Top defence expos IDEX, Navdex open in Abu Dhabi

The International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (Navdex) 2025 officially opened today their largest and most advanced editions at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and organised by Adnec Group in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council, this year's edition features 1,565 defence and security companies from 65 countries, a 16% increase from the previous edition.
IDEX 2025 showcases the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and next-generation defence solutions, providing a platform for global collaboration and innovation. Navdex 2025, the region's premier maritime defence exhibition, will feature state-of-the-art naval technologies, live demonstrations, and a dedicated space for international warships at Adnec Marina.
As part of this year's expansion, Hall 14 debuts as a new addition to the exhibition, featuring the CBRNE Hub, a specialised platform dedicated to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives defence solutions. The hub will bring together military leaders, specialists, and 38 companies from 13 countries to discuss cutting-edge innovations in this critical field.
With an expanded exhibition space of 181,501 sq m, the 2025 edition also sees the participation of 41 national pavilions, with the UAE Pavilion as the largest, spanning 25,000 sq m. Additionally, more than 731 new exhibitors are making their debut, reflecting an 82% increase in first-time participants.
Beyond the exhibition floor, IDEX and Navdex 2025 will host a comprehensive conference programme, where defence ministers, policymakers, and industry experts will discuss emerging security threats, defence readiness, and the evolving role of space and cyber technologies.
IDEX and NAVDEX continue to serve as a global platform for fostering strategic partnerships, advancing defence industry growth, and reinforcing international security cooperation.

The new identity was announced during an official ceremony attended by His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy and His Excellency Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as several of Their Excellencies representing the government, the Central Bank of Bahrain, the bank's strategic partners, major clients, and the bank's Board of Directors and executive management team.

Sharjah Regulates Auction of Special Vehicle Plates

Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired the council meeting on Tuesday morning at the Ruler's Office, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council. The council issued a decision to regulate the auction sale of special vehicle number plates in the Emirate of Sharjah The meeting discussed several agenda topics focused on monitoring the performance of government departments and entities, and developing the legislative framework to enhance government work and achieve integration across sectors in service of the community. The council decided to conclude the first regular session of the twentieth annual term for municipal councils in the Emirate of Sharjah, with the session officially ending on Thursday, 8 Muharram 1447 AH, corresponding to July 3, 2025. During the period between sessions, the general committees of the municipal councils will continue handling their respective affairs. The council has also implemented a decision to regulate the auction sale of special vehicle number plates in the Emirate of Sharjah. This regulation relates to plates designated by the Sharjah Police General Command. Under this decision, the Sharjah Police will organise and supervise the auctions, establish conditions and regulations, specify plate numbers and category codes, contract with specialised companies, and manage any additional tasks assigned by the Executive Council. The decision stipulated that licensed investment funds registered with the Securities and Commodities Authority and listed in the investment funds register have the right to own and use real estate in the emirate in accordance with the regulations set forth in this decision, as follows: 1. Private investment funds that are fully owned by UAE citizens or GCC nationals, as well as public investment funds, have the right to own real estate in all areas of the emirate and to use real estate in projects approved for usufruct sale. 2. Private investment funds that include units owned by non-UAE citizens and non-GCC nationals have the right to own real estate in projects approved for sale to foreigners and to use real estate in projects approved for usufruct sale. The decision also includes legal articles concerning ownership and usufruct conditions, investment fund registry, powers of the Real Estate Registration Department, fees, data updates, suspension of fund transactions, and trading of private fund units. Bahrain and Russia Sign Customs Cooperation Agreement at International Economic Forum

Bahrain and Russia signed an administrative cooperation agreement on customs matters during the International Economic Forum held in St. Petersburg, Russia. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain's Customs Affairs, and Ms. Tatyana Merkusheva, Deputy Director General of the Federal Customs Service of Russia. Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Ahmed emphasized that the agreement represents a strategic step aligned with Bahrain Customs' 2024–2027 strategic plan. It reflects Bahrain's commitment to strengthening international customs partnerships and updating operational frameworks in line with global standards. The agreement focuses on enhancing cooperation between the customs authorities of both countries through the exchange of information and expertise related to goods and stakeholders. It aims to streamline customs procedures, support trade, facilitate the movement of goods, and strengthen border security—particularly in combating smuggling and responding to global supply chain challenges.
