
Elderly woman killed in horror collision at busy car park as gardai issue appeal
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at a car park on the Castle Villas street of Dalkey at approximately 4.30pm on Sunday (July 13).
The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 70s, was rushed from the scene by ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In a garda update, a spokesperson confirmed that the woman tragically passed away due to her injuries on Thursday.
An investigation into the collision is underway and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision that occurred at a car park on the Castle Villas street, Dalkey, Co. Dublin on Sunday 13th July 2025 at approximately 4:30pm.
"The collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was conveyed to St. Vincent's Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced deceased today, Friday 17th July 2025.
"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Anyone who was in the Castle Villas street area on Sunday 13th July 2025 between 4:15-4:45pm and who may have any information is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
"Likewise, anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available.
"Gardaí can be contacted at the Dún Laoghaire Garda Station 01 6665000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

Jury indicate they have one verdict in trial of garda accused of assaulting teen
The jury in the trial of a garda accused of assaulting a teenager in Temple Bar over four years ago have indicated that they have reached one verdict. Lorcan Murphy (32) of Pearse Street Garda Station has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault causing harm under section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997. Today the foreman of the jury indicated to Judge Pauline Codd that they have reached one verdict in relation to the case and wished to continue deliberations in relation to the second count. The foreman did not indicate the verdict to the court. The jury had been deliberating for just over four hours. Judge Codd suspended their deliberations for the day and told them to return in the morning to continue consideration of the verdict before them. Cork man who bit garda on the wrist while resisting arrest has sentencing adjourned
A member of An Garda Síochána was bitten on the wrist by a 32-year-old man being arrested in Glanmire, Cork, and on Wednesday, sentencing was put back for compensation and the possibility of restorative justice. Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned sentencing on the charge of assault causing harm, contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act until October 8 for a probation report to address the possibility of a community service order and restorative justice. Sergeant John Dineen outlined the background to the incident involving 32-year-old Robert McCann, of Meadowbrook, Riverstown, Glanmire, County Cork,. 'On March 17, Garda Allie Mullins O'Keeffe and Garda Eric Stafford were on mobile patrol in Riverstown, Glanmire when Robert McCann of Meadowbrook, was observed. 'He was in in the middle of the road and stumbling as he attempted to walk. On viewing gardaí, he gestured with his middle finger towards them and told Garda Mullins O'Keeffe to f*** off. 'Garda Mullins O'Keeffe exited the patrol vehicle and requested him to move to the footpath. As she approached him he attempted to run away. 'He was apprehended 100m down the road. He was arrested at 8.50pm for being intoxicated to such an extent that he was a danger to himself or others at School Terrace, Riverstown, and for threatening behaviour. 'In the course of effecting the arrest of Robert McCann, he resisted and bit Garda Eric Stafford on the wrist, breaking the skin. He was conveyed to Mayfield Garda Station,' Sgt Dineen said. The 32-year-old is charged with assault causing harm to Garda Stafford, obstruction, engaging in threatening behaviour and being drunk and a danger. The defendant is on continuing bail conditions, which include signing on three times a week at Mayfield Garda Station, residing at his home address, abstaining from intoxicants and keeping an 11pm to 7am curfew. Bail also included his own bond of €1,000, with a cash lodgement of €800, as well as an independent surety of €1,000, also with an €800 cash lodgement.

Irish tourists brutally attacked in Italy by gang of north African youths
Two Irish tourists are recovering after they suffered brutal attacks while on holiday in Italy. One of the men suffered a broken jaw in the attacks in the Sicilian city of Palermo, cops have revealed. Officers believe the pair were targeted in separate attacks in the same area and within a short time of each other They said they were attacked by a gang of north African youths late last week, although details have only now emerged. The men suffered their separate ordeals in the Vucciria area, close to the city port. Cops rushed to the scene after witnesses raised the alarm and found one Irish victim disoriented on the ground. Four hours later, they found the second victim in an alleyway a few hundred yards away.
