Enter the Justice Gang, a scrappy mix of metahumans made up of Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho.
In a recent interview with Collider, the actors behind these characters include Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, and Anthony Carrigan, and they talked about why their characters actually signed up for this new team, and it's not for truth, justice, or any noble cause.
Fillion's Guy Gardner isn't here to save the world. He just wants a bar. Fillion said: 'Corporate sponsorship. I think Guy Gardner has financial aspirations. He wants to open his own bar.'
Of course, he does. Gunn's take on Gardner is shaping up to be less about the galaxy-saving and more about the side hustle.
Gathegi's Mister Terrific? Turns out he's Just bored. The actor said: 'He's bored. It's something for me to do while I do other things.'
The deadpan delivery seems to fit Mister Terrific's hyper-intelligent, too-smart-for-this-world persona. Saving the day is just a hobby.
Merced's Hawkgirl just needed an outlet, and some legal protection. Merced explained: 'She needed a legal reason to let out her rage. A legal way to kick some ass.'
Sometimes you don't join a superhero team for the camaraderie. Sometimes, it's just court-approved anger management.
Carrigan's Metamorpho? Still waiting for the paperwork. 'I'm still waiting for the contract to show up.' Maybe he just wandered into the group and hasn't left.
Despite the wild motivations, Merced hinted that there's a real bond beneath the banter: 'There's deep respect in the group, and that's why they're so funny together.'
Gunn's Superman hits theaters July 11, 2025.

Years After George Clooney Asked Tabloids To Stop Publishing Photos Of His Kids, Amal Clooney Said She Takes Away People's Phones When They Visit Her Home To Maintain That Privacy
It's no secret that George and Amal Clooney are very strict about maintaining the privacy of their kids. Related: Last year, George — who shares 8-year-old twins Alexander and Ella with his wife Amal — opened up about why he doesn't want photographs of his children circulating online. 'I have a goal of trying to protect, I don't want pictures of my kids,' he said in a GQ interview. 'We deal in very serious subject matters, with very serious bad guys, and we don't want to have photos of our kids out there. So we have to work hard at trying to stay private, and it's tricky, as you can imagine.' Related: A few years prior, George penned an open letter to the Daily Mail and other publications requesting that they refrain from publishing photos of his 'children's faces.' He wrote, 'I am a public figure and accept the oftentimes intrusive photos as part of the price to pay for doing my job. Our children have made no such commitment.' Now, Amal has opened up further about the lengths she goes to in order to avoid having her children photographed by anyone — including friends and family, it seems. Related: Speaking with Glamour magazine this week, Amal revealed that she and George often opt to entertain their family and friends at their house — and they make sure to confiscate everyone's phones while doing so. 'Creating private moments and spaces is becoming increasingly difficult. But that's also why we entertain a lot at home. I now have a phone basket that I use to take everyone's phones away!' she shared. 'It's important to get that balance where you have time alone with your family and with your friends where people feel like you can have a safe and frank exchange. And I would say becoming a parent means you're more troubled by some of the intrusions,' she continued. Related: 'So we do the best we can to minimize any impact on our children.
