Air Arabia introduces new non-stop flights to Almaty
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the capital's first low-cost carrier, has announced the addition of a new non-stop route to Almaty in Kazakhstan from Zayed International Airport. Starting June 3rd, 2025, the new service will operate three times a week every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, said: 'We are glad to launch our new service to Almaty, further expanding our international reach from Zayed International Airport. This new route reflects our commitment to offering passengers affordable and reliable travel options while enhancing connectivity from the UAE's capital with key international markets.'
He added:' As we aim to contribute to the city's growth as a leading hub for tourism and business, we remain focused on meeting the growing demand for low-cost travel, offering our passengers even greater choice and convenience.'
With the addition of Almaty, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi now connects 30 destinations directly from Zayed International Airport, offering travellers a broad range of options for both regional and international travel.
The new route reinforces Air Arabia Abu Dhabi's commitment to connecting the UAE's capital to diverse international destinations while promoting tourism and trade between the two cities. Almaty, known for its breathtaking natural landscapes, bustling markets, and rich cultural heritage, is an ideal destination for both leisure and business travellers.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi operates a modern fleet of 10 Airbus A320 aircraft, the most modern and best-selling single aisle aircraft in the world. The agreement will see SalamAir integrate Osprey's data-led platform into flight planning, operational decision-making, and security management. While major carriers have long incorporated advanced security systems into their operations, SalamAir's move highlights a broader shift among low-cost airlines towards adopting similar technologies as part of their digital and operational strategies. SalamAir currently operates a fleet of 13 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, flying more than 80 daily services. It is preparing to expand its fleet, with two aircraft set for delivery in July 2025 and a further 10 on order, aiming to grow to 25 aircraft by 2028. 'With Osprey, we are not just managing risk, we are mitigating it,' said Capt. Salim Al Khatri, Director of Flight Operations at SalamAir. He described the agreement as part of the airline's ongoing efforts to place safety and technology at the core of its operations.

UAE Flights: Air Arabia Starts Resuming Operations
Sharjah-based airline Air Arabia confirmed on Wednesday that it has started resuming operations on previously suspended flights. 'As regional airspace continues to open, Air Arabia is gradually resuming operations. Customers are advised to visit to check the latest updates and their flight status. Affected passengers will be notified directly via SMS and email,' the airline said. 'Air Arabia remains fully committed to the safety of our customers and crew, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this period,' the airline added. In an earlier update, the airline said it had temporarily suspended all flights to and from Iran, Iraq, Russia, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan until June 30. Jordan flights were on hold until June 26. Earlier today, Dubai-based carrier flydubai said it will resume operations to the Syrian capital from June 26, 2025. This move comes as more airspace in the region reopens and restrictions are lifted. The carrier plans to resume its full schedule across the network from July 1, following the completion of all necessary assessments. 'This remains a developing situation, and both flight and network planning are continuously reviewed, with flydubai operating within approved international air corridors and adjusting frequencies as required,' the airline said. In Abu Dhabi, Etihad flights to Tel Aviv, will remain suspended until July 15, the Abu Dhabi-based airline said. Meanwhile, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has cancelled flights to and from the UAE until June 30, in line with a similar move by Hungarian carrier Wizz Air. Dubai's flagship carrier, Emirates, announced on Tuesday that its regularly scheduled flight operations have fully resumed, experiencing only 'minimal disruptions'. Air India flight returns to Thai island after bomb threat
An Air India flight from Thailand's Phuket island to New Delhi made an emergency landing yesterday shortly after takeoff because of an on-board bomb threat, the Thai airports authority said. Airports of Thailand said on its Facebook page for Phuket that the pilot of the Airbus A320 radioed air traffic control that a bomb-threat message had been found on board. 'We received a report of a bomb threat written inside the aircraft's bathroom, so the pilot informed the control tower and decided to divert the flight to Phuket International Airport after circling to burn off fuel,' Monchai Tanode, director of Phuket International Airport told a press conference. 'Police have brought in several suspects, but have not yet been able to identify who wrote the message,' Monchai added. Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 showed the Phuket flight making a U-turn over the Andaman Sea soon after takeoff, then circling multiple times off the island's coast before landing. The flight finally took off at 4:28 pm (0928 GMT), the website showed, more than seven hours after its scheduled departure.
