Saif bin Zayed meets with Pakistani Interior Minister
ABU DHABI (WAM) His Highness Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, met with Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of Interior and Counter-Narcotics of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.The meeting discussed the strong historical relations between the two friendly countries and emphasised the keenness of the leaderships of both countries to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.The meeting also addressed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, discussing ways to enhance security coordination and exchange expertise, particularly in the areas of combating drugs and transnational organised crime.The meeting emphasised the importance of employing advanced technologies supported by artificial intelligence to address security challenges, contributing to consolidating security and stability at the national and regional levels.The meeting was attended by Major General Salem Ali Al Shamsi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Resources and Support Services at the Ministry of Interior; Major General Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police; Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director-General of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Security; Brigadier Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Federal Anti-Narcotics Department at the Ministry of Interior; and a number of officers, along with the Pakistani Interior Minister's entourage.
During the Pakistani delegation's visit to the Ministry of Interior, the delegation, headed by Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of Interior and Counter-Narcotics of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was briefed on the Ministry's customer visit monitoring operations room and the means and systems it provides for monitoring and evaluating police services, improving employee performance, and providing pioneering police services.

Abu Dhabi Police, in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Centre and as part of Darb Al Salama 2 campaign, released a video of an accident caused by driver distraction and lack of attention during a sudden halt in traffic. The video released Abu Dhabi Police on X account, shows a white SUV driving on the fast lane, oblivious to a long queue of stationary vehicles ahead. The driver tries to swerve to the right at the last moment, but fails. Instead, it crashes into another SUV in front of it, badly damaging it from the rear. In the same video, a black SUV on the fast lane crashes into an another vehicle in the adjacent lane, causing it to turn over on its side. The police warned drivers against the dangers of distractions, such as using mobile phones for browsing the internet, social media, making calls, taking photos, and other behaviours that can result in serious traffic accidents. Abu Dhabi Police reminded drivers that the penalty for being distracted while driving in any form is Dhs800 and 4 traffic points.

UAE summer: Fujairah Police warn parents against leaving kids unattended in vehicles
Fujairah Police launched a new traffic awareness campaign urging parents and guardians never to leave children alone inside vehicles — a move prompted by growing concerns over child safety during the summer months. The initiative, titled Your Children Are Your Responsibility – Don't Leave Them in the Vehicle Unattended, is part of the Ministry of Interior's third-quarter national safety drive, Summer Without Accidents. It addresses the serious risks children face when left unattended in parked cars, including suffocation and heatstroke due to rapidly rising interior temperatures — especially in the UAE's extreme summer heat. The goal is to promote a sense of community responsibility in preventing such accidents and to help achieve the highest levels of safety and protection for all, especially children, according to the authority. Colonel Saleh Mohammed Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police, stressed that the campaign's core message is to raise awareness among parents and drivers about the importance of never leaving children alone in vehicles under any circumstances. He also stressed the importance of following safety guidelines and complying with traffic laws, noting that the responsibility for protecting children is a shared one — starting with families and extending to all segments of society. Al-Dhanhani added that the department is committed to using a variety of awareness tools, most notably field messages and electronic flyers, in addition to collaborating with media outlets to disseminate warning messages. Dubai also highlighted the grave danger of leaving children unattended inside vehicles, warning that this behaviour can result in suffocation and death within minutes. In the UAE, under Article 35 of the Wadeema Law, leaving children unattended in vehicles is a punishable offence. Depending on the severity and circumstances, offenders may face a fine of up to Dh5,000 and/or imprisonment. In cases involving endangerment to life and safety, penalties can rise to Dh10,000 and/or jail time, based on the judge's discretion.

Abu Dhabi Police urge motorists to stay focused to avoid serious accidents
Abu Dhabi Police have released footage of accidents caused by motorists failing to slow down when traffic ahead of them is at a standstill. The video, shared on social media, shows drivers approaching busy traffic, before making sudden manoeuvres to avoid them and colliding with cars with other lanes. "Drivers are warned against the dangers of getting busy due to phone use to browse the internet, social media sites, making calls, taking photos and other behaviour that could lead to serious traffic accidents," police said in an Instagram post. Police also reminded drivers that the fine for being distracted while driving, in any form, is Dh800 ($218). Motorists will also receive four black points. The post came a day after motorists were urged to take care on the UAE's roads after an increase in the number of deaths from traffic accidents during the summer. The amount of people killed in summer road accidents in Dubai rose from 27 to 34 between 2023 and 2024. The figure was announced at a press conference to mark the emirate joining the UAE-wide annual summer road safety campaign.
