Minecraft introduce new mob Copper Golem from a past fan vote

BBC News2 days ago
"It feels really good that the copper golem is making a comeback," said Mojang's Game Directer Agnes Larsson."When we look at the visions for future game drops, we always revisit old ideas as well to find the best ideas for the right drop".Mojang say that players who have the Bedrock version of Minecraft, are able to test out the new features now in beta and preview mode, but Java players will have to wait a little longer.
What is the copper golem mob?
The copper golem is a mob that helps players to tidy and sort out their inventory. It doesn't spawn on its own in the world, but is instead summoned by players by placing a carved pumpkin on a copper block. This will then create a golem and a copper chest, which is a special item.Copper golems can open copper chests, pick up as many items as they can carry and then take them to other normal chests in a player's base. The copper golem and chest can also be different colours, based on how oxidised the copper is that players use to summon them.Oxidisation is a chemical reaction that happens when copper reacts to water and air over a long time, changing it's colour from orange to green - and this also happens to the copper blocks in the game.Senior Gameplay engineer Matthew Clohessy, said: "The copper golem was a fan favourite, and one beloved in the development team as well, and we wanted to bring it back with a bit more of an engaging mechanic, and also because it's just a cute little thing!"
New copper weapons, tools and armour
Copper is also officially becoming an equipment tier in the game. "We haven't added a new tool and armour tier since the Nether update, so this is a really big and exciting thing" said Senior Gameplay Engineer Eric Grimsborn.Copper would sit between Stone and Iron in terms of it's strength, speed and how tough it is.For example, a copper pickaxe would help players to mine a bit faster and for a bit longer than a stone pickaxe, but won't allow players to mine any extra materials – like an iron upgrade would. Game Director Agnes Larsson said: "It's easier for players to find copper than iron. So for players early in the player journey, we think it will be really helpful that we add this tier of copper tools between stone and iron"What do you think of the new update? Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne's final gig – follow it live!

Update: Date: 2025-07-05T13:41:30.000Z Title: Content: Today's livestream is on a two-hour delay, so us at home will experience everything later than Michael does in the stadium. Here's the timings for how it will go down there, as leaked by Disturbed frontman David Draiman yesterday – all times BST. Mastodon – 1.30-1.45 pm Rival Sons – 1.52-2.07 pm Anthrax – 2.15-2.29 pm Halestorm – 2.37pm [not sure why this doesn't have an end time, but am assuming 2.53pm] Lamb of God – 3.00-3.15 pm Supergroup A – 3.25-4.00pm Alice in Chains – 4.07-4.22 pm Gojira – 4.29-4.44pm Drum-off – 4.51-5.01pm Supergroup B – 5.08-5.48pm Pantera – 5.55-6.10pm Tool – 6.17-6.37pm Slayer – 6.44-7.12pm Guns 'N Roses – 7.21-7.46pm Metallica – 7.53-8.23pm Ozzy Osbourne – 8.38-8.58pm Black Sabbath – 9.13-9.48pm Someone with a head mic and clipboard is going to be stressed keep that all on track. And I suppose that's just the one Tool song, then. Update: Date: 2025-07-05T13:33:36.000Z Title: Welcome to Back to the Beginning! Content: You wait ages for the reunion of a much-loved, era-defining British rock band and then two come along at once. After last night's return of Oasis, now we have Black Sabbath, ultra-poignantly getting back together to give the big man up front the send off he deserves. Ozzy Osbourne's touring career had petered out in a frustrating series of knocks – illness, Covid-cancelled tours, more illness – and it looked like he might have been forced into retirement with unfinished business. But thanks to the sterling efforts of wife Sharon Osbourne, musical director Tom Morello and an eye-popping network of greats, we're about to have what could reasonably be described as the biggest event in heavy metal history. I'll be following along with the livestream at home which starts at 3pm, while Michael Hann is in Villa Park itself and will be sending back his observations plus a big review at the end of the night.

Alisson explains his absence from Diogo Jota's funeral as he posts emotional message following tragic death of his Liverpool team-mate

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has explained why he was unable to attend the funeral of Diogo Jota, who died alongside his brother Andre Silva in a car crash in Spain earlier this week. Alisson, who has been team-mates with Jota at Liverpool since 2020, posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, revealing that he was separated by an ocean from 'saying goodbye' to someone he loved. 'Usually, I post things that make sense, but today, nothing makes sense! Once again, an ocean separates me from "saying goodbye" to someone I love! But I know that I am well represented by my club mates!' Alisson wrote, alongside a black and white photo of himself, his wife Natalia, Jota, Jota's partner Rute and their children together. 'To you, my friend @rutecfcardoso14, just know that you will never walk alone, we will be with you as soon as possible!' Alisson described Jota — whose death came less than two weeks after he and Rute were married — as a 'great friend, father and husband' and added: 'In a moment like this, all we can do is bow down before the Sovereignty of God, and receive grace and help in this time.' He concluded his message by quoting the Bible passage Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, which speaks of there being a time for every purpose under heaven, including 'a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to weep, and a time to laugh.' Alisson could not make it to Jota's funeral but many other Liverpool stars past and present did While Alisson could not be there in person, many of Jota's Liverpool team-mates past and present attended the funeral service in Gondomar, Portugal, on Saturday. Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Joe Gomez were among those who paid their respects, with Van Dijk and Robertson seen carrying floral tributes into the church. Liverpool manager Arne Slot and several Portuguese internationals, including Bruno Fernandes, Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves, also attended, joining hundreds of mourners who lined the streets to honour Jota, who scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for Liverpool and won the Premier League title with the club last season. Jota was only 28 when he died. His brother was 25.
