Mitch Garver and Mariners beat Rangers in 12 as all 3 games of series go extra innings
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Mitch Garver hit a two-run homer in the 12th and drove in four runs, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 6-4 on Sunday to win a series in which all three games went to extra innings.
The Mariners took a 3-1 lead in the 10th on RBI singles by Donovan Solano and Garver, but Corey Seager's two-run shot pulled the Rangers even. The Mariners won the series opener 7-6 in 12 before dropping the middle game 3-2 in 10.
It was the first time three games in the same series for Texas went to extra innings since all four at Seattle in September 2002. The Mariners won the first three games of that series before the Rangers took the finale.
Solano put Seattle ahead 4-3 in the 12th on a groundout that third baseman Josh Jung couldn't get out of his glove, allowing automatic runner Luke Raley to score. On the next pitch from Cole Winn (0-1), Garver's fourth homer went 437 feet into the second deck in left field.
Seager's tying homer was his 10th, an opposite field shot to left center off Carlos Vargas.
Trent Thornton (2-0) gave up Seager's sacrifice fly in the 10th, striking out two in his two innings.

Texas rookie left fielder Alejandro Osuna threw out Cal Raleigh at home during Seattle's two-run 10th. Without that, Seager's shot couldn't have tied the score in the bottom of the inning.

Jays' Scherzer finds his ‘good stuff' in strong start against Yankees
TORONTO – Pitcher Max Scherzer's second start at Rogers Centre this season was far more successful than this first. The three-time Cy Young Award winner pitched five strong innings on Monday night as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 5-4. Scherzer struck out seven while allowing three hits and two runs on 71 pitches. He also did not walk a batter, and his fastball topped out at over 95 miles-per-hour. 'I thought I was on the ball better today,' said Scherzer post-game. 'I kind of made a little adjustment in-between starts and I felt like it got me in and really started dialing in pitches.' Scherzer was forced to leave his first start with the Blue Jays on March 29 after just 41 pitches due to a thumb issue, spending the next three months on the Injured List. Monday was just his third start of the season. 'I felt like I had a good fastball tonight,' he said, crediting the pitch for his success against a vaunted Yankees lineup. 'I was able to pitch with that and set up every other pitch and it allowed me to kind of navigate their lineup a little bit when I was in there. So, there's a lot of good.' This version of Scherzer appears to be the version the Blue Jays were expecting when they signed him to a one-year contract worth $15.5 million. Langeliers and Butler lead Athletics past Rays
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Shea Langeliers smashed a three-run homer in his first plate appearance since coming off the injured list, and Lawrence Butler broke a ninth-inning tie with a two-run triple that lifted the Athletics over the Tampa Bay Rays 6-4 on Monday night. The Athletics made two key defensive plays in the bottom of the eighth to keep it tied at 4. The Rays had runners on first and second with no outs when Junior Caminero hit a hard grounder to third, but Max Muncy stepped on the bag and threw to first for a double play. Josh Lowe then singled to left field but Colby Thomas threw a dart to home plate to get Brandon Lowe.
