Coin collector issues £2 alert as he says value of one will 'blow your mind'
Brits have been urged to check their pocket money for three rare coins - and one could 'blow your mind'. The rarest of these collectible pieces might bring in a £1,000, an expert says.
However, you need to look out for specific years, and in one case, a sought-after error. In a video shared on TikTok, an expert called the Coin Collecting Wizard showed what to hunt for.
He explained the three valuable coins to his more than 250,000 followers, reports Lancs Live. "Have you got any £2 coins?" he asked.
"Check out these worth big money - the last one will blow your mind." First, he told viewers to look for a coin called the Commonwealth Northern Ireland.
Because of an extremely limited mintage, this can be worth up to £65 in excellent condition. He explained: "This £2 coin known as the Commonwealth Northern Ireland is the rarest £2 coin you can find in your change.
"With only 485,000 minted it is worth around £35 in uncirculated condition and £65 if brand new." This 2002 coin is one of four different designs, each showing a different flag for the four UK nations.
The Northern Ireland variant displays the Northern Irish flag on the reverse (tails side), alongside a moving figure holding a banner. Next, he discussed the 2011 King James Bible coin.
This coin features the opening words from the Book of John on its tails side. In the golden edge of the coin it reads "King James Bible" and "1611-2011". The expert continued: "Only 975,000 King James Bible £2 coins are out there in your change. Released in 2011 this is becoming scarcer to find but if you are lucky enough to find it then it is worth around £4 in circulated condition and £20 if brand new."
Topping his list was the Lord Kitchener coin with a specific error. "£1,000 for this £2 coin," he exclaimed. "Yes, I told you this one will blow your mind.
"This is the Lord Kitchener £2 from 2014 but you need to find a rare error version known as a mule error, which makes it worth a grand. If yours doesn't have the words 'two pounds' on the Queen's side then you have found the rare error."
This coin marks 100 years since the start of the First World War. In February last year, an example of this coin fetched £1,000 at auction.

The high street food giants have teamed up to create what they've described as the "culinary crossover of the century" - a Greggs classic sausage roll covered in KFC's famous gravy. Advertisement 2 Greggs and KFC have teamed up to launch a sausage roll with gravy 2 Fans will be able to get a sharing bucket for £10 of six sausage rolls And fans in London, Manchester and Newcastle will be able to get the new sausage roll for free over three days this week. They'll be handed out at the Southbank Centre in London on August 7, Manchester's Cathedral Gardens on August 8, and then in Newcastle's Times Square on August 9. The brands are also launching a sharing bucket of six Greggs sausage rolls and a large tub of KFC gravy. The bucket deal will be available for £10 on UberEats in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Birmingham on August 15 and 16. Advertisement The brands have claimed it is "the mash-up the nation's been craving", after Brits consumed 15,000 litres of KFC gravy and more than one million Greggs sausage rolls every day over the past year. KFC brand manager Phoebe Syms said: 'At KFC, we bleed gravy. We go to obsessive lengths for our liquid gold, and so do our fans. 'In fact, it was them who inspired this once-in-a-lifetime event, calling for us to partner with Greggs and unite our iconic gravy with their iconic sausage rolls. 'Now we're joining forces for just a few days to give the people a taste of what they really want … it's time for gravy to meet pastry. You're welcome.' Advertisement Greggs brand communications lead Fiona Mills said: 'With 96 layers of light puff pastry, and perfectly baked to give that satisfying golden crisp and flaky goodness, we've always known our sausage rolls are a true British icon. And why not pair one icon with another? 'We can't wait to see what Greggs and KFC fans make of our latest partnership. Greggs will raise prices next week in hikes branded a 'theft tax', as Sun reporters again witnessed brazen thefts across UK "We're sure fans of both brands will enjoy devouring their Greggs x KFC sharing bucket.' It comes after Greggs revealed a slump in profits last week as it was knocked by hot weather and caution among shoppers over their finances. Advertisement The Newcastle-based business revealed that pre-tax profits fell by 14.3% to £63.5 million for the half-year to June 28, compared with a year earlier. It said the first half of 2025 was impacted by 'challenging market footfall, more weather disruption than in 2024' and increased costs.# Other Greggs changes Greggs shut 56 of its stores in the first half of this year, it emerged last week, leaving it with 2,649 shops at the end of June. Some of the closures reported this year - 27 of which it said were "relocations" - include its branch in Ilford, East London, as well as Lancashire, Cambridge, and Buckinghamshire. Advertisement Meanwhile, the chain has opened 87 new stores this year, with bosses saying they hope to open between 140 and 150 new branches in 2025. The Sun recently reported that Greggs quietly axed one of its popular menu items, leaving fans heartbroken. The Mexican Chicken Oval Bite, with spiced chicken, salad and chipotle mayo, had been on the chain's menu for years,. But Greggs said it had been replaced with the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Oval Bite, which is "packed with slices of spicy chicken breast, pineapple chilli sauce, sliced mild Cheddar chilli cheese, crispy onions, spicy mayo and mixed leaves in a seeded roll". A poll of 2,000 adults found 34 per cent have missed a major live TV or sports moment because they weren't near a good enough screen to watch it properly. While 41 per cent have tried to catch big moments on the go using their phones, nearly half (46 per cent) admit to delaying the experience until they are home, just to get better screen quality. But that's just one of the sacrifices people are making to avoid TV spoilers. According to the poll, commissioned by Samsung to celebrate the launch of Galaxy Z Fold7, 27 per cent have sacrificed sleep to watch a season finale or live moment. Annika Bizon from Samsung UK & Ireland said: 'Whether it's reflecting on sports or a reality show twist, or the finale of your favourite drama, people want to experience big moments as they happen – not catch up later and risk spoilers. More than a fifth (22 per cent) would skip a night out to dodge a spoiler, seven per cent would miss a wedding and six per cent a friend's birthday party. Today's on-the-go viewers are becoming just as selective about their devices as they are about their watchlists. Top viewing frustrations being small screens (40 per cent), limited battery life (33 per cent), and poor sound (25 per cent). But there's a growing appetite for a device that can solve these pain points. A whopping 76 per cent say they'd be more likely to stream live content if their phone had a foldable, larger screen built for immersive viewing. Meanwhile, 30 per cent say screen quality ranks as 'very important' factor when choosing a new device.
