Indian stock market: Experts unveil this strategy as 90-day pause in Trump's tariff deadline approaches
Market experts believe that as the 90-day suspension of Trump-era tariffs comes to an end, Indian markets may encounter indirect challenges due to the uncertain global trade environment.
On Friday, the Sensex and Nifty 50, rebounded breaking a two-day losing streak. The Sensex gained 193 points, or 0.23%, to settle at 83,432.89, while the Nifty 50 advanced 56 points, or 0.22%, closing at 25,461.
"The Indian market is experiencing a pause as investors adopt a wait-and-watch strategy ahead of the impending US tariff deadline, with mixed global cues. Ongoing FII outflows reflect a risk-off approach, while DII inflows are offering partial support," Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments, observed.
Nitin Jain, Sr. Research Analyst at Bonanza says that a wise approach is to adopt a defensive position, concentrating on domestic-focused industries such as banking and FMCG which are less affected by global fluctuations.
'Sectors that rely on exports—especially IT and specialty chemicals—might experience short-term pressure if global demand declines amid tariff uncertainties. Investors should exercise caution regarding industries associated with global supply chains, such as metals and capital goods,' Jain said.
On the technical side, the index remains on solid footing and appears well-poised to approach new all-time highs in the coming months, according to Kunal Kamble, Sr. Technical Research Analyst at Bonanza.
'That said, the rally is unlikely to be one-way; phases of consolidation and profit booking are expected as part of a healthy trend. We maintain our target of 26,500–26,600 for Nifty in 2025, with any meaningful dip presenting a buying opportunity, in line with the broader positive structure,' Kamble said.

New Delhi: India and Trinidad and Tobago agreed to ramp up collaboration in healthcare, digital infrastructure and agriculture as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Trnidadian counterpart Kamla Persad-Bissessar focused on development cooperation as an important pillar in bilateral relations. Trinidad and Tobago was the second destination in Modi's five-nation tour, and people of Indian-origin make up more than 40% of the country's population of 1.36 million. During their talks late on Friday, the two leaders called for greater cooperation on contemporary challenges such as climate change, disaster management and cyber-security. Modi appreciated Trinidad and Tobago's strong support and solidarity in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. The two leaders agreed to work together for solidarity among the countries of the Global South and to strengthen India-CARICOM partnership, the external affairs ministry said. Modi and Bissessar also decided to build an inclusive and forward-looking partnership in healthcare, information and communication technology, trade, agriculture, legal affairs, skill development and sports, according to a joint statement. 'The two leaders acknowledged the common threat posed by terrorism to peace and security. They reiterated their strong condemnation of and resolute opposition to terrorism. They declared that there could be no justification for terrorism, including cross-border terrorism,' the joint statement said. Both sides emphasised the need for reforms in the UN and Trinidad and Tobago said it will support India's bid for permanent membership of an expanded Security Council. It was also agreed that India will support Trinidad and Tobago's candidature for a non-permanent seat in Security Council for 2027-28, while Trinidad and Tobago will support India's candidature for 2028-29. The two countries signed six agreements, including a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Indian pharmacopoeia that will allow closer collaboration in pharmaceuticals and provide improved access for Indian products to markets in Trinidad and Tobago. An agreement on Indian grant assistance for quick impact projects will strengthen the development cooperation partnership. The two sides also signed an agreement for cultural exchanges for 2025-2028, and three MoUs for cooperation in sports, diplomatic training, and re-establishment of two Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) chairs in Hindi and Indian studies at the University of West Indies. As part of efforts to expand cooperation in the digital domain, the two sides will explore collaboration in implementing Indian digital public infrastructure solutions, including DigiLocker. Trinidad and Tobago, the first Caribbean country to adopt India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) digital payments platform, sought support in digitization of the state land registration system. The Indian side announced a gift of 2,000 laptops to support Trinidad and Tobago's flagship educational programme, a gift of agro-machinery worth $1 million to bolster food security, and the donation of 20 haemodialysis units and two sea ambulances. Modi also announced a prosthetic limb camp for 800 individuals will be organised in Trinidad and Tobago. Earlier, while addressing the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago on Friday, Modi said India will work with its partners to give the Global South its 'rightful seat at the right table', create a fairer world order and ensure reforms of global bodies such as the UN. Modi, the first Indian premier to address a joint assembly of the Parliament of the Caribbean nation, described terrorism as the enemy of humanity and said India and Trinidad and Tobago must be united to deny terrorism any space. 'It is time for us to work together, to give the Global South its rightful seat at the right table. To ensure climate justice, so that the burden does not fall on those who have contributed the least to the climate crisis. We consider Trinidad and Tobago an important partner in this endeavour,' Modi said. Whenever Indian tanks enter enemy territory, QRSAMs will also move along. If enemy tries air attack on Indian tanks, they will be stopped by QRSAM. It is developed by DRDO and its missile and radars are developed by the indigenous company BEL. The vehicle on which QRSAM is set up is being made by BDL. This surface-to-air missile system, which is mounted on an 8×8 truck chassis with six launch tubes, has 30-km range. Capable of intercepting and engaging six targets simultaneously, QRSAM features electronic countermeasures to prevent jamming. Successful testing has proved its effectiveness against various aerial threats, which includes fighter jets, attack helicopters, and precision-guided munitions. Does India Have Other Vehicle-Based Air Defence Systems? The Indian armed forces have been using vehicle-based air defence systems which were purchased from Russia decades ago. These include Shilka, Tungushka, Strela-10M, Osa AK and Pechora. However, these will be replaced by indigenous QRSAM. The Pechora air defence system is deployable in both mobile and stationary forms. However, it is now outdated and is being replaced by the Akash system.

Foxconn Q2 Results: Chipmaker sees 16% jump in revenue on AI product demand, flags THESE risks going ahead
Foxconn Q2 results: Taiwan-based Foxconn or Hon Hai Precision Industry Co earned record revenue in the second quarter, driven by high demand for artificial intelligence products, while also warning about potential challenges from geopolitical issues and exchange rate fluctuations, reported news agency Reuters. The revenue of the world's largest contract electronics maker has surged 15.82% on a year-on-year basis to T$1.79 trillion, according to a company statement, cited by the agency. The company beat the T$1.7896 trillion LSEG SmartEstimate. Foxconn, Apple iPhones' largest assembler in the world and leading clients such as chipmaker Nvidia, stated that rising demand for AI-driven products has contributed to strong revenue growth for its cloud and networking products division. However, smart consumer electronics, including iPhones, reported 'flattish' year-on-year revenue growth impacted by exchange rates, the agency quoted the company. Foxconn's revenue for June jumped 10.09% year-on-year to T$540.237 billion, a record high for the month. Foxconn stated it expects growth this quarter compared to the previous three months and the same period last year, but also warned about possible risks to growth. "The impact of evolving global political and economic conditions and exchange rate changes will need continued close monitoring," Reuters quoted Foxconn. Notably, US President Donald Trump announced he had signed letters to 12 countries, detailing the tariffs they would face on exports to the US. These "take it or leave it" offers are scheduled to be sent out on Monday. Foxconn operates the world's largest iPhone manufacturing plant in Zhengzhou, China. The tech giant has not released numerical forecasts. It will report full second quarter earnings on August 14. Foxconn's shares surged 76% last year, significantly outpacing the Taiwan market's 28.5% increase. However, they have decreased by 12.5% so far this year, due to broader pressures on tech stocks amid Trump's trade policies, the report said. On Friday, Foxconn shares closed down 1.83% before the revenue data release, compared with a 0.73% fall of the benchmark index.
