Matchups to Target
Orioles vs. Rockies
After improving during June, Baltimore's offense ranks 29th in runs scored this month. They could get back on track this weekend, when they face a Rockies pitching staff with a 5.50 ERA. Ramón Laureano (16%) has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball, making him a must-add player in any league for this series. Ryan O'Hearn (29%) and Cedric Mullins (51%) are also solid options.
Brewers vs. Marlins
The red-hot Brewers could start off their weekend series on a high note when they face Cal Quantrill (5.24 ERA) on Friday and Jansen Junk (6.3 K/9 rate) on Saturday. Their Sunday matchup with Eury Pérez is challenging but not intimidating. Isaac Collins (4%) remains widely available despite becoming a five-category contributor, making him the player to target. Managers can also consider Caleb Durbin (22%), Andrew Vaughn (9%) and Joey Ortiz (6%).
Phillies @ Yankees
The Phillies could feast on Will Warren and Marcus Stroman on Friday and Saturday before engaging in a tougher matchup with Carlos Rodón on Sunday. The key members of this lineup are widely rostered, but Otto Kemp (2%) is someone to consider while he fills in for Alec Bohm at third base. Brandon Marsh (3%) could also have success against righties in the initial two games.
Mariners @ Angels
Although Seattle's run total may be good rather than great, they should have plenty of baserunners against José Soriano (1.43 WHIP), Tyler Anderson (1.41 WHIP), Kyle Hendricks (1.29 WHIP) and a bullpen with a 1.48 WHIP. Jorge Polanco (31%) has recently broken out of a slump, and rookie Cole Young (2%) has fared well in July. J.P. Crawford (21%) has a low ceiling but is typically effective out of the leadoff spot.
Rangers vs. Braves
Atlanta is running out of starting pitchers, which leaves the hot-hitting Rangers to face Joey Wentz (5.71 ERA) on Friday and Bryce Elder (5.63 ERA) on Sunday. Josh Smith (35%) could score a few runs out of the leadoff spot, and Josh Jung (27%) may be ready to turn around a forgettable season after recently being recalled from the Minors.

Athletics @ Astros
The Athletics could struggle on Friday and Sunday, when they face Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez. Nick Kurtz, Brent Rooker and Tyler Soderstrom are the three lineup members who should stay active everywhere.

Angels vs. Mariners
The Angels will face the toughest part of the Mariners elite rotation when they draw Bryan Woo, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert this weekend. Zach Neto and Mike Trout are the two must-start Angels, and Taylor Ward will remain active in some leagues.

Kevin Ginkel, D-backs (10% Rostered)
Cubs closer Danny Palencia (53%) is the saves source to add in shallow leagues, but he has been mentioned often enough in this space. Instead, I'll go with Ginkel, who is working the ninth inning in a depleted Arizona bullpen. Ginkel has logged a 2.31 ERA since June 20, and he could get multiple save chances when the D-backs face the 42-61 Pirates.
Seeking Steals
Isaac Collins, OF, Brewers (4% Rostered)
Collins has been a revelation for the red-hot Brewers, hitting .299 with an .873 OPS since June 1. He has also flashed speed by swiping 11 bases in 217 at-bats this year. The outfielder could add to his swipes total when he faces a Marlins team that has allowed 14 more steals than any other club. Caleb Durbin (22%) is another good candidate to swipe a base.

StudBudz shoot back after facing fan backlash from Dave Portnoy & Angel Reese controversy
After the WNBA's All-Star weekend, two new stars emerged: Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman, AKA the StudBudz. But after a meteoric rise due to their 72-hour all-access livestream during the All-Star festivities, the Twitch streamers are mired in controversy over Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. Less than a week after gaining countless new devoted fans because their livestream gave a behind-the-scenes look at the WNBA, the two Minnesota Lynx players are facing backlash from fans who are disappointed that Williams and Hiedeman admitted they would consider having Portnoy come on their Twitch show. The controversy kicked off on July 19, when Portnoy shouted out the StudBudz on X, and the pair said they'd be open to talking to him. Fans were immediately up in arms because of Portnoy's very vocal attacks on Chicago Sky star Angel Reese, but now the StudBudz have addressed the backlash. "Okay, so guess what? When Dave comes on, we're gonna ask him, 'Hey Dave, 'Why are you talking about Angel like that?'" Williams said on a July 23 livestream. "Because we love her, bad," Hiedeman added. "Y'all see how simple that is?" Williams continued. "Y'all all over like here like, 'No, no, no!' We don't run away from [this stuff]. ... I don't think he gonna deny it, he seem like the type of guy that's gonna stand on what he feels." The pair continued to defend themselves on another livestream, where they talked about not wanting 'conditional love' from fans. 'We literally just said we open to having a conversations with anybody and that just made everybody be in like shambles,' Williams said. 'It's like c'mon bro. That conditional love, you can keep that, twin. Keep that conditional love because it's going to be a lot of things me and T probably do that y'all probably ain't gonna like.' Yesterday, Williams also took to X to point out that Reese is not upset with the StudBudz over their comments. 'The Studbudz have talked to Angel and she knows we don't play about her AT ALL End of Story,' she wrote. Who is Dave Portnoy? Portnoy caught the StudBudz attention when he posted on X after having watched their All-Star weekend livestream, writing, "I've never downloaded Twitch or any streaming platform in my life. That was until today. Studbudz has done more marketing for the @WNBA with their 72 hour stream than the bozos running the league have done since its inception. They are hilarious and humanize everybody.' But who is Portnoy? Portnoy is a social media personality and businessman who founded Barstool Sports in 2003. What started as a free sports newspaper with edgy, controversial content has since grown into a media empire worth half a billion dollars. Barstool Sports is well known for popular podcasts like Pardon My Take, for helping to popularize Call Her Daddy before the podcast's controversial exit, and Brianna Chickenfry's BFFs podcast before she left the network. Portnoy also made headlines in the past when he was accused of sexual assault by two women who made allegations that were made public in a 2021 Insider exposé. But it is his ongoing criticism of WNBA star Reese that has fans up in arms with the StudBudz because they feel his comments are racially charged. Angel Reese controversy explained Portnoy is a vocal fan of the WNBA and has been a Caitlin Clark stan since she was first drafted, but has directed a lot of ongoing hate at Reese. He has pushed the narrative that Angel Reese is classless, fueling the racially coded way people talk about Reese. He's called her an 'instigator, agitator, and jacka—,' has said that Reese is jealous of Clark, that she "deserved to get booed,' and has gotten angry at people who say his hatred for Reese has anything to do with race. "I'm sick of ESPN making it a race issue," he said in a video posted to X. "You have a superior basketball player who constantly has someone below taking shots at them, won't shut up, and then plays the victim. … If [Angel] didn't have Caitlin, nobody would know who she is. If Caitlin didn't have Angel, it would be the same popularity for Caitlin." After allegations were made that fans were hurling racist comments at Reese during a game against Clark, Portnoy called the WNBA's investigation into the incident 'bulls–t.' Raducanu reaches semi-finals at Washington Open
Britain's Emma Raducanu recovered from 5-2 down in the second set to beat Maria Sakkari in straight sets at the Washington Open and reach her first semi-final of 2025. The 22-year-old, who upset seventh seed Marta Kostyuk in the first round and overcame four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka on Thursday, beat her Greek opponent 6-4 7-5. Raducanu will face either Anna Kalinskaya or fourth seed Clara Tauson in the last four as she bids to reach her first WTA final since winning the US Open in 2021. She told Sky Sports: "I've been doing a lot of good work. Little by little as you get results, you build confidence. "But the amount of work I'm doing behind the scenes, to have that banked, you know you've done it. It takes a little bit of pressure off the results." Raducanu also remains in the hunt for silverware in the women's doubles after reaching the semi-finals with partner Elena Rybanika. Report: Yankees acquire third baseman Ryan McMahon from Rockies for prospects
DENVER — The New York Yankees acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies on Friday for prospects, according to multiple reports. was first to report the trade, which is pending physicals. McMahon leaves the last-place Rockies for a Yankees team that's in the thick of a playoff chase. The slick-fielding 30-year-old infielder is hitting .217 with 16 homers and 35 RBIs this season. McMahon is owed about $36.2 million from the remainder of a $70 million, six-year contract through 2027. New York is searching for some stability at third after All-Star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. was moved back to second base. He took the place of DJ LeMahieu, who was cut by the team. Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas have recently been spending time at the hot corner. McMahon was a second-round pick in 2013 by the Rockies out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. An All-Star in 2024, McMahon is a lifetime .240 batter with 140 homers over parts of nine seasons. He's appeared in four career playoff games - all in 2018. McMahon is due $4,193,548 for the remaining portion of his $12 million salary this year and $16 million in each of the next two seasons.
