Robert Giuffre filed for temporary custody of two of the couple's three children shortly after both made official police reports accusing each other of abuse.
Virginia - who helped to jail paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and accused Prince Andrew of having sex with her twice as a 17-year-old - alleged Robert hospitalized her after a night of abuse.
On January 9, Virginia told her brother Sky about an alleged incident where Robert "punched her over and over".
Virginia claimed the alleged attack was sparked when she refused to have sex with her husband.
At this point the pair were estranged and living apart with them only meeting to spend time with the children.
Sky recalls Virginia facetiming him and saying she had suffered recurring injuries to her sternum and spine.
Robert soon hit back with accusations of his own as he claimed Virginia headbutted, spat and punched him on the same evening.
Police were informed of both accusations and investigated them but no charges were filed.
Robert then managed to take custody of their two youngest children.
Around the same time, he filed a restraining order against his former partner - leaving Virginia on her own and unable to see her children.

She never saw her children again as cops found Virginia, 41, unresponsive at her remote farmhouse in April.
In the weeks after her suicide, Virginia's family and friends found her notebook which revealed how much the mum had been struggling in her final moments without seeing her children.
The very last diary entry was titled: "To the kids."
It read: "Everyday that I don't see your faces has a little less light.
"The world is dimmer without you in it."
The rest of the page was filled out with poignant song lyrics which said: "It'll all be alright, you've always had a rainbow over your head, angels by your side and God in your heart.
"I'm here for you here and everywhere."
The written message to her children came just weeks after another desperate plea from Virginia.

In March, she posted a photograph of herself that quickly made headlines around the world as she was covered in bruises and in a hospital bed.
Virginia claimed her car had been hit by a school bus travelling at nearly 70mph and had just four days left to live.
In a gut-wrenching statement she said: 'I'm ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time.'
However, shock quickly turned to confusion after Australian police revealed the collision was logged as a minor traffic incident and that no injuries were reported.
Virginia representatives later said that the Instagram post was a mistake and had been intended for a private page.
Her family believe the post was a final attempt to reach out to her children.
A family torn apart
The final months of Virginia's life were said to have been tougher than any legal battle or mental scars left behind by Epstein or Prince Andrew, her sister-in-law said.
Her passing followed a series of troubling events involving allegations of abuse, the mysterious bus crash riddle and her family being torn apart.
Now, Virginia's loved ones and her heart-wrenching last few diary entries have revealed how tough her final days really were.
Amanda Roberts, the wife of Virginia's younger brother Sky, told The Times: "[She] may have fought battles with some of the most powerful men in the world, like Epstein and Prince Andrew.
"But what people didn't understand was that [in her final days] the hardest battle of her life was at home.
"Her death was a terrible ending to this story, but there is a big part of it she never got to tell."
The hardship revolved around her home life and most notably her once trusted husband of 22 years Robert.
The martial arts instructor and the father to Virginia's three children, reportedly left the brave accuser back in August 2023.
But in a tell-all interview shortly before her death, Virginia came forward for the first time with allegations that she had suffered abuse at the hands of her husband.
'I was able to fight back against Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, who abused and trafficked me," she said in a statement to People magazine.
Who was Virginia Giuffre?
VIRGINIA Roberts - later Virginia Giuffre, 41, was an American-Australian campaigner and a prominent victim of the sex trafficking ring of Jeffrey Epstein.
She made claims against Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, as well as Brit socialite Ghislaine Maxwell - Jeffrey Epstein's ex-lover.
Giuffre alleged in court documents that she was procured by Maxwell, 63, the daughter of disgraced tycoon Robert Maxwell, as a teenage 'sex slave' for Epstein.
She released a manuscript just hours before Epstein's death, which added to more than 2,000 documents of a lawsuit pending against the former financier and his pals.
The legal documents were released in a defamation case involving Giuffre, who has claimed in court documents that Prince Andrew slept with her three times.
In 2019, Virginia Roberts claimed that she had sex with Prince Andrew in a toilet when she was 17, after a night where he had allegedly been plying her with vodka in a posh London club.
On February 15, 2022, it was announced that Prince Andrew settled the lawsuit - sparing him a humiliating court battle.
'But I was unable to escape the domestic violence in my marriage until recently. After my husband's latest physical assault, I can no longer stay silent."
Virginia's family have now shared extracts from her diary at the beginning of this year, in which she shares her memories of her marriage as it was faltering.
She alleges Robert was violent, abusive and 'emotionally and physically controlling' within the texts and legal filings.
One passage detailed how Virginia believed the ramifications of her speaking out against Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and making the claims against Andrew caused her marriage to break down over time.
Virginia wrote in her diary: "The stronger I became, the scarier he became.
"Instead of praising his wife's accomplishments he began to be jealous, trying to make me stop advocating for victims of trafficking".
Another page detailed Virginia's worries as she claimed there were "increased signs of possessiveness" from Robert towards her.
These allegedly included him telling Virginia his best mates were trying to sleep with her and banning her from going downstairs when any man was over at their home.
"I became a prisoner," she wrote.
Robert's attorney has said they cannot comment on the accusations due to legal proceedings relating to the family ongoing in Western Australia.

In the Bureau of Prisons video obtained and reviewed by CBS News, a shadowy figure moved towards the sex offender's cell block in New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center at about 10.40 p.m. on August 9, 2019, just hours before Epstein was found hanged. According to a report by the DOJ's Office of Inspector General, the orange blob is believed to be a correctional officer 'carrying linen or inmate clothing' up the stairs to the convicted sex trafficker 's tier. Forensic video analysts who reviewed the footage as part of the news network's investigation argued that the figure could just as easily have been a person wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, and not just carrying it. 'Based on the limited video, it's more likely it's a person in an [orange] uniform,' according to Conor McCourt, a retired sergeant for the New York City Police Department and forensic video expert. The experts' analysis challenges the DOJ and the FBI 's claim that no one could have entered Epstein's cell and that the financier died by suicide. The FBI claimed that surveillance cameras would have captured anyone entering the special housing unit or Epstein's tier on video. However, the experts contest that the camera does not cover the main entrance of the unit, the staircase in full leading to Epstein's cell, or his cell door. 'To say that there's no way that someone could get to that — the stairs up to his room — without being seen is false,' video forensics expert Jim Stafford concluded. CBS News said that four other leading forensics experts interviewed 'concurred' with Stafford's analysis. Earlier this month, the DOJ and FBI said they released 11 hours of 'full raw' surveillance footage from inside the jail. The presence of a cursor and on-screen menu indicates that it was likely a screen capture rather than the raw footage exported directly from the prison's digital video recorder system. Stafford, who analyzed the video's metadata, said it showed the file was first created on May 23 of this year and was not from 2019. The Office of the Inspector General addressed the theories raised by CBS in a statement to the network. 'The OIG appreciates the careful review of our report,' it said. 'Our comprehensive assessment of the circumstances over the weeks, days, and hours before Epstein's death included the effects of the longstanding, chronic staffing crisis in the BOP and the BOP's failure to provide and maintain quality camera coverage within its facilities.' 'As CBS notes, nothing in its analysis changed or modified the OIG's conclusions or recommendations,' the statement concluded. CBS News's report is the latest in a growing list of unresolved questions surrounding the video, as scrutiny over the Trump administration's handling of the Epstein investigation intensifies. Earlier this month, an analysis by Wired challenged the administration's claims that the footage was unedited. Forensic experts who worked with the magazine to analyze the metadata embedded in the video concluded that the footage had been 'modified,' most likely using Adobe Premiere Pro editing software. Professor Hany Farid, a digital forensics and misinformation expert at UC Berkeley, told Wired that the footage would not be considered valid evidence in court. Farid questioned why the aspect ratio 'suddenly' shifts. Attorney General Pam Bondi had already faced backlash after one minute of footage appeared to be missing from the jail video capturing Epstein's final hours. A digital clock visible on the bottom left corner of the footage jumps from 11:58:58 p.m. to 12:00:00 a.m. Bondi blamed an outdated recording system that produced the video, claiming it resets every day at midnight and skips the same minute each evening.

A student athlete was filmed being savagely beaten by three football players while taking part in a Christian summer camp. The horrific ordeal, which has gone viral online, occurred during a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) camp at Presbyterian College in South Carolina on July 7. According to lawyers representing the boy, the perpetrators were DW Daniel High School football players - whose friends also recorded the punch-up. Their football coach, Chris Stone, has been put on leave following the fight. Several students have been criminally charged over the gory attack, the school board announced, without providing further details. In the frightening footage, the victim was punched in the face by one individual before another person attacked him inside a dorm room. The unnamed boy was pushed onto the bed by the two, who continued to assault him. The young man attempted to block their punches with his hands. He was then pushed out of frame as one individual said, 'I got to get in here', before they joined in with the beatdown. While the three carried out the attack, another could be seen filming it. The group then backed away from the boy before one returned to punch him in the head. As the three left the room, one of them said: 'Don't even get up', as another added: 'Watch your s*** next time, you know we are not the same n****.' In a statement to Malarkey News, the boy said his attackers had accused him of using racial slurs prior to the assault, which he has denied. He said the attack left him with a 'serious' concussion, and bruises across his head and ribcage. He added that he is no longer able to participate in combat sports. The law firm representing the boy said the camp was a school-sanctioned event with the FCA renting out the campus when the incident took place. In a statement earlier this week, the Pickens County School District Board of Trustees said that several DW Daniel High students were criminally charged after the fight. They said: 'The full Board of Trustees of the School District of Pickens County was made aware late last week that a very serious incident occurred at a school sponsored football camp at Presbyterian College earlier this month. 'Board members have now seen the disturbing video that is circulating on social media. 'This incident, which involved numerous student athletes, resulted in the injury of one student and criminal charges for several students.' It added: 'This matter is serious, not acceptable, and is being addressed by the administration and law enforcement. 'According to the statement all of those involved are minors, and that they are all facing disciplinary action at school and athletic levels. 'The Board is appalled that this serious incident occurred and that a student was injured during a school-sponsored event.' The football coach of the Daniel High School team Chris Stone has also been placed on administrative paid leave as the district conducts an investigation. Stone was brought in to lead the team in April of this year, with the victim saying in his statement that Stone was inside the building at the time. 'Multiple teammates were coming in and out while I was trapped in my room, but nobody thought to get a coach', the boy said. In a statement, 8th Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo said his office was aware of the fight and was monitoring the situation. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes said that the behavior of those captured on their camp 'falls unacceptably short of our standards'. The law firm said they released the footage in hopes of other people coming forward with information that could help the investigation.

'The GOP is already struggling with female voters and they're not all lefties. There are young, conservative women who aren't in love with Trump or MAGA, there are. And this will not help,' Kelly said. Combs was found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution purposes earlier this month in federal court in New York. The music mogul faced a roughly eight-week-long trial on allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering as well, though he was acquitted on those charges. Regardless of the legal punishment Combs faces for his conviction, his reputation has been tarnished by the trial, which revealed Combs had physically, emotionally, verbally, and sexually abused several women, including his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura. Throughout the trial, witnesses painted Combs as sexually deviant and uncontrollably angry – at any moment, he could become physically violent. 'We all saw the videotape of him beating the hell out of Cassandra Ventura. But there was so much more testimony about the other women he repeatedly beat all the way up to when he was arrested. He doesn't deserve any of Trump's mercy,' Kelly said. Trump has not formally agreed to pardon Combs, but when confronted with the question back in May, he did not rule it out. "I would certainly look at the facts," Trump said to Fox News reporter Peter Doocy. "If I think somebody was mistreated – whether they like me or don't like me, it wouldn't have any impact." Rumors escalated on Wednesday after Deadline reported that an unnamed Trump administration source said a pardon was being 'seriously considered.' The White House declined to comment on the speculation to Deadline. On her podcast, Kelly also pointed out that not only would a pardon be poorly perceived by women, but the situation could also inflame anger directed at the administration for its handling of the Epstein Files. Trump has declined to release any remaining documents related to the government's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender who was accused of abusing women and girls and running a decades-long sex trafficking scheme. The president said on the campaign trail he would release the files. Various senior members of the administration had also theorized about undisclosed information related to Epstein. Many people, including a large portion of Trump's base, believed the government concealed Epstein's 'client list' of high-profile individuals. '[Trump's] in trouble because he's making it look like, to the MAGA base, he's part of the elite cabal that covers for other members of the elite cabal,' Kelly pointed out. 'Trump pardoning Diddy will create another Epstein for him.'
