AT&T announced its plans to accelerate its fiber network expansion following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The new piece of legislation gives tax breaks to businesses and, among other things, makes more wireless airwaves available so companies can build faster internet and phone networks. Central to the legislation is the establishment of a pipeline of midband spectrum, which will help meet the growing demand for mobile data and enable faster, more reliable networks. AT&T expressed appreciation to key political figures, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Brett Guthrie, for their role in advancing the bill. The company also thanked President Donald Trump for making spectrum availability and capital investment a priority during the reconciliation process.

Ironically, the news comes just days after Trump publicly criticized AT&T on Truth Social following technical difficulties during a conference call with Faith Leaders. Frustrated by the disruption, Trump urged AT&T to "get its act together" and suggested he might consider switching to another carrier for the next conference call. While AT&T responded to the incident via social media without offering detailed explanations, the remarks briefly impacted the company's stock, causing a temporary dip before stabilizing.
The timing of Trump's criticism coincided with the Trump Organization's announcement of a new wireless venture, Trump Mobile, which aims to enter the market with a branded $499 smartphone and service that could operate across multiple major networks, potentially including AT&T 's own infrastructure. Some observers noted the coincidence, suggesting that as Trump positions himself within the telecom space, his influence on public perception and market dynamics could grow. There's a fine, almost invisible line between theorizing and daydreaming – and today, I plan to exploit the former without dipping my all ten fingers into the latter. Maybe just the thumbs. The Pixel 10 Pro (and its siblings, the vanilla flagship Pixel 10, the exotic Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the same-but-larger Pixel 10 Pro XL) are all expected to drop on August 20. Their imminent launch is not the only reason I'm drawing Google's latest and greatest to your eyeballs. I find three important reasons to pay extra attention to the approaching Pixel 10 Pro : I'm also on the search for the next best thing I haven't bent the knee to a particular brand or device I have extensive experience with a particular Pixel phone And, of course, I feel like checking them out because I'm curious if they'll live up to people's expectations: Google's Pixels are getting more and more popular (even in Japan, as it turns out) and many US customers ditch both Apple and Samsung for the Big G experience. So, if I was on the lookout for a new smartphone in 2025, these would be my top three points of consideration. What could make or break the Pixel 10 Pro 's experience for me is whether Google can bake in practical, helpful AI that enhances daily life without becoming intrusive, gimmicky, or privacy-invasive. Google's Gemini AI will surely take center stage, potentially transforming everything from voice commands to real-time translation, photo editing, and on-device assistance. But these tools need to be seamless: I want features that work when I need them and disappear when I don't. I don't want my phone second-guessing me, suggesting things I don't need, or feeding off personal data without consent. Google has to find the right balance between smart and simple, powerful and private. If the Pixel 10 Pro delivers AI that genuinely improves productivity, saves time, and respects user privacy, it could become the go-to device for people who, like me, value control over their tech without sacrificing cutting-edge innovation. Years ago, I was the happiest Pixel 3a user out there: I got it on a great Black Friday deal and was blown away by what this little fella could do. It had a great battery life (particularly at the lower end: those 4% remaining capacity saved me on numerous occasions) until it got degraded (that's only natural), it took amazing photos with its single rear camera, it never stuttered or let me will the Pixel 10 Pro be enough of a phone to make me convert back to Google (I'm currently rocking an Oppo camera-centric flagship) – or should I stay where I'm at? I'll be happy to test the Pixel 10 Pro and see for myself if the three things that I crave are present. Galaxy S26 Ultra camera leak suggests Samsung might play it safe
Samsung's next premium flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is now starting to show up more and more in leaks and rumors. We've recently heard its battery may be disappointing, or at least – well, the same as previous years – and now, a new report is giving us info about the phone's telephoto camera. And, well, it doesn't seem too exciting either. The report comes from GalaxyClub and indicates that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may come with a 50MP telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom lens. Reportedly, it is also a 1/2.52-inch sensor with 0.7µm pixels, PDAF, and OIS. Well, this is the same telephoto camera that Samsung used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. And in the Galaxy S24 Ultra too. There were rumors earlier that Samsung may use a 200MP ISOCELL sensor for the Galaxy S26 Ultra 's telephoto camera. This isn't entirely out of the question just yet, as the S26 Ultra may have two telephoto camera units. For now, what we expect with a certain level of trustworthiness is that one of these two telephoto units has a 50MP sensor. The other one has not leaked yet. It is very likely that the same ultrawide will be available for the Galaxy S26 Ultra as well. The main camera may also be the same 200MP one, as per rumors. So, right now, the biggest mystery is this second telephoto sensor, and hopefully, there we can see an upgrade. Meanwhile, an earlier report indicated Samsung may bring variable aperture back on the Galaxy S26 Ultra , but as an early report that is yet to be corroborated, we should take this with a grain of salt. It's also possible for Samsung to use thinner camera modules for the phone to achieve a slim-chic profile. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be announced sometime in early next year. It will face the yet-unannounced iPhone 17 Pro Max in the battle for the best phone on the market. For now, it seems Samsung may not be planning to upgrade the cameras on its beast, but rumors indicate some nice upgrades for the iPhone, so the Korean company may have a tough challenge to beat. I personally think that if Samsung really sticks with the same camera setup for the third year in a row, it might disappoint fans who were hoping for something fresh and exciting. Even though the current sensors are solid, people expect innovation from a flagship like the S26 Ultra – especially when competitors like Apple are rumored to be stepping things up.
