
SCR GM takes part in ‘Fit India Cyclothon'
Hyderabad: South Central Railways General Manager Arun Kumar Jain flagged off and pedalled in the 'Fit India Cyclothon' event along with team of SCR officials at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad on Sunday.
The event was organised by SCR Sports Association as part of the Khelo India Scheme's FIT INDIA initiative under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to promote the culture of fitness across Railway work force and communities.
Arun Kumar Jain complimented the sports association in taking up this appropriate and important initiative. He stressed on the importance of staying fit which is very important and need of the hour. 'The Fit India
Movement campaign has really helped everyone in a big way to keep fit and healthy. Cycling is very good for health and nowadays, many people in other countries are cycling to maintain fitness. Cycling is an environment friendly activity and improves health also,' he said.
Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR, Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, Senior Railway Officials, SCR Sports Association Officials and SCR Sportsmen were amongst those participated.
The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment has taken up the Fit India Cycling drive. Envisioned by Prime Minister as People's Movement, the FIT INDIA Movement is an endeavour to involve citizens of the country to make India a fit nation.

Babita Phogat cycles in Delhi's Fit India initiative, promotes healthy lifestyle
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former wrestler Babita Phogat participated in the 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' initiative in the national capital on Sunday, promoting the importance of health and fitness among citizens. Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of the event, Phogat said, 'It feels great. I urge everyone to stay healthy... If we stay healthy, not only our body but also our mind will remain healthy. A healthy mind resides only in a healthy body.' She credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Fit India Movement, which, she said, had inspired people across the country to adopt a healthier lifestyle. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Fit India campaign, and today, many people have joined to keep themselves healthy. I thank all the people who are joining the Fit India campaign,' she added. Meanwhile, over 15000 participations from more than 500 locations in the country is expected this Sunday, with the movement being consistently organised in deep pockets like Chitradurga (Karnataka), Solal gaon (Assam), Janjgir Champa (Chhattisgarh), Pandharpur (Maharashtra), and more, a release from the Union Sports Ministry noted. Speaking ahead of the special edition, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya said, 'The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative resonates with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to action for a healthier, cleaner and more active India. Taking this people's movement forward, the upcoming edition will be particularly meaningful as our 'Swacchata Senanis' come together to uphold the essence of the nationwide cycling drive.' The Sports Minister has also urged all municipal bodies and urban local bodies across states to replicate the event in their own regions, ensuring maximum participation and visibility. Launched in December last year, with just 500 cycling enthusiasts, the Fit India Cycling Drive has since evolved into a national movement. As of now, the movement has been organised in more than 10,500 locations across the nation with the participation of more than 3.75 lakh individuals. These cycling drives are conducted by several Khelo India Centres (KICs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India Accredited Academies (KIAAs), and National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs) across the country. Fit India Sundays on Cycle Pandharpur Edition 2025 sees over 5000 cyclists
Pandharpur, (Maharashtra) [India] June 22 (ANI): In a remarkable fusion of spiritual devotion, physical fitness, and environmental consciousness, the 4th Akhil Maharashtra Pandharpur Cycle Wari Sammelan - 2025 was celebrated with great fervour and unity, according to a release from Sai Media. This mega event of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was jointly organised by the Sports Authority of India, Regional Centre - Mumbai, and the Pandharpur Cycle Wari Sangh. Over 5000 cyclists representing more than 90 cycling clubs from across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya pradesh participated in the event. These dedicated cyclists undertook a journey spanning 400 to 450 kilometres, starting 3-4 days in advance, to reach the holy town of Pandharpur, Solapur district in Maharashtra. They actively took part in the spiritually significant Nagar Pradakshina and the energetic Ringan Sohala, showcasing exemplary determination, devotion, and endurance. The event was honoured by the esteemed presence of several dignitaries like Raksha Khadse, Union Minister of State for youth affairs and Sports J B Gore, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Govt of Maharashtra. Among others were Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil, MP, Prashant Paricharak, Member of Legislative Council, Ranjitsinh Mohite Patil, Member of Legislative Council, Pandurang Chate, IRS, Regional Director, Sports Authority of India, RC Mumbai & Amit Samarth, Renowned Endurance Cyclist & 19-time Ironman, Nagpur The Railway Ground, Pandharpur, was transformed into a vibrant centre of energy and inspiration under the Fit India - Sundays on Cycle banner. The event conveyed a powerful message promoting sustainable transport, community health, and spiritual unity, reinforcing that cycling is not just a sport but a way of life aligned with a healthier and greener India. Echoing the spirit of the Fit India Movement, the event promoted the national fitness mantra: 'Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz' , encouraging every citizen to embrace physical activity as a daily habit and contribute to building a fitter, environmentally conscious nation. "We are making India a fitness powerhouse": Mansukh Mandaviya leads Fit India Sundays on Cycle
New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): The Fit India Sundays on Cycle event rolled out in full force at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Sunday in the presence of Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya. Organised in collaboration with Yogasana Bharat nationwide, the event in the national capital saw an inspiring lineup of athletes and celebrities, including actress and newly inducted Fit India Ambassador Mia Maelzer, Olympian racewalker Priyanka Goswami, former Indian women's hockey captain Rani Rampal, taekwondo champion Rodali Barua, and Indian actress Madhurima Tuli, who is also a Fit India icon. The cycling event came on the heels of the International Yoga Day, which was celebrated on June 21. Addressing mediapersons, Mandaviya said, 'This Sunday's cycling is even more special. Yesterday, yoga events were held across 6,000+ locations nationwide, and over one crore people participated across 10 lakh+ venues. 'Under Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision, Fit India has become a movement. When we put even one pedal in the cycle forward, we are making India a fitness powerhouse. From yoga yesterday, to cycling today, and Olympic Day tomorrow--this fitness revolution is connecting every Indian,' Mandaviya said as per a SAI press release. The Fit India Sundays on Cycle event saw a 5000-strong capacity in Pandharpur, Maharashtra; the event was graced by Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse. A total of 90 cycling clubs took part in the rally. 'The Pandharpur Fit India Sundays on Cycle symbolises Hon'ble Prime Minister's message of 'Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi aur Fitness Bhi',' mentioned Khadse. Actress Mia Maelzer, meanwhile, expressed excitement on attending the event in New Delhi. ' There's nothing more fulfilling than doing something meaningful for my country. When I cycled today, I felt like flying-- it was a total butterfly moment! It's not just about staying fit, it's also an answer to climate change, especially for Delhi. I'm grateful to the Hon'ble Prime Minister and the Sports Minister for giving such a strong push to youth fitness and engagement,' the actress admitted. Olympian Priyanka Goswami echoed the message, saying, 'We must strive to keep our bodies active. Whether it's urban or rural India, we all have to take PM Modi's message of 'Fitness ki dose, aadha ghanta roz' seriously. Cycling brings back the joy of movement--it keeps the legs strong and boosts health.' Former Indian hockey captain Rani Rampal emphasised the role of such campaigns in shaping India's youth. 'Initiatives like Fit India Sundays on Cycle engage young people and spread awareness about discipline and fitness. Cycling is not just transport; it's a lifestyle change. Whenever you travel, try to use a cycle--you inspire others by example,' she expressed. Rodali Barua, speaking as a youth role model and taekwondo athlete, connected the movement with India's Olympic ambitions. 'The 2036 Olympic vision by our Hon'ble PM is a powerful goal for every athlete. Sundays on Cycle is a great initiative, especially for working professionals who struggle for time on weekdays.
