Kindle Scribe is on sale for $529 — write, read and think better with Amazon's smartest e-reader

7NEWSa day ago
Amazon has introduced the latest evolution in digital reading and productivity with its Kindle Scribe (64 GB), a device that transforms the way readers engage with books, documents, and their own ideas.
Now available with an upgraded Premium Pen included, the Kindle Scribe combines the immersive reading experience of Kindle with the flexibility of a digital notebook, making it one of the most versatile e-readers Amazon has released to date.
Usually $729, it's currently on sale for more than 20 per cent off at $529 for a limited time only.
Featuring a 10.2-inch glare-free, 300 ppi front-lit display, redesigned with a flush-front screen and uniform white borders for an enhanced visual experience.
The display mimics the look and feel of real paper, making both reading and writing feel natural, whether under the sun or curled up in low light.
More than just a reading device, the Kindle Scribe is a powerful tool for personal and professional productivity.
Users can now write directly on the pages of books using Amazon's new Active Canvas technology.
This allows for instant annotations and expandable margins, giving space for thoughts and reflections without interrupting the flow of the original text.
When not jotting down book notes, users can switch to the built-in notebook feature to sketch out meeting notes, daily to-do lists, or keep a personal journal; all stored securely in one place.
What's great about this updated version is that users can convert handwritten notes to text, summarise them, and even adjust tone or length which is ideal for students, professionals, or anyone looking to refine their written thoughts.
Notes can also be emailed directly from the device, simplifying workflows and eliminating the need for multiple apps or devices.
With a strong focus on a distraction-free experience, the Kindle Scribe intentionally avoids notifications and social media integrations, providing a clean and focused environment for reading and thinking.
Shoppers have given the Kindle Scribe a 4-star rating on Amazon Australia's website.
'I am loving it and using it so much,' one impressed shopper wrote.
'This is by far the best Kindle I've had,' a second shopper added.
'This is exactly what I've been looking for,' a third reviewer commented.

Aussie Amazon workers lagging behind in re-training as tech giant continues global automation rollout

Staff at Amazon Australia are not a priority for the massive upskilling happening across the e-commerce behemoth's global network. At a conference this week in Japan, Amazon announced its one millionth warehouse robot was now in use across the planet. The company says globally, 700,000 Amazon workers have been formally 'upskilled' to keep up with this wave of automation - but Australians account for a tiny fraction of these workers. Only one of Amazon Australia's eight 'fulfilment centre' warehouses have the company's patented product-shifting, AI-operated robots; as Amazon accelerates its AI and robotics goals, the company argues relatively few job losses will result, contending people doing repetitive manual tasks will be retrained and 'upskilled'. Compared to Amazon's warehouses in comparable countries, Australian facilities are a step behind the company's newest technology, meaning retraining Australian workers to fix and maintain Amazon's robots is lagging. Information from Amazon says the company has created 700 new categories of jobs globally since introducing robots. A proposed highly-robotised Melbourne warehouse will create more than 2000 jobs, requiring entry-level workers up to engineers and operations managers. 'Australia is one of our last countries to have launched … we're in the process of scaling-up the program.' *Amazon paid for NewsWire's travel and accommodation in Japan

I tried the NARWAL Freo Z10 Robot Vacuum and Mop, and it changed how I clean my home forever

If you want a cleaner home without the hassle of having to do it yourself, then I have the ultimate solution for you. I recently received the new incredible NARWAL Freo Z10 Robot Vacuum and Mop and it has not only given me a spotless home, I suddenly have extra time to do the things I actually enjoy instead of cleaning the house. NARWAL's Freo Z10 features a DualFlow Tangle-Free System, which addresses one of the most persistent challenges in robotic vacuum maintenance — hair entanglement. This innovative robot vacuum and mop currently retails for $2399 on Amazon Australia. This system uses dynamically moving side brushes that agitate and loosen hair, which is then transferred to the roller brush. A powerful 15,000Pa suction system effortlessly draws the debris into the dustbin. This design is especially beneficial for pet owners or those with long hair, reducing the need for frequent manual brush cleaning. Beyond hair management, the Freo Z10 excels at cleaning hard-to-reach areas. Its mop head is engineered with the ability to extend and swing dynamically, allowing it to reach tight corners and under cabinets. It applies up to 8N of downward pressure, ensuring it scrubs away stuck-on grime and dirt that typical robot cleaners might miss. What I also love about my new robot vacuum and mop is how easy it is to set up. I am not a technical person, and it was honestly a breeze to use. What sets the Freo Z10 apart from many of its competitors is its self-maintaining base station. This base goes beyond simple charging. The machine cleans the mop heads using adaptive hot water, self-dries them to prevent mould or odour, and even self-cleans internally. With the capacity to store dust for up to 120 days, the system eliminates the constant need to empty dustbins or wash mops manually, delivering a truly autonomous cleaning performance. The robot's 15,000Pa hyper suction is coupled with a smart particle sensor that continuously adjusts suction power based on the detected level of dirt. This ensures the Freo Z10 responds in real time to varying floor conditions, removing up to 99 per cent of debris. The mopping function is equally advanced, using dual spinning and scrubbing mops to tackle dried spills such as jam, coffee, or ketchup. After the initial pass, a dirt sensor evaluates the cleanliness and prompts re-mopping in areas that remain dirty, ensuring a consistently spotless result. Navigation and obstacle avoidance are managed through highly accurate front and side sensors. These sensors detect and navigate around obstacles with millimetre precision, enabling the Freo Z10 to clean right to the edges without bumping into furniture or getting stuck. It integrates smoothly into smart home systems and responds to voice commands through Alexa, Siri, and Google Home. However, it's worth noting that the device supports only 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, not the faster 5GHz frequency. The NARWAL Freo Z10 is not just another robotic vacuum — it is a comprehensive cleaning system that saves you time and stress. Perfect for those who expect the highest level of convenience and performance.
