MDMA smuggling case: efforts on to extradite Kannur man from Oman
According to the police, a look out notice will be issued against Naufal, a native of Kannur who currently resides in Oman. Steps have been initiated to extradite him from Oman, the police added.
Earlier, four persons – Surya, a native of Pathanamthitta, Muhammed Rafi, Ali Akbar and Shafeeq, all from Parappanangadi – were arrested.
The police said the gang allegedly lured Surya with the promise of money and commission for smuggling synthetic drugs into Kerala.
According to the police, Surya travelled to Oman on July 16 in search of a job but returned four days later with a bag containing the contraband, which was given to her by Naufal. The plan was to hand over the drugs to the men waiting outside Karipur airport, who would then escort her to Kozhikode railway station.
However, police personnel at Karipur grew suspicious about two vehicles parked outside the airport and intercepted them when Surya arrived. A search led to the seizure of 1 kg of MDMA inside candy wrappers, which had slipped past airport security checks.
The four were taken into custody by the police and interrogated at the airport. Based on Surya's statement, the police uncovered details of an international drug-trafficking network with Oman links.
The police are now trying to trace the origin of the drugs, the intended recipients in Kerala, and possible previous deliveries. Investigators confirmed that Naufal was the key mastermind of the operation and efforts are under way to get him extradited.

After 18-month delay, Nizamabad police finally arrest Telangana intelligence officer's son in 2024 drug case
Hyderabad: After facing sharp criticism for allegedly shielding a senior Telangana intelligence officer's son in a drug case, the Nizamabad police have finally arrested Rahul Teja, nearly 18 months after he was named in an NDPS case registered in January 2024. With this latest development, Teja is now officially accused in two separate drug-related cases, both under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Teja, who was previously marked as absconding in the 2024 Nizamabad case, was arrested a few days ago following a prison transit warrant obtained by Dichpally police. He was taken into custody from Cherlapally Central Jail, where he was lodged in connection with a separate drug case unearthed earlier this month, and was produced before a local court in Nizamabad, which formally recorded his arrest. Investigators later found that Teja had also been named as accused No. 3 in the Jan 2024 Nizamabad drug case, based on confessions from two arrested peddlers, D Vikram and Shaik Khaja Mohiddin Chisty, who were caught in possession of narcotics. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Despite being named in the FIR, no action was taken for over a year, fuelling speculation of deliberate inaction due to Teja's connection to a senior officer attached to the Special Intelligence Bureau. Nigerian peddler tracked As part of the ongoing probe, EAGLE officials recently arrested a Nigerian national, believed to be the current supplier of drugs to Surya and his network. According to investigators, he was sent to India to replace another Nigerian, identified as Nick, who had returned to Nigeria for a break. 'While returning, Nick handed over his phone to an associate in Delhi so that communication with Indian customers and sub-peddlers could continue seamlessly,' EAGLE sources told TOI. The Nigerian, currently in custody, is expected to be deported within the next couple of days. Bail pleas ruling likely today Meanwhile, at least four of the accused in the Kompally drug case, including Teja and Surya, have approached the Rangareddy criminal court seeking bail. Final arguments in their petitions were heard on Thursday, and the court is expected to pronounce its decision on Friday.

Tekashi 6ix9ine pleads guilty to drug possession, faces sentencing in September
The well-known rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose actual name is Daniel Hernandez and is of 29-years-old, has accused to be guilty to drug possession charges in violation of his supervised release. The plea was entered in a Manhattan federal court on July 23, 2025 which was a marking another legal setback for the artist following his earlier conviction on racketeering and conspiracy charges. Details of the raid and charges The charges started from a March 12 raid at Hernandez's Miami residence, where authorities reportedly found traces of cocaine and MDMA — the party drug known as Molly or ecstasy in a bedroom cabinet. Hernandez acknowledged the presence of the substances and accepted responsibility. In return for his guilty plea, the prosecutors agreed to drop two additional counts related to the incident. Sentencing and potential consequences U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer cautioned Hernandez that any further violations before sentencing could lead to severe consequences. While federal guidelines suggest a sentence ranging from three to nine months per count, the rapper could face up to five years in prison and lifetime supervised release depending on the court's final decision. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Sentencing is scheduled for September 25, 2025. Those infractions led to a 45-day federal custody sentence, with Judge Engelmayer criticizing Hernandez for showing disregard for the law. Background and prior convictions Tekashi 6ix9ine rose to fame in 2017 with his breakout single 'Gummo.' In 2018, he pleaded guilty to his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a violent New York-based gang.
