‘The most difficult decision I have made' – Heung-min Son says he wants to leave Tottenham this summer

Heung-min Son says he wants to leave Tottenham this summer after ten years at the club. The South Korea international joined Spurs in 2015 and would go on to become the club's fourth record goalscorer and fifth record appearance holder. And after captaining the club to the Europa League trophy last season, he says he now wants to play in a different environment. 'It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career,' he said. 'I have spent 10 years at Tottenham. The main reason is I have achieved everything I can at Tottenham. I need a new environment for a fresh challenge. I'm grateful the club have respected my decision and wish Spurs well for the next season. 'It's a beautiful club with beautiful fans. I have such amazing memories. It was so hard to make the decision. I just felt like I needed a new environment to push myself to get more out of me I think I needed a little bit of change. 10 years is a long time. 'I came to north London as a kid. 23 years old, a very young age. A boy who couldn't speak English. I leave this club as a grown man. 'Thank you to all the Spurs fans who have given me so much love. It felt like it was my home. It was one of the toughest decisions I ever made. I think it is the right time to leave. I hope that everyone understands that and respects that.' On the reaction from his Spurs team-mates to the news, he said: 'I spoke with only a few guys, ones I've spent a long time with. 'Obviously they're disappointed, as a friendship or as a team-mate you'd be very disappointed if someone decided to leave, but in a respectful way. 'Obviously I'm very close with Ben (Davies) so we've spoken about the future a lot of times. 'Obviously he fully respects my decision. So does everyone. What can I say? It's very, very hard to tell my team-mates because I sometimes probably spend more time with them than my family because we're travelling together, spending time together every single day at the training ground, five or six hours every day. I think we know each other so well. 'Everybody was disappointed but also in a way very happy for me. That was my feeling but I don't what they were actually feeling. They seemed happy but disappointed when I told them my decision.'

'Celtic interested in Liverpool's Chiesa'

Atalanta, Celtic and Fulham are interested in signing Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa on loan, with the 27-year-old knowing he cannot be guaranteed regular football at Anfield this season. (Sports Boom) Rangers are ready to end the experiment of using Max Aarons at left-back and have contacted Kassoum Ouattara's camp about a transfer from Monaco, but the 20-year-old is also on the radar of Celtic, Augsburg, Toulouse, PSV Eindhoven and Metz. (Sebastien Vidal on X) Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers remains undecided on signing a new left-back as he believes Japanese 23-year-old Hayato Inamura has done well despite initially being slated for a loan move after being acquired from Albirex Niigata for a modest £250,000 last month. (Glasgow Times) Manchester City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has arrived in Glasgow as the 19-year-old finalises a season-long loan to Celtic. (Sky Sports) Rapid Vienna are putting pressure on Celtic to green-light a move for 23-year-old Marco Tilio before they move on to other targets, with the Scottish champions stalling on the move until they sign a winger replacement after the clubs agreed a £350,000 loan deal, with an obligation to buy for £1.3m. (Sky Sports) AC Milan striker Marko Lazetic is keen on a move to Aberdeen, with personal terms not expected to be an issue, but negotiations continue between the clubs over the 21-year-old. (Sky Sports) Celtic right-back Ben McPherson, 21, is on the verge of joining Partick Thistle on loan. (Daily Record) Read Saturday's Scottish Gossip in full.

Liverpool's momentous Adidas kit deal is worth even MORE than we first thought

Liverpool have FINALLY unveiled their new Adidas kit deal. Arne Slot's side have been playing through the current preseason campaign in their 2024/25 Nike kits. The Reds have taken part in matches against Preston, Stoke, AC Milan and Yokohama F. Marinos in last season's kits but will be wearing Adidas when they play Athletic Club on Monday. Adidas finally take over from Nike The Adidas deal did not kick in until August 1 - with the start of Nike's five-year contract delayed back in 2020. Owing to the three-month suspension of football, Nike's deal was put back until after the season finished in July 2020. 🔴 The players have also been pictured wearing Nike training wear and apparel during the Asian tour - while the likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong have been using temporary numbers. Things now look a little more settled - with Wirtz being given the legendary Liverpool No7 shirt and featuring prominently in the Adidas announcements. Adidas paying MORE than £60m reported The Reds were paid roughly £30m per year - minimum - throughout the lifecycle of their Nike deal. That figure was lifted by a reported 20 percent royalty payment on replica kits - which pushed the overall sums on offer to around £60m. However, Adidas will be providing the club with significantly MORE money - with the deal set to run for an unprecedented 10-year duration. According to various reports, the exact terms of the deal will remain confidential. There are bonuses on offer - depending on team performances and unit shifted - but Liverpool will be earning a LOT more than the £60m per annum from Adidas that has previously been reported. © LFC
