She was serving as the acting VC since July 25, 2024. Before assuming the role of acting VC, Kanjilal served as pro VC from March 2021 to July 2024. "Her longstanding association with IGNOU spans various key leadership roles, including Director, Centre for Online Education (2019–2021); Director, Inter-University Consortium for Technology Enabled Flexible Education (2016–2019)," the official added.

A professor of library and information science since 2003, Kanjilal is nationally recognised for her expertise in e-learning, ICT in libraries, digital libraries, and multimedia courseware development.
She is currently the national coordinator for Swayam and Swayam Prabha, flagship digital education initiatives of the Ministry of Education.
According to officials, her global contributions include a Fulbright Fellowship at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1999–2000), consultancy for the Commonwealth of Learning, and digital education work for UNRWA in Jordan. She received multiple accolades, including the Manthan Award for e-Education, an Australia-India Council Grant, and a DANIDA Fellowship.
"Kanjilal was instrumental in expanding IGNOU's digital infrastructure and online education offerings. Her leadership as the principal investigator of the National Virtual Library of India Project and her current role as coordinator of IGNOU's Project Management Unit under NMEICT Phase-III reflect her deep commitment to digital empowerment in education," the official added.

Delhi govt plans to install boom barriers on Shahdara drain outfall
The Irrigation and Flood Control department (I&FC) of the Delhi government is planning to install floating trash boom barriers at two locations on the outfall of the Shahdara drain to intercept and prevent floating waste and debris from entering the Yamuna. (Vipin Kumar/HT Photo) The project is likely to cost ₹10 lakh, the tender said, a copy of which HT has seen. Work is required to be completed within 75 days of awarding of the tender, it said. The boom barrier should have a tensile strength of 180–200kg and a minimum guarantee period of one year has been mandated for the material, the tender adds, stating work will be carried out under the supervision of the executive engineer of the I&FC's civil division 3. 'The trash boom shall be permanently inflated and made of synthetic fabric such as nylon or polyester coated with PVC. The tensile strength shall be 180-200kg,' said the tender, adding that all accessories, including shore anchors, ropes and buoys needed to be supplied as part of the tender. 'At each 25-metre connection, an anchor has to be deployed according to specification and in all controlling trash in flowing water,' the tender said. Boom barriers are floating devices, which are being increasingly used on rivers across the world to trap and remove waste from entering larger water bodies such as lakes or seas. Among the major drains that outfall into the Yamuna, Shahdara is the second largest polluter. Data shared by Delhi's environment department with the National Green Tribunal-appointed high-level committee on the Yamuna in January 2023 had identified that the Najafgarh drain accounted for 68.71% of all wastewater being discharged into the Yamuna, followed by the Shahdara drain (10.9%) and the Barapullah drain (3.15%). The plan to install boom barriers follows similar installations on the uncovered portion of Kushak drain in May – to prevent waste from entering the covered stretch. In March, a similar tender was floating for installing a boom barrier on the Barapullah drain.

NTA declares SWAYAM January 2025 semester exam result held in hybrid mode
SWAYAM January 2025 Result: The NTA on July 25 announced the Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) January 2025 semester exam results. The SWAYAM January 2025 result of the exams held in hybrid mode can be checked and downloaded from the NTA website – As per NTA data, the hybrid-mode exams covered 65 courses, with 2,226 candidates registered and 1,864 candidates appearing for the exams. The announcement follows an earlier declaration on June 27, 2025, regarding results for 524 computer-based test (CBT) courses. The committe, headed by Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, also noted that digital initiatives in education would only provide lukewarm response in terms of engagement unless the Union education ministry proactively assisted in placements, wherever possible, or established a platform associated with SWAYAM for connecting recruiters to students. The SWAYAM platform facilitates hosting of courses, taught in classrooms from Class 9 till postgraduation, to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. All the courses are interactive and available free of cost to learners.
