India star Anush Agarwalla impresses at Holtkamper Dressurtage Grand Prix on new mount

The performance marked a significant milestone for Anush and Etro, who have been working together for just a few months. Their growing partnership was on full display as they executed a graceful and technically refined test, drawing praise from both judges and spectators.
'I am very proud of our performance together,' said Anush. 'Etro and I have learned a lot from each other in a short time. It's been months of hard work behind the scenes, and I'm happy we could showcase that today. While there's still room for improvement, this is a strong start to the season, and I'm excited to build from here.'
The pair will soon take their partnership to the international stage, competing at their first international show together—the CDI 3* in Lier, Belgium, later this week. Held at the renowned Azelhof Equestrian Centre, the Lier event is known for attracting top-level talent, and Anush is looking forward to the challenge.
'Competing internationally with Etro is something I've been looking forward to, and I'm very excited for what's ahead,' he added.
Agarwalla competed in the 2024 Summer Olympics, finishing 52nd in the Grand Prix discipline. He is the first Indian to take part in the dressage event of the Olympics.
One of the pioneers of Indian dressage on the global stage, Anush Agarwalla's latest performance is another step forward for him and the Indian equestrian.

Kolkata: Manolo Marquez thought he knew football in India. And then the national team happened. Manolo Marquez. (PTI) An ISL title followed by successive semi-final berths had made Marquez think that 'more or less I know Indian football'. By 2024, he also thought his 'capacity to improvise' was a lot better than when he first came to India as Hyderabad FC head coach in 2020. So, while on holiday in Canary Islands, Marquez applied for the national team's job after Igor Stimac was sacked. 'It was my dream,' he said. Soon, it curled leading to the mutual separation with All India Football Federation (AIFF) earlier this month. In eight matches as India head coach, five of them against countries lower in the FIFA ranking, Marquez had one win, four draws and three defeats. 'My time with the national team was very bad,' he told HT in a virtual interview from Goa on Saturday. 'The national team job is a black point in my career in India.' There were mistakes, he said. In his first press conference as India coach, Marquez said he had spoken of the need to find the correct group of players. 'But if you call 49 players in five FIFA windows, it means you never found the correct group. So, it's more about me.' Persuading Sunil Chhetri to end international retirement was not a mistake, he said. 'It was risky, yes. But we had problems in finding goals and he was scoring in ISL (Chhetri finished 2024-25 with 14 goals and two assists, the most by an Indian). He had a chance against Bangladesh and if he had scored, everything would have changed. Now, everyone can say that it was a mistake and I need to accept that. but I think that was not a mistake. He is a top professional and I was very satisfied to be able to count on him.' Could players have done anything different? 'I feel the players can arrive with more…' he paused, searching for the word. 'Pride. Pride to play in the national team.' 'This pre-season is different because everyone is nervous. My feeling is that ISL will happen but if it starts late there could be another consequence. You need 27 games to be eligible for Asian competition and a late start could mean matches every two, three days and that can be risky for the players.'

Lando Norris Takes Pole For F1's Belgian Grand Prix After Max Verstappen Wins Sprint
Lando Norris took pole position Saturday for Formula 1's Belgian Grand Prix after Max Verstappen won the sprint race earlier in the day. Norris set the fastest time early in the final session. His McLaren teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri couldn't quite beat it on his final run, taking second place, 0.085 of a second off Norris' pace. Charles Leclerc was third for Ferrari, with Verstappen fourth. The performance delighted Norris' mother Cisca, who is Belgian, as she made a heart gesture with her hands while watching from the McLaren garage. Norris is targeting his third straight win in a Grand Prix race and is the first McLaren driver on pole in Belgium since Jenson Button in 2012. 'The car has been been flying all weekend, Oscar has been doing a good job all weekend, so we're pushing each other a lot,' Norris said. 'It's tough because you see where your strengths and weaknesses are easily and you learn from each other quickly. It's a good but tough battle that we have at the minute.' Rain is expected for Sunday, setting up the prospect of another wet-weather battle between the two McLarens after Norris won a thrilling race at his home British Grand Prix. Norris said it could be a 'Silverstone-esque' race with plenty of chaos, or tricky conditions if only part of the circuit, the longest on the F1 calendar, gets wet and other areas stay dry. Lewis Hamilton's disappointing weekend continued with 16th in qualifying after his best lap time was ruled out because he'd strayed off track. The day before, the Ferrari driver was 18th in qualifying for the sprint race following a spin. Hamilton had declared Thursday it was 'crunch time' after struggling for much of his first season with Ferrari. Verstappen's teammate Yuki Tsunoda is set to start eighth, his best qualifying result of an otherwise disappointing time since joining Red Bull after two races of the 2025 season. Verstappen overtook Piastri and drove '15 qualifying laps' to win the sprint race at the Belgian GP as Red Bull begins a new era without fired team principal Christian Horner. Verstappen surged past Piastri on the straight on the first lap. The Australian was close behind Verstappen for the rest of the 15-lap sprint race but couldn't find a way past the four-time champion. Norris, in the other McLaren, was third after retaking the place from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and catching up to Piastri. 'You're keeping faster cars behind, so you have to drive over the limit of what you think is possible,' Verstappen said. 'Tire management is out of the window, so that's what's making it really difficult. I'm just doing 15 qualifying laps to try and keep them behind on a track where tire management is important.' It was Verstappen's first race win of any sort since the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in May, and his first in a sprint since the United States Grand Prix last October. Piastri extends his lead over Norris in the standings to nine points from eight. Verstappen is third, 68 points off the lead. Leclerc held on to fourth and it was an impressive result for Haas, with Esteban Ocon fifth and Oliver Bearman seventh. Carlos Sainz, Jr. was sixth for Williams and Isack Hadjar took the final point for Racing Bulls in eighth.
