Hit Netflix Show ‘Virgin River' Adds Two New Faces As It Makes History
Netflix's popular drama series Virgin River just shared a lot of great news with fans, with the series getting a Season 8 renewal and two new actors in the cast.
As fans celebrated the major renewal even before Season 7 premieres on the streamer, the show welcomed Sara Canning and Cody Kearsley to the cast as the characters Victoria and Clay, respectively.
🎬
Luckily for fans, Netflix shared some details about their characters, who will make their debut in Season 7. Canning's Victoria is an ex-cop shot in the line of duty. These days, she works as an investigator for the state medical board, and she comes to the town of Virgin River to investigate Doc (Tim Matheson) and his practice, running into an old friend along the way.
Kearsley's character Clay is athletic and rugged, described as "the kind of guy who gets noticed when he enters a room." He worked the rodeo circuit and is searching for his little sister, who he hasn't seen since he was a teenager in foster care.
Both new cast members might be familiar faces to fans, as Canning is most well-known for playing Jenna in The Vampire Diaries and Jacquelyn in A Series of Unfortunate Events, among other roles. Kearsley played Moose in Riverdale and appeared in another Netflix series called Daybreak.
Along with the new casting news, fans are celebrating the fact that Virgin River, with the confirmation of Season 8, will reportedly become the streamer's "longest-running live-action scripted series," according to Deadline, with eight seasons and 84 one-hour episodes total.

Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt expecting first child
Pete Davidson is going to be a dad. On Wednesday, editors at TMZ reported that the Saturday Night Live comedian and his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, were expecting their first child. A source told the outlet that Elsie is due to give birth in the winter. And a few hours later, the model-actress took to Instagram to confirm the news. "Welp now everyone knows we had sex," she wrote alongside a slideshow of photos of the couple. The 29-year-old also included a short clip showing her smiling during an ultrasound appointment as well as a close-up of a sonogram image. Pete, 31, and Elsie were first linked in March and reportedly moved in together two months later. And while The King of Staten Island actor has not yet commented on the baby news, an insider divulged to People that he is very excited to become a father. "They're both very nurturing people and are very, very happy together and to be starting a family," they shared with the publication. "They've been sharing privately with loved ones, and it's a really sweet time after everything Pete has overcome. He's so excited. He's always wanted to be a dad." Back in 2022, Pete also opened up about his desire to have a family one day. "My favourite thing ever, which I'm yet to achieve, is I wanna have a kid," he stated during an appearance on Kevin Hart's talk show, Hart to Heart. "It's super corny, but it would be so fun to dress up a little dude. I'm so excited for that chapter, so that's kind of what I'm just preparing for now, is trying to be like good as a dude and develop and get better, so when that happens, it's just easier."

Simone Biles wins top awards at 2025 ESPYs
Simone Biles won two trophies at the ESPYS on Wednesday night, including the Women's Best Athlete award. The 11-time Olympic medalist also claimed the night's first award, Best Championship Performance for her efforts at the Paris Games. She won three golds and a silver there while helping the US women's gymnasts win their first team title since 2016. She beat Stephen Curry, Freddie Freeman and Rory McIlroy to the prize. "That was very unexpected, especially in a category of all men," Biles said after kissing her husband, Chicago Bears footballer Jonathan Owens. "I'm honoured to receive this award. The recognition means more than you guys know. I would like to thank the people who have stood with me on this journey - my teammates, my competitors, my coaches, family and fans - who have lifted me up every step of the way. I wouldn't be standing here without all of you. "Having a strong support system that understands your dreams, who are willing to show up for you, not just when you're winning, but when you're struggling, too, is really important," Biles continued. "My sincere gratitude, appreciation and love to all of you who have stood with me on this magical journey, all the highs, lows, twists and turns along the way." The annual awards show, produced by ESPN since 1993, brought people across the sports world to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
