Speaking on the occasion, she said, 'Those who came with the wind, have gone with the wind,' in a direct jibe at the previous YSRCP government. She accused former CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of failing to fulfill promises, citing the Amma Vodi scheme where only one child in a family received benefits instead of two as initially promised.
The minister praised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as a leader who keeps every promise made to the people. She said the 'Talliki Vandanam' scheme has brought smiles to countless mothers by ensuring quality education, free midday meals with fine rice, Rs 2,500 worth school bags, and uniforms to children. She credited minister for education Nara Lokesh for these successful initiatives.
She also highlighted that pensions were raised to Rs 4,000 and are being disbursed on time every month.
Emphasising the government's commitment to development, she said the state is now racing forward with projects like Polavaram and Amaravati, and industries are once again showing interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh. She called Chandrababu Naidu a symbol of development.
The Minister also announced that from August 15, women in the state will receive free bus travel as part of a new welfare initiative.
Several coalition leaders and party workers also participated in the event.

Shillong: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman concluded her four-day Meghalaya visit on Sunday with a trip to the historic Ramakrishna Mission School in Sohra, where she paid homage to Swami Vivekananda, government officials said. I want to place on record my appreciation for Meghalaya's efforts. The funds are being fully utilised. Some states have struggled to use their entire share, but Meghalaya has made the most of its allocation." Meanwhile, the Union Finance Minister toured the Ramakrishna Mission School's vocational training centre on Sunday, interacting with around 100 women receiving free weaving training -- a key empowerment initiative she praised. Swami Anuragananda, Secretary of the Mission, highlighted Union Minister Sitharaman's enduring ties to the institution. "She took keen interest in our century-long journey, from education and healthcare to community service, and acknowledged our impact," he said. The Union Minister also engaged with local entrepreneurs and trainees, applauding their resilience. The school's storied alumni -- including former Meghalaya Chief Minister B.B. Lyngdoh, MP G.G. Swell, and former Assembly Speaker Donkupar Roy -- drew her attention, underscoring the institution's role in shaping leaders. The visit coincided with its centenary celebrations, marked by Union Minister Sitharaman planting a sapling as a symbol of enduring legacy. Dignitaries like Padma Shri awardee Theilin Phanbuh, a women's welfare advocate, and 90-year-old Lolin Lyndem -- an alumnus and former teacher -- joined the event.

Karnataka transport minister urges Centre to provide direct subsidy to states for electric buses
MANGALURU: Karnataka Transport Minister B. Ramalinga Reddy has called on the central government to directly provide subsidies to state governments for procuring electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, instead of routing them to private operators through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Speaking at the inauguration of the automated driving test track at Pajir near Mangaluru on Sunday, Reddy said the procurement and operation of electric buses was much smoother during the UPA regime. 'At that time, electric buses cost around Rs 20 lakh. The central government provided 50% of the funding, while the state government and transport corporations each contributed 25%. This model worked efficiently for state-run services like BMTC, NWKRTC, and NEKRTC,' he said. Under the current NDA government, however, Reddy pointed out that subsidies are granted directly to private companies through a bidding process. 'These private operators own the buses, hire drivers, and manage maintenance, while state corporations only provide conductors and pay the operator on a per-kilometre basis,' he added. He urged the Centre to revert to a model where subsidies go directly to state transport corporations. 'This would ensure better accountability, especially when drivers are employed directly by the state,' he said. Reddy also highlighted the steep rise in electric bus costs—now around Rs 2 crore—and appealed to the Centre to offer GST input credits to manufacturers. 'This will bring down manufacturing costs, making buses more affordable for states and beneficial for passengers,' he said. He further recommended that operators be allowed to charge electric buses at any facility, not just at government-run charging stations. 'Private stations offer power at Rs 3–Rs 4 per unit, compared to Rs 8 at government facilities,' Reddy noted.

Tensions In Madhya Pradesh's Harda As Cops Use Tear Gas On Protesters
Bhopal: Violence broke out in Harda, Madhya Pradesh, as police fired tear gas shells and used water cannons to disperse protesters from the Karni Sena Parivar, who were demanding action in a fraud case involving one of their members. At least 50 people, including Karni Sena Parivar's national president Jeevan Singh Sherpur, have been detained. The situation remains tense with heavy police deployment and widespread anger among protestors. According to officials, forces from Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Sehore, Dewas, and Khandwa districts have been deployed to maintain law and order. The police resorted to a lathi charge three times in two days to contain the escalating protest. The agitation stems from a case filed by Ashish Rajput, a Karni Sena member, who alleged he was cheated of Rs 18 lakh in a fake diamond deal by three individuals-Vikas Lodhi, Mohit Verma, and Umesh Tapaniya. Police had arrested Mohit Verma and were preparing to present a challan in court on Saturday when around 40 Karni Sena workers gathered, demanding that the accused be handed over to them. When tensions escalated, police used force to control the mob, arresting four people, including district president Sunil Rajput and Ashish Rajput. Sunday's larger protest was in response to these arrests. Harda Collector Siddharth Jain said police tried to convince the protesters to withdraw their blockade peacefully. "When they didn't listen, we used a water cannon. Then, tear gas was used and a lathicharge was necessary to disperse the crowd," said Jain. "The situation is tense but under control." Protesters allege that vehicles were damaged by a JCB machine, and many people were beaten inside the Rajput hostel, which has been converted into a temporary jail to hold detainees. The crackdown has sparked a political uproar. Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jeetu Patwari took to social media, saying: "Police brutality against Karni Sena and the Rajput community is condemnable. It has now become a crime to demand justice under Mohan Yadav's government!" He demanded the immediate suspension of the Harda Collector and SP, accusing them of excesses and targeting protesters. Local MLA Dr. RK Dogne, present at the Rajput hostel, echoed the criticism: "It feels like the British era has returned. Peaceful protesters are being beaten inside. Their vehicles are being smashed. This is unprecedented in Harda." The spark from Harda has now spread across other districts. In Dewas, Karni Sena workers blocked the Dewas-Bhopal highway. Police led by ASP Jaiveer Singh Bhadauria and ADM Bihari Singh attempted mediation but eventually used a lathi charge to reopen the road. In Ratlam's Sejawata area, protesters blocked a highway, raised slogans, and clashed with police before one lane was reopened. Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlot has urged citizens to maintain peace, assuring that ample police forces are in place and the situation is "under control."
