Run Games surprise-launches Football Heroes League

Business Mayor04-05-2025
Run Games revealed its new game, Football Heroes League, at Gamescom Latam this week as part of the Future Games Show. The title is a tactical multiplayer soccer game. After revealing the game, Run Games surprise-launched Football Heroes League into early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Version 1.0 will also launch on mobile and console.
Football Heroes League is a follow-up on Run's previous mobile game, Football Heroes Online. It's a multiplayer title with onlin 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and ranked matches. Players can choose from several characters, each with their own superpowers and abilities. These can include not only fancy kicks and midfield defense, but also robots to defend goals.
The game also features tactical gameplay, with easy-to-use controls that mimic the real sport. The early access launch includes five heroes, with more to come as the early access period continues. The game is free-to-play, with a paid All Character Bundle featuring skins, emotes and recolors.
Michael Marzola, Run Games' creative director, said in a statement, 'I've played soccer my whole life, and many of us here at Run Games play it competitively, and we wanted to find a way to fuse the rush of being on the pitch, and the tactics of soccer, with the fantastical action and approachability of arcade sports games. We want Football Heroes League to give you an appreciation for the depth of soccer, but with all the wild action you expect from video games.'

The Outer Worlds 2 will no longer be one of Microsoft's first $80 Xbox games

Microsoft-owned developer Obsidian Entertainment is announcing a price drop for the The Outer Worlds 2 today. The game was originally supposed to debut at $79.99 in October, but it's now going back to the regular $69.99 Xbox game price. Microsoft announced earlier this year that it would be raising the price of new Xbox first-party games from $69.99 to $79.99, alongside increases to its consoles and controllers. The move to suddenly drop the price of The Outer Worlds 2 is a clear sign that preorders haven't gone too well and that gamers are rejecting Microsoft's initial move to $79.99 Xbox games. If you've already purchased the game then refunds will be handled by the Microsoft Store, Steam, PlayStation store or wherever you preordered The Outer Worlds 2. It will be interesting to see whether Microsoft continues to push its new Xbox game pricing, or whether this is a sign that it's rethinking the increase to $79.99. Splitgate 2 retreats back into beta, aims for a 2026 re-release

After a rocky, controversial launch, Splitgate 2 is going back to the drawing board. In a post shared on Steam and social media, developer 1047 acknowledged player feedback and said 'we launched too early.' The team announced plans to revamp and overhaul the game by adding more portals, better monetization, and doubling down on classic game modes. This means the game is going 'back to beta,' according to the posts. Splitgate 2 will remain in a playable state, and the team still intends to ship chapter three along with major bug fixes. However, further development will slow until sometime in early 2026 when a more finalized version of the game is released. Recommended Videos Unfortunately, the news comes alongside layoff announcements. 'Rebuilding the core experience isn't a quick fix; it's a long-term commitment. To give ourselves the time to build the Splitgate you deserve, we've made the incredibly difficult decision to reduce certain roles and shift our resources to focus on this rework. This is heartbreaking. These are our teammates and our friends, and they helped build what we have today. They're receiving severance and job placement support, and we're committed to doing everything we can to help them through this transition. We hope to bring them back when we can.' To the Splitgate community, We believe in Splitgate 2. This game means everything to us – it's been our life for almost 10 years, starting in our dorm room, and we're more committed than ever to delivering the incredible experience you deserve. We've heard your feedback, and we… — Splitgate 2 – Beta (@Splitgate) July 22, 2025 The original Splitgate is also shutting down in a cost-saving attempt. The studio says it would like to keep the servers online indefinitely, but that it's prioritizing the team over the original game. 'Like us, we know this game means a lot to so many of you, so we are exploring the possibility of supporting offline or peer-to-peer matches.' A dedicated Splitgate 2 mode that closely resembles the gameplay of the first game has also been promised. The announcement demonstrates a dedication to the game and its community that sometimes feels rare in the modern landscape. 1047 is treating Splitgate 2 like a passion project rather than a simple cash grab and asks that players continue to provide feedback on changes and updates. 'Now more than ever, wqe need your help,' the studio says.

This single-player, horror action game takes players deep into the terrifying universe of the iconic franchise, and the first footage makes one thing clear, you're in for some serious bloody and gory torment. The trailer teases the game's disturbing story and grotesque atmosphere, promising a world steeped in pain and obsession. Horror legend Doug Bradley returns as the infamous Pinhead, delivering the chilling presence that made him a genre icon. This new chapter looks like it crawled straight out of the darkest recesses of hell itself, and for longtime fans, it's an absolute treat. The official synopsis sets the stage: 'Discover the tale of Aidan, who must unlock the dark powers of the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box, to help his girlfriend from a hellish abyss.
