many scenes on the show that I loved doing so much because of what it meant for the character and that I just loved filming. One of them is the dinner scene in Episode 4, when she gives the toast to her family. It's such a beautifully written scene and so beautifully shot. Then, right up there with it is the skipping through the house with the gas mask and gun. There's also a scene in the series with Sofia's niece, when she visits her in the children's home, that was one of my favorites because it's such a great turn for that I'm about to go shoot a movie in Ohio that I'm really excited about, called Buddy, that's the working title, but it's very special, strange and wonderful. I start next week.
