Foodies flock to 12-Plate Thai feast deal with fizz and 5-star stay

The five-star Crazy Bear Hotel, known for its bold interior design and upscale atmosphere, offers guests a unique experience when it comes to hospitality. Thanks to a new deal from Wowcher, guests can also enjoy a twelve-plate dining experience at the Beaconsfield hotel.
The Thai sharing menu has been curated to highlight a fusion of Asian flavours. Guests can choose between a classic or vegetarian selection, both featuring a carefully balanced array of dishes.
The deal also includes an overnight stay, a glass of Lanson Le Black Champagne and access to the bar and lounge areas. Saving up to 52% on a full price stay, the Wowcher Crazy Bear experience with meal is now £195 for two.

Food fans who have already tried the 12-plate sharing menu have left plenty of good reviews, with one delighted diner saying: "Amazing food! We had the 12 plate set menu and the food tasted amazing and there was so much that we couldn't eat it all! Highly recommend"
Another added: "Amazing food, service and a lovely restaurant. Highly recommend the 12 plate set menu."
While one guest noted that the food felt "overpriced for what is on offer," the Wowcher deal is good value, bringing the cost of a 12-plate dinner, champagne and a five-star stay to under £99 per person. Given that dinner alone is typically £50 per head, the package deal offers substantial savings.
The Thai dining experience is only available at The Crazy Bear Hotel in Beaconsfield. Opened in 2008 to spectacular international reviews including Conde Nast's Red Hot List for best new hotels in the world, the former fifteenth-century coaching inn has been transformed with individually styled rooms and bespoke furnishings.

With an outdoor swimming pool, an opulent bar and two restaurants, Crazy Bear Beaconsfield offers luxury and flamboyance in a traditional setting, less than 30 minutes by train from London Marylebone. Guests who aren't keen on the Thai menu can opt for a three-course English menu instead.
Outside of the Crazy Bear, many other fine dining establishments like to tempt diners with a tasting menu. A Five Course Tasting Menu for Two at Gordon Ramsay's Savoy Grill, for example, can be purchased for £260 from Buyagift.com. Serving up classic British and French dishes in elegant surroundings, the offer features dishes like Arnold Bennett soufflé with smoked haddock and cheddar cheese and Beef Wellington.
Other alternatives include a Italian Five Course Tasting Menu for Two at Piazza Italiana famous for its authentic menu from Virgin Experience Days, or a Eight Course Taster of African Cuisine with 32% off at Groupon. Both deals can be purchased in advance and booked when convenient.
For anyone looking for a five-star stay, buyagfit.com is offering a Two Night Country Hotel Stay for two from £199. Cheaper than the Crazy Bear experience, this deal does not include food.
Guests can also choose to stay at the original Crazy Bear in Stadhampton near Oxford which has been entertaining guests since its creation in 1993. Famous for its eclectic design and award-winning dining, the five-star hotel promises to offer guests 'an exclusive Thai dining experience.'

Visitors who have stayed at the Crazy Bear hotels, have left plenty of five-star reviews on the Tripadvisor.
One person who stayed at the Stadhampton location described it as "An absolute treat" adding "What a special treat for my husband and I. The best way we could ever think of to celebrate his 50th birthday. A stunning hotel and such quirky and beautiful grounds."
Another who enjoyed a stay at the Beaconsfield Bear was also impressed, saying "Stunning hotel. Wow! What a place to stay. Absolutely beautiful. The decor is off the scale."
Sadly not every visitor was quite so impressed. One guest who left a three star review that said: "The hotel is quite nice but not as nice as it thinks it is. Friendly staff. Rooms are kind of luxury depending on your taste but a bit too dark for my liking."
Overall, guests seem to be impressed with the food and the Crazy Bear experience. One five-star review summed it up saying: "Incredible getaway if looking for something luxurious with good food and wine."

I flew 4,600 miles to a Jamaican resort that offers more than just 'fly and flop
I had rather hoped to leave the dreary English weather at home when I'd travelled 4,600 miles from London to Jamaica. Instead, I found myself on a balcony, sheltering from the tropical storm that's gatecrashed my Caribbean escape. The downpour posed a question: what is there to do besides lounge around and sun yourself at an all-inclusive Jamaican resort? Holed up at Sandals Dunn's River, a sprawling hotel on the postcard-perfect northern coast, I was in Jamaica at an opportune moment. The tourism industry is enjoying an extraordinary surge, with visitor numbers soaring thanks to investment in sustainable initiatives that benefit both locals and visitors. From paddleboarding and pina coladas to chicken shacks and waterfalls, here's how I made the most of my trip — and how you can too, whatever the weather. Inclement weather be damned, the Caribbean coastline has plenty to keep you occupied, hail, rain or shine. Sandals Dunn's River offers a range of watersports, such as kayaking and paddleboarding, scuba diving and something called Hobie Cat sailing, which, from I gather, involves manning your own mini-catarmaran. For me, the highlight was paddleboarding, which offers a reverse-view of the palm tree-flanked sands. I can see why the location of the resort was hand-picked by Sandals' late founder, Gordon 'Butch' Stewart, for its pristine stretch of beach. He used to fish there as a boy. Daily boat trips (including glass-bottom ones) also run from the resort – typically twice a day, but these do depend on the weather. If dry land is more your bag, Sandals has teamed up with Island Routes, a travel company that offers a whole host of experiences across the island. They'll hook you up with a Mini Cooper that serves as a valiant steed for a four-wheel adventure. I was relieved to learn that Jamaicans drive on the left, but I needn't have worried. A guide has got you covered: you convoy behind the car in front, with the history of the area delivered via a walkie-talkie in your ride. I recommend cruising from Ocho Rios to Falmouth along the north coast, making scenic pit stops at places such as Turtle Bay Pier and Reynolds Pier (often referred to as James Bond Pier) along the way. You can choose either a half or full-day tour, depending on how much driving you want to do. Every Jamaica first-timer should stop by Dunn's River Falls, which is something of a national treasure. The falls empty into the sea at Little Dunn's River Beach, making the attraction one of the few travertine waterfalls in the entire world. It's one of the stops on the Island Routes excursion, but standalone tours are also available daily. Getting to the good stuff is easier said than done. You'll be scaling a 180-foot high waterfall, made up of three levels and lagoons, while rapids crash down towards you. In total, the climb takes around an hour, depending on the ages and mobility of the group. Our guide warned us that 'you will get wet' — he wasn't wrong. One thing is certain, you won't go hungry at Sandals Dunn's River. With 12 restaurants to choose from – covering Italian, French, Latin American, Asian Fusion and more – you're spoiled for choice. However, no trip to Jamaica is complete without trying out the local cuisine. More Trending I beelined for the hotel's beachfront Jerk Shack most days. With crashing waves in the background and a tropical breeze flowing through salty hair, friendly waiters serve up classic jerk chicken and pork as well as curry goat, and traditional fish in foil (white fish cooked with okra, pepper and chilli), a new favourite of mine. If you prefer to explore outside the hotel walls, Miss T Kitchen's in the centre of Ocho Rios – a 10-minute drive away – comes highly recommended. On two visits, I tucked into a feast of Stamp and Go (traditional saltfish fritters) followed by melt-in-the-mouth Oxtail stew, classic curried goat, and rice and peas, all washed down with pina colada and rum punch. It's comfort food at its best, the type that leaves you full and feeling good. If you want a week relaxing and nothing else, we're not here to judge. This hotel has plenty to ensure your stay is as luxurious and care-free as possible. Skypool rooms I've never had a pool in my hotel room before. The Butler Suite, located in the Tufa Terrace building, really is a showstopper of a space and comes with its own Skypool built into the balcony. You can spend sunset gazing out to the ocean from the privacy of your pool. The spa The Red Lane Spa offers Caribbean-inspired treatments with local products and tailor-made services, including massages, facials and body treatments. Butler service As a concept, this can feel bizarre and a little uncomfortable. But every Skypool suite comes with a dedicated butler who is available to you throughout your stay. They're just a text or a call away through a phone provided. A top tip would be to use your butler to reserve your sunbeds around the pool or beach in the mornings. You'll also need to reserve certain restaurants at the resort, which can be done through your butler. A gym with a view Lying around at the pool all day can make you feel like you need to work up an appetite for dinner. I can honestly say the resort's gym blew me away. It beats the concrete view I get on the treadmill at my North London PureGym, any day. A seven-night stay for two adults at Sandals Dunn's River, Jamaica, staying in a Travertine Luxury Room costs from £2,059 per adult. Beaumaris in Wales took the tenth spot on an expert list of discovered destinations in Europe, thanks to its long pier, pretty beach and there's even a nearby island which is home to colonies of puffins. The town is said to be ideal for "the explorer who's enchanted by rugged shorelines, medieval castles, and boat trips to wild islands". Beaumaris is a seaside town on the Isle of Anglesey, packed with charming pubs, cafes and beaches. Those looking for a more cultural break are also in luck, as it has a stunning castle dating back to the 13th century. It's known as the greatest ever built because it was the last of the royal strongholds created by Edward I in Wales – and perhaps his masterpiece. The castle is surrounded by a moat and has spellbinding views over Snowdonia, and tickets to look around it and the grounds are just £10.50 per adult. Beaumaris has a beach for those keen to get some steps in, but its not advisable for swimmers as it's near the Menai Straits - known for strong tidal currents. One visitor raved about the town on Tripadvisor: "Just beautiful! Love this place and would definitely recommend a visit for a relaxed atmosphere with stunning views." Near the beach is Beaumaris Pier, which originally opened in 1846 and rebuilt in 1872. These days it's a popular spot for crabbing and has a small kiosk near the entrance where you can nab an ice-cream or hot drink, plus souvenirs and beach toys. From Beaumaris you can easily get to Puffin Island, an uninhabited area off the eastern tip of Anglesey, on one of the regular boat trips or cruises. It's a wildlife hub for Atlantic grey seals as well as puffins - and if you're lucky you might also get a glimpse of porpoises and dolphins in the surrounding waters. Although most definitely a hidden gem, Beaumaris also has the backing of Which? - which put it high on a list of the best seaside towns in the UK last year. The Welsh town came in 25th place with a reader vote of 74 per cent. Plus, the seaside destination with famous Hollywood locals that was named one of the best places to live in the UK. Expert names vital holiday items Brits always pack wrong when going abroad
Markus Lindblad sheds light on common travel mistakes that cause delays and trouble from Brits at airport security - advising what items are permissible and which should be left at home You may consider yourself well-versed in baggage restrictions, but many Brits still make avoidable packing mistakes. These small but glaring mistakes can lead to longer airport security queues and - at worst - can lead would-be travellers from flying altogether. Markus Lindblad from the tobacco-free nicotine product company, Northerner, has broken down the most common packing mistakes Brits are making in 2025 - including how they travel with vapes. Knowing these rules before you travel might save you time and trouble on your next journey. Travelling with vapes Markus' first flag is about carrying vapes on aeroplanes. While you are permitted to carry vapes onto a plane, they must be stored in your carry-on luggage, not your checked baggage. Additionally, passengers are not permitted to use the vape while on an aeroplane. Vaping or smoking on a flight is illegal and could see you facing hefty fines and flight restrictions. Some fines can even reach up to £5000. For those likely to crave nicotine mid-flight, Markus recommends carrying nicotine pouches. They are allowed both in carry-on and checked luggage and can be used safely on planes. Nicotine pouches are regulated in some countries however, so always make sure you dispose of them when you land if you're unsure of the local laws. Bringing disposable vapes back into the UK is a slightly different story. While the sale of disposable vapes is banned in the UK, they are still perfectly legal in many countries, so Brits can purchase these devices while abroad. Entering the UK with a disposable vape is only an offence if you intend to sell it, so as long as it's for personal use, then you're not breaking any laws according to Markus. If you're not returning to the UK and carrying disposable vapes elsewhere, check the banned items list for each country before re-packing your luggage, as some other countries have banned vapes. Travelling with portable chargers A global shift across worldwide airlines has seen rules tightened over the carrying of power banks onto flights. Early in 2025, an incident that left three people injured on a major Asian airline led to a crackdown of portable power banks in checked baggage. After an Air Busan plane caught fire at Gimhae International Airport on January 28, the airline announced it would be enforcing stricter regulations around power banks. According to Markus, the lithium-ion batteries commonly found inside power banks pose a fire risk to aircraft and confined cabin spaces if damaged. Most airlines allow portable chargers packed in your carry-on luggage, but not in checked luggage. Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways also prohibit the use of power banks to charge personal devices during a flight. Check the specific guidelines surrounding power banks before packing. 100ml liquid limit While some UK airports including Gatwick, Birmingham and Newcastle no longer require passengers to remove liquids at security, the 100ml limit still applies. That said, medications and baby food are exempt from this 100ml restriction. UK restrictions v foreign restrictions Different countries may have completely different travel rules, which affects how you should pack. For example, Dubai has introduced new rules on medication, only allowing items in checked baggage. Whereas Mexico has a total ban on vapes, making packing them in your luggage illegal. While the UK rules may be different, you do not want to get into trouble when you arrive at your holiday destination. Speak to a staff member at the airport check-in desk and seek their advice on what is and is not permissible.
