Trio crowned winners of Easter bonnet competition

MEMBERS of a local over 60s community group have been getting creative this Easter, throwing their hats in the ring for an Easter bonnet competition.
The Over 60s Club, who are based at Oakfield Community Centre on Brettell Lane, Brierley Hill, held an Easter celebration party that saw members embrace their creative side with the hope of being crowned designer of the best Easter bonnet.
As well as the creative competition, bingo, a raffle, a buffet and other activities, organisers also arranged for local nurse Paul Smith - locally known as "the Singing Nurse" - to take the group through the decades with song.
The Over 60s Club, who are based at Oakfield Community Centre held an Easter celebration party (Image: Cllr Adam Davies) Local ward councillor, Adam Davies, was invited to celebrate with the group and judge the competition alongside Mr Smith.
After much deliberation, it was by Irene Kesterton, Dawn Bowater and Peter Williams who were chosen as the winners.
Cllr Adam Davies said: "It's always a pleasure to come along and support the Over 60s group and to see the members enjoying themselves with friends old and new.
"There were some really great entries to the competition, so a big well done to everyone who entered.

Dawn Bowater, one of the club leaders and one-third of the competition winners, added: "We're proud of our club and love to have our parties.
'We really appreciate Adam and Paul coming along to support us as well and would encourage anyone over 60 who is at home thinking of trying our club to get in touch."
