The band, made up of Matthew Murphy, Tord Overland Knudsen and Dan Haggis, also saw their manager Simon Bobbett receive a companionship.
Sir Sam, who is currently planning a set of four individual but interconnected films based on the lives of each of the members of The Beatles, received his companionship via video link as he could not make the ceremony.
Lester starred in the 2021 Broadway production of The Lehman Trilogy, directed by Sir Sam, with his role seeing him nominated for a Tony Award, and the actor has also appeared in BBC series Hustle, 2004 film The Day After Tomorrow and US TV series The Rook.
Others being honoured by Sir Paul were director Gay Linvill, who has directed episodes of The Big Bang Theory, and Go Live Theatre chief executive and arts accessibility campaigner Sita McIntosh.
The LIPA's principal and chief executive Professor Sean McNamara said: 'Today is a celebration of creativity, collaboration and possibility.
'As artists, innovators, and leaders who will inspire others through their work, the graduating class of 2025 possesses the skills, the vision and the confidence to influence culture and the world around them.
'We are immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing the future they create.'
The LIPA was founded by Sir Paul and Mark Featherstone-Witty in 1996, on the site of the old Liverpool Institute – the former school of both Sir Paul and Beatles bandmate George Harrison, and the adjacent Liverpool Art College once attended by John Lennon.
This year's graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of around 420 graduating students from more than 30 countries, including Colombia, Hong Kong and India.

Glasgow Barrowlands' ‘number one fan' to be celebrated after passing
From a young age, John 'Soapy' Soutar was a music fanatic. From The Beatles to The Jesus and Mary Chain, Soapy was a huge lover of listening to the famous bands, the rising stars and – above all - supporting grassroots bands and venues. (Image: Image of Soapy, supplied) 'Soapy was massively into music,' Susan Soutar, John's wife, told the Glasgow Times. Susan and John met when they were 'just wains' through mutual friends at the pub. Recalling their first meeting, Susan, 53, said: 'I was 16 and he was 18 when we first met. We grew up together and got married in 1993. 'We bonded over The Beatles, and he was a big one for going to gigs. Our first date was on April 30, 1988, at the Barrowlands. We went to see The Primitives. 'He loved the Barrowlands because it was part of our story, but also because it was preserved in an old-fashioned way and never tried to be trendy. He loved the size of it and the excitement of being in that atmosphere right before a band took to the stage.' (Image: Image of Soapy, supplied) Soapy passed away on May 3 after being diagnosed with Melanoma in September 2021. Though he was successfully treated, he fell in the house in March and burst his head open. He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, and it was discovered that the Melanoma had returned, and cancer had spread to his brain. He was just 55 years old. Soapy's funeral was held at the Barrowlands. Alec Dowie, a friend of Soapy's, first met him when Alec was doing social media for the venue. Soapy had called Alec asking for advice on how to host an online music festival for charity. The festival raised £1m for charity and included sets from the likes of Kyle Falconer, The Blossoms and US rockers Counting Crows. Alec said: 'There are certain guys in life who are a catalyst for music in Scotland – that was Soapy. He supported grassroots bands like Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5 and ran the James' fan group in Scotland.' But Soapy wasn't just about supporting music and charity – he also made it his priority to support people. Susan said: 'He was so positive and always wanted to make people laugh, spreading joy and sparkle. 'He was the type of person to quietly notice when something wasn't right with somebody, either they had posted something negative or hadn't posted in ages. He always reached out and asked if he could help. 'People have come up to me since he passed and have said how much he was there for them during tough times.' (Image: Image of Soapy, supplied) To honour the amazing guy Soapy was, Soapyfest will be held at the Barrowlands to raise money for Beatson and Marie Curie. The decision for the event came as Alec believed John deserved more than to just 'fade away'. Soapyfest will take place on August 31 and will feature live performances from the likes of Colonel Mustard, Ken McCluskey of the Bluebells and a DJ set from Phill Jupitus. (Image: Gavin Mitchell as his iconic Still Game character, Boaby the Barman) Still Game's Gavin Mitchell - who was a personal friend of Soapy's - will be the evening's compère. Speaking on Soapy's renowned selflessness, Gavin recalled going to visit him during his final weeks. He said: 'He was asking about this new band and that one. Even towards the end, he was always thinking about others. 'He was so selfless. I think more people should be that way. We should all be more like John. 'I hope this event reminds people to spread joy and be kind to everyone, especially in the world we are living in right now, because that's exactly what John was like.' It is understood that he is the only fan ever to receive one. The event will run from 6pm to 11pm and each band will perform a cover of a James song, given Soapy's love of the band. Tickets for the event can be purchased HERE Though the event is expected to be an incredible night with great music, Susan admitted it will also be an emotional one. She said: 'He would be beyond tickled and chuffed by this. He had a healthy ego about him, and it would please him immensely to know this was being hosted in his honour. 'It will be a night of mixed emotions, but the main one will be pride. I am so proud of the effect he had on so many people's lives, in small and large ways, and I'm super grateful for the many years we had together. 'Yes, he died too young, we both had plans that we could not see through together, but we had 37 very good and happy years together as true soulmates, and not many people get that.'

Jake Paul needs just six brutal words to shut down Conor McGregor
McGregor has hinted a return to action over the last few months and - following his latest training video - Paul has offered his brutal verdict Jake Paul brutally ripped into Conor McGregor after the UFC legend uploaded another video of him training amid talks of a potential return. The Irishman has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier back in 2021. McGregor was due to make his return to the cage last year against Michael Chandler, but was forced to withdraw from the contest after picking up an injury in training. Recently, US president Donald Trump confirmed his ambitious plan to host a UFC event at the White House. Many fighters have expressed their interested in taking part on the card - including McGregor. Over the last few weeks, the 37-year-old has ramped up training. Last week, the 'Notorious' shared a series of videos and photos in which he can be seen having blood taken and even giving a urine sample to testers. 'I gave my first blood test that is what the plaster is on my shoulder,' McGregor captioned a video of himself breathing into the camera. 'I am ECSTATIC! I'm in SHAPE! #illtakeyourheadoffforreal #fullgrown @ufc #TheBig20.' On his Instagram story, he shared a photo of a blood testing kit, as well as photos of his urine and blood being taken. In one picture, he can be seen hold a cup of his sample. "I p*** excellence," he said. McGregor has been enjoying some time away with his family, but still has time on his hands to post the occasional training video. The former dual-weight UFC champion took to social media, showing off some shadow boxing along with some sharp high kicks. Many have been left excited about the prospect of McGregor returning, but one man who has been left unconvinced is Paul - who commented under the footage: "Bro just give it up lol." Both McGregor and Paul have traded barbs over the last few months. Back in January, the UFC legend threatened to slap both Jake and Logan Paul during a fiery and intense confrontation in Washington. The Irishman issued a chilling threat to the pair on a bus on the way to Trump's inauguration. "This is the real deal, you know that bro. We'll do it,' McGregor said. 'We can do what? 190, 195lbs? [Jake] was sick. He was sick over it! Listen, here's the deal. I'm going to slap the head off the two of you and KSI. 'You are nixers to me. Do you understand that? Side jobs.' Despite being left baffled by the comments, Logan refused to back down as was quick to take a swipe at McGregor's inactivity in the UFC. "You can't even do your main job,' he joked. 'How are you going to do a side job?' McGregor's business partner, BKFC supremo Dave Feldman, recently revealed the Irishman has re-entered the UFC testing pool. In a chat with Ariel Helwani, Feldman confirmed McGregor's plan to fight next year. "He's got two fights left on his contract. He's got to get right," he said. "The whole world is waiting. Is he going to get in shape and fight? He told me in person, he whispered in my ear, he said, 'I'm in the testing pool. I'm getting ready to make my comeback. I'm going to fight on that big card, then I'm going to have another fight, and then we can talk.'" When is Jake Paul's next fight? Following his victory over Julio Chavez Jr back in June, Paul is set to compete once more before the year concludes. The American is now eligible to challenge for a world championship after being included in the WBC's cruiserweight rankings following his triumph over the former middleweight titleholder. The 28-year-old's manager disclosed that his business associate is eager to compete for a world crown 'as soon as possible'. Nevertheless, he acknowledges it's unlikely to be his next bout, given the current situation at 200lbs. "Absolutely [he will fight again this year]. November or December," Bidarian told Ariel Helwani when asked about Paul's next steps. "I'm seeing him tonight for dinner, and we will have a conversation [about his next opponent]. The only possibility right now is that Jake wants to fight for a belt as soon as possible. I have to talk to him, I think it's tough this year [to box for a world title]. Badou Jack is who he wants to fight more than anyone, and he has a mandatory rematch with the guy he just beat [Noel Mikaelian] for the WBC. I don't know if this year is possible [for the title fight], but we'll see."

Where all the forgotten Love Island finalists are now after they failed to cling onto fame and fortune after ITV2 show
Find out what happened to some of Love Island's most famous faces rocky roads Where all the forgotten Love Island finalists are now after they failed to cling onto fame and fortune after ITV2 show Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WHILST reaching the Love Island final might seem like a golden ticket to fame and fortune and an endless career in the spotlight, things don't always go quite to plan for the Islanders. Despite most of the show's finalists going on to enjoy successful careers, including some as A-listers and multi-millionaires, for an unlucky few, they plunged back into obscurity just months after their time in the spotlight. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 8 These stars all reached the final of Love Island but quickly disappeared from fame Credit: Rex Features 8 But what came to be of the once fan favourites? Credit: Rex Whilst many dream of the seven-figure deals that roll in for icons including Molly-Mae Hague, Ekin-Su and Maura Higgins - a handful of Islanders haven't been so fortunate. As another four couples head into this Monday's Love Island final, will they be set for life or will one or two of them fall victim to the curse of disappearing from relevancy like these stars. The Sun has compiled a list of the famous finalists who failed to strike it big and make an impact after their summer of love in the spotlight. Paul Knops 8 Hunky Paul came second behind Dani Dyer but soon faded out of the limelight Hunky model Paul was already well on the way to making a name for himself after becoming one of the world's most in-demand male models. He was even chosen to be Britney Spears' love interest for her racy 2016 music video, Make Me..., which saw him getting hot and heavy with the star. So when Paul strutted into the Love Island villa as a late entrant in 2018, it seemed like a no-brainer that he was on track to become a top star. Paul coupled up with fan favourite Laura Anderson after her split from Wes Nelson. Laura and Paul ended up making it all the way to second place - just behind Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham. But the pair quickly split up after Majorca and whilst Laura remained in the headlines and on TV screens, Paul's star faded just as quick as his time in the villa. Whilst his looks haven't faded, it seems the handsome fella prefers living a quieter life away from the hustle and bustle of influencer life. Love Island exes Laura Anderson and Paul Knops agree to move on in Christmas Reunion heart-to-heart Paul still models and his Instagram shows him picture perfect at all times with his new long-haired locks. Lana Jenkins 8 Lana failed to follow in the footsteps of the ladies who came before her When blonde stunner Lana was revealed to be an Islander on series nine of the show in 2023, she seemed like a ready made celebrity. She quickly found herself besotted with partner Ron Hall and they managed to make it all the way to second place in the villa. But despite Lana aligning herself with the same team behind Olivia Attwood, she failed to make a dent in the entertainment industry after her time on the show. Despite the expectation of big brand deals, Lana's commercial work was limited and it wasn't long until her romance with co-star Ron also crumbled at the same time her career stalled. Although she failed to hit the big time, Lana still boasts 500,000 fans on Instagram and shows off glam snaps from her plush travels around the world. She also runs her own home Instagram account to show off her passion for interior design. Josh Oyinsan 8 Hunky Josh's career hasn't taken off 12 months on from the villa Despite only winning the show last summer alongside then-partner, Mimii Ngulube, Josh struggled to translate his win into a long-lasting media career. When Josh and Mimii quickly split following their win, interest in the couple wavered and Josh failed to land any major gigs despite being crowned a champion. Whilst Josh has managed to land a number of paid partnerships on Instagram after the show, it pales in comparison to some of the brand deals landed by his counterparts. His passion for wellness and advocating for the mental health of young athletes has been commendable however and earned him a legion of support. Ched Uzor 8 Ched focused on fitness instead of fame Series six Islander Ched was another star whose place in the final did not guarantee a lengthy career afterwards. He found himself in a relationship with Jess Gale and the loveable pair managed to make it to fourth place on the programme. But their love did not prevail and they called it quits shortly after the show. Ched then found his own career disrupted by the Covid pandemic and he failed to land any big-money gigs. However, despite turning his back on fame, Ched has managed to carve out an online fitness business. Known for his impressive figure and muscly body, Ched has put this to use by helping his followers get in shape and achieve a dream body like his. Titled Shred with Ched, he has launched the app to become an instant personal trainer to people up and down the country. Some of the services that Ched offers includes one-to-one coaching as well as personally curated nutrition and workout plans for each client. Tanya Manhenga 8 Tanya now hosts nightclub parties after Love Island Like her co-star Lana, Tanya hoped that her time on series nine of Love Island would turn her into a money-spinning star. However, the reality was very different. After finishing in fourth place with then-boyfriend, Shaq Muhammad, Tanya struggled to replicate the success of the ladies who came before her after failing to couple up with a big-money fashion brand. These days, Tanya is living a single life after splitting with Shaq and enjoys a jet-setting lifestyle. Helping her travelling habit is her latest venture titled Grooves with TT. It is Tanya's own touring club night featuring exclusively Amapiano music. The star held her first club night in Manchester earlier this year with plans for an event in London next month before taking it across Europe. She also kept her post-villa income topped up with her own wig business, called Tay Slay Wigs. Lauren Richardson 8 Lauren has quit fame altogether and works as a PE teacher Lauren managed to make it all the way to the final of Love Island back in 2015. Despite being coupled up with Josh Ritchie, that didn't help her when it came to securing a top career. Whilst Josh has been a TV regular and shot to even greater fame thanks to his romance with Charlotte Crosby, Lauren quickly faded into obscurity. Heavily tattooed Lauren is worlds away from the typical Islander, with her Instagram feed showing a much more demure and laid-back life in comparison to the glitz and glam of the usual crop of ITV2 stars. Lauren hasn't updated her feed since 2021 and chooses to keep her life out of the spotlight. Exactly a decade from her time in the Majorcan villa, Lauren has shunned fame and now works as a PE teacher and nutritionist.
