Taking to her X handle, Meera Chopra accused Diljit of not respecting his own country and tagged him as an 'anti-national' entity.
She wrote - 'Nothing was ever fine between India and Pakistan and specially after #phulwama #uri for #DiljitDosanjh to cast and work with a pakistani actor #HaniaAamir. These people can't respect their own country, their own people and their own soldiers fighting on the border. This drama needs to get over! Stop making them our heroes!'

Sardaar Ji 3 controversy
Following the terror attack in Pahalgam earlier this year, the Indian authorities called for a strict ban on Pakistani artists and content. Film bodies like the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed their disapproval of the movie. They even demanded a ban on Diljit and his future projects in India.
Diljit Dosanjh breaks silence on Hania Aamir's casting
While speaking to BBC Asian Network, Diljit Dosanjh shared that when they made the movie in February, the situation was fine. And later, when things changed, the producers decided not to release the film in India.
He added, 'Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi. Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them."
