Kalki Koechlin Reveals She Was Once Asked To ‘Fix' Her Look With Botox
Kalki Koechlin opened up about the pressure to constantly maintain a youthful appearance and the scrutiny she faces over her looks. Kalki Koechlin, a powerhouse of talent, has never hesitated to speak her mind. In her latest interview, the actress opened up about the pressure to constantly maintain a youthful appearance and the scrutiny she faces over her looks. Despite this, Kalki refuses to let negativity affect her. Instead, she chooses to embrace her individuality and remain comfortable in her own skin, without conforming to society's narrow beauty standards. In conversation with Zoom, Kalki Koechlin recalled the time when casting directors would give her suggestions regarding her looks. Some asked her to dye her hair black and do an item number. Others commented on how she looks or her teeth. She said, 'A little later, I had a producer talk about botox; a little filler for the laughter lines. It was said casually, not that if you don't do this, you will not get the role. Then you can't play uncool and say, 'How dare you ask me to get botox?' You have to get over it, saying 'I'll not laugh so much'." Moreover, the actress also spoke about the adverse impact online trolling can have on one's mental well-being. She noted, 'People would casually comment about me on social media. I remember those affecting the way I looked at myself. I don't know if any amount of exposure or confidence, like sexual liberation, can protect you from their comments." Kalki Koechlin made her acting debut with the 2009 film Dev.D and has since built a diverse body of work across Hindi, English, and Tamil cinema. She is widely recognised for her roles in films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and more. Her last Hindi theatrical release was Goldfish in 2022. Kalki also played a pivotal role in the Tamil film Nesippaya. Most recently, she appeared in Arjun Varain Singh's coming-of-age drama Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, alongside Ananya Panday, Adarsh Gourav and Siddhant Chaturvedi. On the other hand, Kalki appeared as one of the leads in Made In Heaven 2. She plays the character Faiza Naqvi in the Prime Video franchise. Her next project, Bhay, is based on Gaurav Tiwari's horror stories. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
