Hyatt's Brand Footprint in Africa Set for 50% Rooms Growth by End of 2030

Hospitality Net27-05-2025
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Hyatt (www.Hyatt.com) announced that Hyatt expects around 50% rooms growth across new and existing markets in Africa by the end of 2030.
In the past two years, Hyatt saw 51% rooms growth in Africa, fueled by the addition of several milestone properties and first-time brand entries. These included Park Hyatt Marrakech, introducing the luxury brand to Morocco; Hyatt Centric Cairo West, the brand's debut on the continent; Hyatt Regency Harare – The Meikles, Hyatt's first hotel in Zimbabwe; and Hyatt Regency Nairobi Westlands, its first hotel in Kenya.
Most recently, in March 2025, Hyatt Place Nairobi Westlands and Hyatt House Nairobi Westlands opened along Lower Kabete Road. This marks Hyatt's first dual-branded development in Africa, offering guests two distinct stay experiences under one roof, just minutes from Westgate Mall, the Nairobi National Museum, and Karura Forest.
Last year marked a breakthrough year for Hyatt in Africa, and we're just getting started. Our growth across key leisure and business hubs reflects a strategic focus on having hotels where our guests and World of Hyatt members want to travel most. As we expand, we remain committed to delivering high-quality hospitality experiences that resonate with both global travelers and local communities. Stephen Ansell, Managing Director, Hyatt, Middle East and Africa
In the next two years, Hyatt hotels are set to debut in new markets within the region, including the anticipated opening of Hyatt Regency Lagos Ikeja in Nigeria. Additionally, the launch of Park Hyatt Johannesburg is set for later this year, following an extensive renovation of The Winston Hotel. The luxury property will include 31 guestrooms and is expected to be popular with business and leisure guests alike, offering understated luxury and an elevated home away from home experience with highly personalized, intuitive, and fully engaged service.
This is an exciting chapter in the growth of Hyatt's portfolio across Africa, as we add hotels with intent in high-demand destinations. We are proud to collaborate with our trusted owners to thoughtfully introduce Hyatt's diverse brands to both new and established markets across the region. Felicity Black-Roberts, Senior Vice President Development, Hyatt, EAME
The upcoming properties are expected to join the Hyatt brand portfolio in Africa, with Hyatt hotels currently present in South Africa, Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Egypt. Some of the Hyatt branded hotels in the region include:

Cultural Experiences Fuel Business Travel, Says Hyatt

LONDON - Hyatt saw more than 147,000 meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) enquiries in Europe in 2024, an increase of 9.6% compared to 2023, driven by a growing demand for authentic cultural experiences embedded into business trips. Hyatt's UK properties accounted for more than 25,000 of these enquiries, amounting to a 22% growth year on year. The UK market saw the highest number of MICE enquiries throughout the entirety of Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME), reflecting the popularity of Hyatt's UK portfolio amongst business travellers. This comes as global business travel spending is projected to reach $1.64 trillion in 2025, up from $1.48 trillion in 2024, according to the Global Business Travel Association, signifying strong momentum for the continued recovery and growth of the segment. With global spending expected to surpass $2 trillion by 2028, the ways in which travel companies are agile in responding to evolving customer demands is critical.1 We are increasingly seeing business travellers look to make the most of trips by bolting on days to experience local surroundings. While business travel is well and truly back, there remains an undertone of cautious spending from travellers and companies, meaning this segment is more than ever about getting the highest return on investment from business trips. This also means that companies are laser focused on delivering high quality and engaging events that inspire productivity, requiring greater attention on unique and personalised settings, activities and F&B. Paul Dalgleish, VP Sales, Revenue and Business Development EAME Dialling-up downtime with Together by Hyatt Behind this growth lies Hyatt's world-renowned hotel brands and a strong, long-standing reputation in the corporate travel segment, which alongside its meetings and events platform, Together by Hyatt, allow for the delivery of best-in-class meetings and events. Together by Hyatt guides the way Hyatt properties create experiences and deliver more connected meetings and events, with organisers and guests at its heart. The platform provides event organisers with the tools, resources and support they need to deliver unique and elevated events, prioritising what matters most to them, whether that's wellbeing with waste reduction and thoughtfully sourced food, providing efficiencies through a real time planner portal, or curating unique experiences with bespoke event experience guides. Shaping this growing demand is appetite for unique experiences that bring business travellers closer to the destination, whether that's through food, team building, or learning a new skill. From harvesting honey while learning about the environmental benefits of beekeeping in Jabal Akhdar during a stay at Alila Jabal Akhdar, to truffle hunting in the forests of Hungary while staying at Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest, or even unwinding with a yoga experience during a stay at Hôtel du Palais Biarritz - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, the opportunities to dial-up events via unique experiences are endless when partnering with Together by Hyatt. Business travellers are particularly drawn to authentic lifestyle experiences. We are seeing strong demand for meaningful connections with local surroundings, whether that's through tasting local food, learning a new skill like beekeeping or exploring surrounding heritage. We only see this trend growing as demand for business travel continues on its upwards path, and travellers seek out the types of experiences that transform a business trip into a truly memorable experience. This is why we have ensured that across our brand bar, travellers are spoilt for choice when it comes to elevating any business trip, from Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency in our Classics collection, to Lifestyle brands like Andaz and The Standard. Gareth Cummings, Regional Vice President EAME, Hyatt Sales Force Bespoke buyouts in stunning locations Pivotal to the evolving corporate travel sector is the growing appetite from larger corporates to privatise entire hotels for MICE purposes. Whether guests are delivering energised sessions in a conference room, practicing meditation under the stars or strengthening connections over an authentic dish, corporates are increasingly recognising the benefits of an exclusive buyout that enables any meeting, conference or event to be elevated. Hyatt is responding to this demand, alongside the desire for increased return on investment from events, by offering greater flexibility for customers to deliver tailored, exclusive events with a full or partial buyout at a Hyatt hotel across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The stunning properties companies can enjoy an exclusive buyout at across Europe, Africa and the Middle East include: Alila Hinu Bay Grand Hyatt Al Khobar Hotel and Residences Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas Grand Hyatt Dubai Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Andaz Prague Andaz Vienna am Belvedere Hôtel du Palais Biarritz Hyatt Centric Malta Hyatt Regency Amsterdam Park Hyatt London River Thames Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort La Zambra Resort Magma Santorini Secrets Lanzarote Resort and Spa Zoëtry Mallorca The term 'Hyatt' is used in this release for convenience to refer to Hyatt Hotels Corporation and/or one or more of its affiliates. Hyatt Regency Austin Embarks on a Property-Wide Transformation

Hyatt Regency Austin, the full-service hotel located in the heart of downtown Austin, has embarked on a full-hotel renovation of the property, with completion expected in September 2025. The hotel remains open during the refresh, with the reimagined spaces reopening in phases. Nestled on the shores of Lady Bird Lake, the property renovation includes a comprehensive redesign of the hotel's 448 guestrooms and suites, corridors, meeting facilities, and public spaces throughout the property. The refresh will also include the addition of two guestrooms, with one being a luxurious suite with a balcony displaying views of Lady Bird Lake and the Austin skyline. A rebrand of dining venues will introduce a new signature restaurant, Ripple & Roots, containing a lounge with an indoor-outdoor bar experience and a patio on Lady Bird Lake, and the new Juniper Breeze Market. At the onset of the transformation process, Hyatt Regency Austin reopened a newly remodeled outdoor pool and cabanas, which will remain accessible throughout the renovation. Lobby and Corridors Anchored by the hotel's soaring atrium, the revitalized lobby will welcome guests with new reception pods, set against a bold installation that juxtaposes the wild beauty of Austin's landscapes with the striking silhouettes of its urban skyline. Crafted out of perforated powder-coated bronze metal and backlit with a light-changing LED, the visual display will epitomize the unique blend of city vibrancy and tranquil nature represented throughout the hotel. Expanded seating will allow for guests to relax in the lobby, where a glass terrarium of sculptural cactus adds an element of serenity. The monochromatic redesign of the guestroom corridors will offer seamless connectivity to each other and the public spaces below, with each door entrance linked by subtle line drawings and connected through carpeting with contrasting geometric patterns. Panels showcasing Austin's natural world and musical identity will line the walls, depicting the beauty of bluebonnets and wildflowers intertwined with the rhythmic motion of hands playing instruments. Accommodations Hyatt Regency Austin will unveil elegantly transformed rooms that reflect the city's artistic vibes and natural elements through modern design. The refreshed design embraces an intuitive, uncluttered aesthetic defined by warm beige neutrals and organic textures, enriched with dark patina metals and warm-toned quartz. Each guest room will offer a sense of openness heightened by a completely new lighting scheme, creating a spacious and inviting atmosphere. New headboard walls will feature the same layered composition as the corridor panels, bringing a sense of tranquil unity to the rooms while still honoring the city's lively spirit. Ideal for guests traveling for both business and leisure, guests will find a dedicated lounge space in the king and double queen rooms, complete with a chaise with table for flexible use, in addition to the existing desks. A new luggage bench, desk chair, and table lamp will illuminate the space and add comfort to the existing TV shelf and a redesigned beverage center. Maintaining views of downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake, the renovated rooms will provide a calming yet revitalizing stay. Restaurants and Market Adjacent to the reception area, the new Ripple & Roots restaurant will bring a refined yet approachable dining experience to Hyatt Regency Austin, inspired by centuries of diverse Texas culinary traditions. With influences from Native American, Old South, Latin, and Asian cuisines, the menu will highlight locally sourced ingredients that represent a sophisticated blend of flavors. The restaurant is designed to create an elevated yet comfortable atmosphere, with high ceilings and sculptural banquettes offering a balanced sense of scale and intimacy, while strategic lighting will transition the space from sunlit daytime meals to moody, evening dining. The layout will provide a stylish setting for both quiet dinners and dynamic gatherings, with a private dining room named Waterloo—paying homage to Austin's original name — between the restaurant and the lounge. Connected to the lounge area through a new indoor-outdoor bar experience via retractable glass wall, the Patio will provide an immersive, all-day experience framed by a panoramic lakefront setting and views of the Austin skyline. Designed with comfort and connection in mind, the space will serve as a social hub, blending the outdoor environs with contemporary style. Lush greenery and trees surround the patio, providing a shaded oasis that offers cozy corners for quiet morning reflection and ample seating for a lively afternoon with friends, family, or colleagues. Juniper Breeze Market will offer nourishing meals, snacks or beverages—including specialty coffee drinks—prepared by the hotel's culinary team, along with a selection of products from local small businesses, for guests and locals alike. Named after the indigenous juniper trees that dot the shoreline of Lady Bird Lake, the brand new market's design will highlight the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of Austin while incorporating subtle nods to the city's history. Through streamlined materials to create a simple, functional layout, the market will serve as a convenient location for both productivity and relaxation. Pools and Cabanas At the beginning of the renovation, Hyatt Regency Austin introduced newly designed private cabanas to the outdoor pool area, providing a luxurious element of comfort available for both guests and locals. Accommodating groups of up to six people, those who book the cabanas can upgrade their social and lounge experiences with Ripple & Roots patio service, in addition to top-tier amenities. Meetings and Events With its central location in downtown Austin and more than 45,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, the transformed Hyatt Regency Austin will strengthen its position as a leading destination for events. The hotel's newly renovated venues, including the Zilker, Texas, and Foothills Ballrooms, will provide a wide range of choice for event planners. A unique covered outdoor reception area, the Zilker Terrace, seamlessly extends off the Zilker Skywalk. Enhanced by a selection of diverse food and beverage experiences, the spaces are equipped with modern amenities and bespoke support services. While certain areas will showcase sweeping views of Downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake—such as the new and aptly named Lady Bird meeting room on the second floor—intimate corners will allow for one-to-one conversations in the Zilker Ballroom foyer. Hyatt Regency Austin remains open for guests throughout the course of the renovation.
