Suspended IAS officer Prasanth N accuses Kerala chief secretary of file tampering
In a strongly-worded Facebook post, Prasanth alleged that back-end manipulation of official e-office accounts was being carried out to illegally access files and suppress dissenting opinions. He claimed that on March 12, 2024, he first caught Jayathilak in the act of manipulating documents and has now released what he describes as proof to back his charges.
According to Prasanth, forged documents were being used to make it appear as though officers had seen and cleared files they never actually handled. He said this not only amounted to blatant violation of the IT Act - a cognizable offence - but also undermined transparency in key decisions involving crores of rupees.
Prasanth has been under suspension since November 2024 after making similar allegations against Jayathilak, who at that time was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary. More recently, on July 22, the state government appointed a two-member panel to probe complaints raised against Prasanth. With his latest salvo, sources say the inquiry panel now faces a tougher challenge.
The suspended officer specifically cited a case where his written opinion on a sensitive file was allegedly deleted to prevent it from reaching the minister concerned.

Yavat violence: Five cases lodged, 17 detained; police issue prohibitory order
The Pune rural police have lodged five offences and detained 17 people in connection with the communal tension and violence reported at Yavat village in Daund taluka on Friday. Additional Superintendent of Police Ganesh Biradar of Pune rural police issued a prohibitory order on Friday as per provisions of Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). As per the prohibitory order, gathering of five or more persons, holding any kinds of protests, rallies, religious and political events and carrying explosives, weapons, firearms, is banned in the jurisdiction of the Yavat gram panchayat, from 12 noon of August 1 to 12pm of August 3. The prohibitory order was passed in the wake of communal tensions and violence reported at Yavat after an alleged objectionable post went viral on social media on Friday. Sandeep Singh Gill, Superintendent of Police, Pune rural, told media persons that five cases have been registered in connection with the violence and 17 persons have been taken into custody for investigation. Gill said no villager was injured in the violence, but some structures and vehicles were damaged. Gill also said the situation is completely under control now and appealed to the citizens to follow prohibitory orders. A huge police force was deployed in Yavat for maintaing law and order. Police said there has been unrest in the region ever since a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was allegedly desecrated in Yavat on July 26. BJP leaders, Hindutva groups, and local villagers had taken out a rally to condemn the incident. The police held meetings with villagers, activists, and political leaders to pacify the situation and arrested the accused. On Friday, an objectionable social media status of a youngster on his Facebook and WhatsApp went viral. It sparked tension, following which a mob resorted to violence. Police teams fired tear gas on the protestors engaged in stone pelting and setting vehicles on fire in Yavat. Meanwhile, the person who had posted the objectionable status on social media was produced before a court on Saturday, which sent him to police custody till August 5.

Man held from Punjabs Amritsar for threatening Congress MP Randhawas son
Chandigarh, Aug 2 (PTI) A man was arrested from Punjab's Amritsar for allegedly threatening Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa's son, police on Saturday said. The preliminary probe, however, revealed no link with any gangster in the matter, they said. The accused, identified as Gagandeep Singh, made the threatening comments, police said. The senior Congress leader had on Friday alleged that jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria has threatened to kill his son. Batala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhail Qasim Mir said Gagandeep Singh hails from this city but was currently staying in Amritsar. The accused had made some objectionable and threatening comment on an Instagram post of Randhawa's son Udhayveer Singh. After taking up the matter with the Instagram authorities, it was found that the objectionable comments were made from Gagandeep's account, the SSP told reporters reporters in Batala. The accused was arrested from Amritsar, he said. The preliminary probe revealed that there was no link with any gangster in this case, said police, adding that 'it was an act of mischief". The SSP, however, said that this matter would be thoroughly investigated. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act, police said. Randhawa had said on Friday that Bhagwanpuria has threatened to kill his son. 'One of my associates met my son and within one hour of leaving, he was fired upon," he said in a post on X. The Congress leader had alleged that Bhagwanpuria was threatening people even from inside prison. The MP's associate had also stated that he too received one such call. Batala Police wrote to the jail authorities in Silchar, Assam, to have effective surveillance on Bhagwanpuria, the SSP said. Earlier in March, Bhagwanpuria was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under the PIT-NDPS Act and shifted from the Central Jail in Bathinda to Assam's Silchar jail. The gangster, who faces several other cases, was already in the custody of Punjab Police in the 2022 singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case. Burkina Faso's media regulator suspended Radio Omega for three months after it used the term 'junta' in a Facebook post deemed disrespectful to the military government read more A well-known radio station's licence was revoked by Burkina Faso on Saturday for allegedly derogatorily referring to the military government of the west African nation as a junta. Some local journalists have been driven into exile, and a number of media sites, notably France's LCI, RFI, and France 24, have been suspended in Burkina Faso after Captain Ibrahim Traore took control in a coup in September 2022. In a judgement released on Saturday, the Higher Council for Communication (CSC) of Burkina Faso declared that it was 'suspending Radio Omega's broadcasting licence for a period of three months.'
