Open legends extending their 25-year scrap into another Major battle

Stewart Cink and Padraig Harrington at it again after over two decades
Honoured Stewart Cink admits it'll be a pleasure to enjoy yet another epic battle with fellow Open legend Padraig Harrington.
The pair are set for the latest ding-dong in Colorado at the US Senior Open as they both share the halfway lead with Aussie Mark Hensby.

Cink and Harrington have their names etched in the history of the Open Championship having run-off a hat-trick of Claret Jug wins. The Irishman was crowned Champion Golfer of the Year in 2007 and Carnoustie and 2008 at Royal Birkdale before the American took the honours in 2009 with his dramatic win over Tom Watson at Turnberry.

The American has nothing but admiration for Harrington and said: 'We've played together so many times. I would be shocked if there's anybody I've played more golf with in major championships than Padraig Harrington over my career and it's probably by double the next guy. I just get paired with him all the time. This goes way back 20, 25 years.
'I've always respected his game and we're very good friends with their family. It's a comfortable pairing. I love watching him play. I would hope that he probably feels similarly about me. We have mutual respect for each other. He's a world class player and he's been doing it a long time. I would love it if we could go the distance here.
'We played against each other in the Ryder Cup. That's like the pinnacle of competition. I don't even know if he got the better of me or if I got the better of him. But all I know is I've watched him play a lot and I've listened to him talk a lot. He's just a great character and I have just the highest respect for his game.
It's going to be fun. I feel honoured to be able to go up against him and, hopefully, he feels the same way. I thrive on it. We love it. I love the fact that I haven't played great these first two days. I've played pretty good golf but nothing spectacular, but I've watched him play kind of the same way. He's played very well and he's also made some mistakes that he probably would like to have back. Neither of us have hit our stride here, so hopefully we get a little bit better and turn the screws a little bit. I have a feeling that Harrington and I are going to be in it late.'
The Dubliner returned the compliments and said: 'I played with Stewart a lot over the years and a lot of my good tournaments have been played with Stewart, so he's a good partner for me always. I think on the Champions Tour, it's a better partner because there's a lot of similarities in our clubs.
'If anything, he'd be a little bit longer than me, but I suppose I know his game enough that I can see what's happening as well. He is definitely a partner I would choose to play with.'

Western Force 7 British & Irish Lions 54: Tourists run riot in Perth but Tomos Williams hands worrying injury scare

But there was an injury scare when scrum-half Tomos Williams limped off with hamstring trouble after pulling up after scoring his second try after 47 minutes. Northampton back row Pollock made a try, got involved in a scrap with Western Force lock Darcy Swain, got yellow carded and threw a horror pass to James Lowe behind his own line. And that was just in the first half. If the Australians did not know who Pollock is they do now and it looks like he is going to be making plenty of noise down under for the next few weeks. The 20-year-old was one of the Lions to stand up - despite his card – and was always involved in the thick of the action and must have a fighting chance of making the Test 23. It took just 16 minutes for Pollock to let the Australians know he had arrived when he set up Tomos Williams' score and he never went away. Farrell was fuming after last Friday's 28-24 defeat to Argentina in Dublin which got the tour off on the wrong foot and nothing but a thumping win would do here. The boss had seven familiar Irish faces in his starting line-up including captain for the day and hooker Dan Sheehan as the countdown to the first Test in Brisbane in three weeks started properly. But then came Pollock with a storming run after playing a one-two with Josh van der Flier. Pollock was caught short of the line but popped the ball up for Williams to score. Then Elliot Daly scored after Finn Russell's crafty quick tap and run and Pollock and Swain had some afters following the Englishman's celebration. Then Pollock was carded for playing the ball on the floor but he took one for the team there as the Lions were on a warning. It was over as a game when Williams went over for his second and with Garry Ringrose's score, it was 33-7 before Joe McCarthy helped the tourists get to 40 after Pollock's kick had pinned Force back. Daly added a second as tourists cruised past 40 and Force were done with Mitchell bringing up the 50. Novak Djokovic clamps Carlos Alcaraz for lacking 'respect' as rival calls out rival's Wimbledon 'big lie'

The pair returned to SW19 for media duties before the 2025 edition and couldn't resist some mischief Mischievous Novak Djokovic isn't buying rival Carlos Alcaraz's fawning claims of respect after being mercilessly put to the sword in consecutive Wimbledon Finals. The pair returned to SW19 for media duties before the 2025 edition and the amiable Spaniard was effusive in his praise of the man he has defeated in back-to-back centre court Finals at Wimbledon. ‌ And the 22-year-old - already a five-time major winner - reckons the most decorated man of the Open era was also exaggerating his feelings about their recent meetings. ‌ Reigning and defending champion Alcaraz said: "He said he was privileged to play this year because of me, because I was defending champion but that was a big lie. "I'm privileged to play with a seven-time champion here, it's crazy what he has done. Not only on grass but it's a privilege.' But Djokovic couldn't resist a chance to lob one back across the court. The 38-year-old teased: I'm looking for a little bit more respect from him. He's talking about respect but the last two years he didn't give me the respect on this court.'
