Caitlin Clark Turns Heads With Response to WNBA Commissioner's Big Reveal
Due to two separate injuries, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has missed seven games this season.

The first five absences resulted from a left quadriceps injury, while the most recent absences have stemmed from a groin injury. Unlike the first injury that saw her immediately declared out for at least a couple of weeks, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year told ESPN on Sunday that she is "day-to-day" with the groin injury.
However, fans around the WNBA have begun to put on their conspiracy theory hats after the Indiana Fever released a video of Clark speaking with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
As shared to social media on Sunday, Engelbert called Fever coach Stephanie White to relay the news that Clark would be a WNBA All-Star captain, after receiving a league-high 1,293,526 fan votes.
In that same conversation, Engelbert also wished the Fever luck for their WNBA Commissioner's Cup Championship game against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.

A message that led Clark to express her confidence in the team's chances.
"Yeah, we about to get that dub Cathy," Clark said.
While Clark may have been doing it for laughs from her teammates, she also sparked speculation that she'd be returning to the court.
"We about to get that dub, Cathy. So she'll be playing? I hope," said one fan.
"All i heard was 'we," wrote another.
"So..she's playing?? 😭," questioned a third.
"She might be playing 👀," commented another fan.
"All I heard is she's playing. My goat 😭❤️😭❤️😭," added another.
"She might be playing? 👀👀👀," said another.

The Fever are likely hopeful she can return as they have gone 3-4 on the year without her. If she does return, she will likely be hoping to snap out of her rough patch from deep, as she is 1-of-23 from 3 in her last three appearances.

Whether she plays or not, the show must go on. Tuesday's game will tip at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Target Center and will air on Prime Video.

Jets UDFA DB Dean Clark is underdog worth watching
The New York Jets are slated to enter training camp with 15 undrafted free-agent rookies on their 90-man roster. That's the number of UDFAs they agreed to terms with following the 2025 NFL draft. One underdog worth monitoring throughout camp is former Fresno State defensive back Dean Clark. Clark agreed to an undrafted deal with the Jets that guaranteed him $160,000. Jets GM Darren Mougey likely faced competition for his signature and made him a strong offer. It increases Clark's chances to make the 53-man roster coming out of training camp. Clark posted phenomenal numbers at Fresno State's pro day. Clark has decent size at 6-foot, 208 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in a stellar 4.51 seconds, and also leaped a 41-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump at his pre-draft athletic showcase. He wasn't invited to the NFL combine. Clark began his collegiate career at Kent State. He experienced a breakout season in 2021, recording 117 tackles. After missing the majority of 2022, he transferred to Fresno State ahead of 2023. Clark was productive in two seasons at Fresno State, posting 146 tackles, four interceptions, and nine pass breakups. The Jets are deep at safety. Veterans Tony Adams and Andre Cisco are penciled into starting roles. Rookie fourth-rounder Malachi Moore is likely the top rotational option off the bench. Jarius Monroe and Jaylin Simpson are also contending for roster spots. Clark has his work cut out for him, but the rookie UDFA possesses the athleticism and production to make an impression at camp.

Yordan Alvarez injury update: Astros slugger to see specialist after setback in broken right hand
The Houston Astros are off to another dominant start this season. Entering play Wednesday, the team sits at 51-34 and holds a seven-game lead in the American League West. And if that wasn't impressive enough, they've been able to get there despite a lengthy absence from their best hitter. Yordan Alvarez has been sidelined since early May due to a hand injury, and it doesn't sound like he's going to be back soon. Advertisement Alvarez experienced a setback in his broken right hand Tuesday, and will see a specialist to try and solve the issue. After sitting for nearly two months, Alvarez started participating in workouts in June. He took swings at the team's complex Monday, but reported pain the following day. Astros general manager Dana Brown said the team wouldn't rush Alvarez back following the setback, per ESPN. "We're not going to try to push it or force him through anything. We're just going to allow him to heal and get a little bit more answers as to what steps we take next." It's a disappointing development for Alvarez, who seemed to be nearing his return. On Sunday, Brown expressed some optimism that Alvarez could return in time for the team's upcoming series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 4. The setback makes it extremely unlikely Alvarez will take part in that series. It also marks yet another troubling trend for the Astros' medical staff, which originally misdiagnosed Alvarez's injury as a muscle strain. The team experienced the same mistake last season, when star outfielder Kyle Tucker missed significant time after the team initially misdiagnosed his shin injury. Advertisement When healthy, Alvarez is one of the best hitters in the majors. The 28-year-old holds a career slash line of .295/.387/.573 over seven years in the majors. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2019, is a three-time All-Star and has finished in the top-10 in MVP voting twice. He's also excelled when the Astros needed him most, and has a .294/.393/.551 slash line in 60 playoff games with the franchise. The Astros found a way to thrive despite Alvarez's injury. The team posted a .536 winning percentage in May after Alvarez went down, and followed that up by going 19-7 in June, propelling the Astros to the top of the AL West standings. Alvarez will undoubtedly provide a huge boost to the team once he's ready to return. That should be a scary thought to every other AL team, which has failed to keep the Astros down despite the loss of their best hitter.

Remarkably, this was the third straight game that Stephanie White's squad played without star guard Caitlin Clark, who remains out with a groin injury. Natasha Howard was named MVP of the game, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Aliyah Boston was close behind with 12 points and 11 boards. MORE: Angel Reese recognized with historic stat amid dominating week Sophie Cunningham provided a spark off the bench, contributing 13 points and seven rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell and Aari McDonald were the other two double-digit scorers, with both players finishing with 12 points. Advertisement Defensively, the Fever were outstanding. Clark's status for that game remains questionable. MORE WNBA NEWS:
