Enmore Road has scored a cool new bar by two former Double Deuce Lounge bartenders

Believe it or not, bartender-owned bars are surprisingly rare in Sydney – which is why we're excited to see what hospo duo and owners Claudia 'Beryl' Morgan and Oliver Churcher have in store with Bar Demo. Located on Newtown 's pumping Enmore Road, the new spot is inspired by the casual, no-fuss wine bars you'd stumble upon in San Francisco, Berlin or Paris. Claudia and Olly first met while working at Sydney's award-winning, '70s-cool cocktail bar Double Deuce Lounge. He moved on to Café Paci and Bar Louise, while she worked at restaurants within the Bentley Group. Between late-night shifts, they often talked about opening a place of their own – somewhere relaxed where you could rock up for a drink, no reservation required and have a chat with the bar staff. Claudia says, 'We wanted somewhere open late where we could buy a bottle without sitting down for a meal, listen to some interesting music… a more modern take on a wine bar that's not serious.' Olly adds, 'As relative newcomers to the world of wine, we wanted to create a place where anyone feels welcome to try something new – even if they don't know much.' True to that ethos, the wine list is grouped by mood rather than region – approachable, not intimidating – with plenty of excellent drops under $100. About a dozen or so rotating wines are available by the glass (in 100ml or 150ml pours). Expect a constantly changing selection from both international and Australian producers, with a strong lean towards natural wines. Even the cocktail list is short and seasonal. The Demo Martini, a great pre- or post-dinner option, is served bracingly cold from the freezer with a little more vermouth, and the Full Bush #2 is a mix of bourbon, yuzu and mezcal, topped with chilli threads. Don't miss the 'fun-size cocktails', like the two-sip +/- Colada – tiny in size but big on flavour. The snack menu is simple and designed with booze in mind. Think charcuterie from LP's and Pino's, Cantabrian anchovies, Chappy's chips and cheese. Once a month, Bar Demo will host Sunday pop-ups with guest chefs. First up is Café Paci's chef-owner Pasi Petänen on Sunday, July 27, followed by James Tai from Bentley Restaurant & Bar, and Jade Gilmour from Sixpenny. Talk about a line-up. Don't expect a Spotify playlist on repeat, either. Instead, the music is on vinyl records, with whole albums played from start to finish on a custom-built sound system. The selection? Curated nightly by staff, it spans everything from jazz and punk to rock and disco. Whether it's a quick pre-gig Martini or a post-dinner vino with friends, the vibe at Bar Demo is right up our alley. Bonus: it's dog-friendly, too. Tim Tebow and Miss Universe wife welcome first child together... and reveal heartwarming story behind baby's name

Tim Tebow and his Miss Universe wife have welcomed their first child together. The 37-year-old college football icon and his model wife Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters announced the news with an emotional post on Instagram on Monday. The couple shared a series of black-and-white photos of themselves in the hospital alongside their new daughter. The caption read: 'Our daughter is here! We couldn't be more grateful for the blessing and gift of this new little life. 'We're so grateful to the whole medical team that assisted us in the best way possible during my labor and delivery. From our doctor to our nurses and all the hospital staff — we are so grateful and thankful for you. 'To my sweet friend @hannahjanoe thank you for capturing one of the most special moments of our lives so perfectly. 'Thank you to everyone who's been praying with us over her arrival. We are so incredibly thankful for all of the love and support we've felt. 'We can't wait to share her name with you soon'. However, it didn't take long for that announcement. Just hours later, the couple returned to Instagram to share a joint post which revealed their daughter's name. The post read: 'Meet our daughter, Daphne Reign Tebow. 'Daphne is a name that's been close to my heart since I was a little girl. I never got to meet my mom's mother, but her sister, Daphne, stepped in as a grandma figure to me. 'And Reign… it's a name that holds so much meaning. But more than anything, her name reminds us that when you're adopted into God's family, you become a child of the King. You were made to rule and reign—not in power, but in purpose, love, and identity. 'So here she is — our daughter. Our answered prayer. Daphne Reign Tebow — created in the image of God. Royalty as His princess. Our biggest prayer over her is to reign in God's purpose for her life'. The couple first announced the news that they were expecting a child back in January in a joint Instagram post. The birth of their daughter comes five years after the couple got married At the time, the couple wrote: 'We're over the moon to step into parenthood together'. Tebow and wife married in 2020 and are celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary on January 20. After brief stints with Denver Broncos and New York Jets, the Philippines-born star Tebow was only used in the offseason or as a practice squad member by New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars before being released by the latter in 2021. He has also tried his hand in professional baseball in recent years, signing a minor league baseball contract with the New York Mets in 2016 and playing outfield for the organization for five years.

Videos of her performing in popular clubs to various Egyptian hit songs have garnered millions of views across various social media platforms. But an investigation was reportedly triggered by one of her most shared videos, where Linda performs in a cabaret in a traditional belly dancing costume. The Cairo prosecutor's office accuses the young woman of having "used seduction techniques and provocative dances to incite vice". According to authorities' report, in some videos Linda "deliberately wore provocative clothing and performed dance movements with sexual allusions" They say she therefore disrespected "public decency" and the "values of family and society". Investigators also argued the artist "appeared in indecent clothing, deliberately exposing sensitive areas of her body, in clear violation of social values". She denies all the charges against her and claims she practices her profession in compliance with the law. The dancer said after being arrested: "I have the permits to practice my activity and all the videos circulating on social media are normal. "It is a permitted dance performance and does not contain anything that violates or goes against public morals." Irish TD Paul Murphy detained in Egypt and passport confiscated after bus stopped amid March to Gaza She added that the content she records is "only for entertainment purposes". Whilst belly dancing isn't prohibited in Egypt, videos on social media have to comply with the country's values. Egypt has increased its cruel crackdowns on artists and influences accused of offending public morals. Under Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's government, at least five belly dancers have been horrifically jailed on charges similar to those given to Linda. The Pharaoh nation sucks in a staggering 18 million tourists each year, and the industry props up around 10 per cent of the whole economy. But beyond the plush resorts of the popular Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada - Egypt is covering up its dark underbelly. The country's brutal police force deals in bribes and locks people up on bogus charges, including Brit holidaymakers. Egypt's picture-postcard image is being tested, with a former British ambassador to the country recently branding it a "police state". 5 Videos of her performing in popular clubs to various Egyptian hit songs have garnered millions of views Credit: Instagram
