India will be represented by coach Crispin Chettri and midfielder Sangita Basfore in the draw ceremony. Sangita, who scored a sensational brace against Thailand in the final Qualifier, will
have the privilege of being one of the three draw assistants alongside Australia's Tameka
Yallop and Korea Republic's Jeon Yu-gyeong.
For the 21st edition of Asia's biggest women's national team event, twelve teams will be divided
into three groups of four each. India were one of the eight teams that secured their place in the tournament via the qualifiers, joining hosts Australia, and the top three finishers from the AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022 — China PR, Korea Republic, and Japan.
Scheduled to take place from March 1 to 21, 2026, the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026 will be staged across Sydney, Perth, and the Gold Coast, including in stadiums that witnessed the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, as the tournament returns Down Under for the first time since 2006.
Runners-up in 1980 and 1983, India will make their first appearance in the tournament since 2003 after a historic qualification campaign saw the Blue Tigresses emerge as toppers of Group B of the Qualifiers, defeating Thailand, Iraq, Timor-Leste, and Mongolia earlier this month.
For the pot allocations for the Final Draw, the seeding is based on the latest FIFA Women's World Ranking (as of June 12). India, ranked 70th, are placed in Pot 4, and will be drawn against either Australia, Japan, or DPR Korea from Pot 1, China, Korea Republic, or Vietnam from Pot 2, and Philippines, Chinese Taipei, or Uzbekistan from Pot 3.
The top two sides from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will progress to the quarter-finals. The four quarter-final winners will qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027. The losing quarter-finalists will contest the play-offs for the two remaining direct spots allocated to the AFC for the World Cup. The two play-off losers will have another chance of qualifying for Brazil via the inter-confederation play-offs.
As hosts, Australia will be designated as the top seed and occupy position A1.

Jalgaon, Aug 2 (UNI) The 38th National Under-11 Chess Championship was inaugurated with grandeur today at the picturesque Anubhooti Mandap in Jain Hills, Jalgaon. The championship is the result of joint efforts by the Jain Sports Academy, Jalgaon District Chess Association, Maharashtra Chess Association, and the All India Chess Federation, under the primary sponsorship of Jain Irrigation. A total prize purse of Rs 8 Lakhs has been announced, with cash awards extending beyond the champions and runners-up to commendable draws and performances across the board celebrating skill, sportsmanship, and strategic prowess. Warner fires Ashes jibe at England's Root
London, Aug 2 (UNI) David Warner said Joe Root will need to "take the surfboard off his front leg" if he and England are to succeed in Australia this winter. Warner, 38, is in England for a stint with London Spirit in The Hundred and while he is looking forward to calling Lord's home for a month, he could not resist a gentle dig at former Ashes rivals. England face Australia in the Ashes from late November, when they will attempt to win back the urn for the first time in 10 years. "The big anchor there is Rooty [England batter Joe Root], who is yet to score a hundred in Australia," Warner told BBC Sport. In reference to a perception that Root gets out lbw a lot, Warner said: "Josh Hazlewood tends to have his number quite a lot. He will have to take the surfboard off his front leg." Warner, who retired from international cricket last year, is set to make his Hundred debut in the tournament opener against Oval Invincibles on Tuesday. He could face Root's Trent Rockets at Lord's on August 14. Root is the number one Test batter in the world and crucial to England's hopes of winning the Ashes but has never scored a century in Australia. He has been dismissed 10 times in 18 Tests by Australia seamer Hazlewood - one fewer than the 11 times he has been dismissed by Australia captain Pat Cummins and India bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
