Woman booked for getting suspicious items to jail
In a complaint, Sharanabasappa, superintendent of the jail, said the visitor, Ramsoona S, arrived at the jail to meet an undertrial prisoner, Mohammad Askar, at 12.45pm on Thursday.
She was carrying five packets of snacks to be given to Askar. The Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) staff at the jail, while checking the snack packets thoroughly, found suspicious objects covered in aluminium foil inside them. The suspicious objects, in the form of powder, resembled MDMA.
Ramsoona told officers that Askar asked her to collect the packets from one Hussain from Hosangadi. Accordingly, she collected the packets and brought them to the jail.

Thai woman, Nigerian man arrested with MD drugs
Bhopal: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on the Yasin-Shahwar drug trafficking ring, Bhopal Crime Branch on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a Thai woman and a Nigerian national for allegedly supplying synthetic drugs in the city. Police seized 2.95 grams of MDMA (commonly known as MD) during the operation. According to police, the Nigerian national is believed to be the primary MDMA supplier for Yasin's network, while the Thai woman was actively involved in distributing drugs both online and offline in Bhopal and Delhi. The woman also worked at spa centres in the city, allegedly using them as fronts for drug peddling activities. Following the arrest of six members of Yasin's gang, police expanded their probe and unearthed links to Delhi, where a Nigerian man was identified as a key supplier. The Thai woman ferried consignments to Bhopal over the past two years and even rented a flat in Sheetal Dham, Hoshangabad Road, to facilitate operations. The Crime Branch nabbed the 41-year-old Thai woman from her residence and recovered 2.95 grams of MDMA, which was intended for a private party at a city farmhouse. However, the woman was unaware of the exact destination for the consignment. The woman has a prior record of a fraud case registered at Gandhi Nagar police station, Bhopal. The arrested Nigerian national, identified as 34-year-old Orachor Onyeka, is already facing cases under the Foreigners Act and fraud sections at DLF Phase-1 police station in Delhi. Onyeka has a sprawling drug distribution network across Bhopal, Delhi, and other Indian cities. Police sources revealed that he imports MDMA from foreign countries and has been operating in India for the past seven years. He contacted his clients through WhatsApp, Telegram, and other online platforms. He supplied MDMA to the nabbed drug peddlers Yasin and Shahwar. Cops believe that he might be manufacturing the chemical drugs at his hideout. Spa Centres Under Scanner After Thai Woman's Arrest: The Crime Branch officials confirmed that the arrested Thai woman worked at multiple spa centres in Bhopal and Delhi. This has brought the city's spa establishments under police scrutiny to ascertain if they were used as drug distribution hubs. Officials hinted that more names might surface during the ongoing investigation. Additional DCP (Crime Branch) Shailendra Singh Chouhan said that police recovered Indian SIM cards from the nabbed Nigerian man and Thai woman. They were issued on a local Indian individual's identity. Police are investigating the numbers and trying to contact the person on whose documents these SIM cards were issued. If the accused fraudulently used the documents to get the SIM cards, a separate FIR will be registered against them. Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said, "Both foreign nationals are being interrogated further. The Nigerian was primarily operating through Delhi, while the Thai woman was active in both Delhi and Bhopal. More revelations are expected as the investigation progresses."

Key accused in drug trafficking case arrested
T'puram: In a major breakthrough in the crackdown on synthetic drug trafficking , Fort police arrested the key accused in an inter-state MDMA smuggling case. The accused, Anuvin, 22, a native of Kerala, was arrested in Bengaluru on Monday. The arrest followed the earlier apprehension of Gopakumar of Muttathara, who was caught with 32g of MDMA. During interrogation, Gopakumar revealed that the drugs were sourced from Bengaluru. Acting on this information, a special investigation team, under the directive of Thiruvananthapuram city police commissioner, raided paying guest (PG) hostels in Bengaluru, eventually nabbing Anuvin. According to police, Anuvin played a key role in supplying MDMA and other synthetic drugs to several districts in Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram. He allegedly operated with the help of middlemen and targeted PG hostels where Malayali students resided. His modus operandi involved befriending youngsters, especially through social media and initially introducing them to small quantities of MDMA before luring them into the drug trade. The investigation uncovered that drugs worth several lakhs were trafficked into Kerala over the past year through this network. Anuvin was produced before a court and was remanded in custody. The arrest was carried out by a team comprising Fort ACP Shibu, SHO Sivakumar, SIs Atul Prem and Suresh Sreekumar and senior CPOs Sijumon, Sreejith and Arya.

How MP police anti-drugs campaign earned pride of place in world record books
A Madhya Pradesh police drive against substance abuse and addiction has notched unprecedented success and a place in the World Book of Records. State director general of police Kailash Makwana will be in the British parliament on September 13 for a special felicitation ceremony for the London-based World Book of Records recognised the anti-addiction drive 'Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori', organised from July 15 to July 30, for its scale of engagement with people and impact. The campaign directly reached an estimated 2.3 million people besides millions through social media World Book of Records has already organised a felicitation event at the Madhya Pradesh police headquarters in Bhopal, where the certificate was presented to Makwana. Top police officials, such as K.P. Venkateshwara Rao, additional director general (narcotics), were 'Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori' programme was conceptualised by the Madhya Pradesh police and run through all field units, including the 1,700-odd police stations across 57 districts of the state. The police also roped in influencers for anti-addiction messaging to the people. The Indore police commissionerate was the most proactive, organising massive human chains and oath-taking activity during the fortnight. The campaign, also involving the education, social welfare and health departments, was focused on narcotics. MP is one of the few states allowing licenced cultivation of opium in the western districts of Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam and Shajapur. The opium is used by the pharma there have been reports of illegal opium cultivation as well. Of late, incidents have emerged of the manufacturing and supply of party drugs such as MDMA (3, 4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine), popularly known as ecstasy. Last October, Gujarat sleuths busted a factory producing MDMA in an industrial area on the outskirts of Bhopal. And just last week, MDMA was found on one of the three men arrested in the arrest of the suspect and his family members coincided with the anti-addiction campaign. The administration deployed bulldozers to dismantle properties owned by the business to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data for 2022, Madhya Pradesh, with 4,811 cases, ranked seventh in the country for cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
