LPG subsidy to stay, leakages to be probed
He said the ministry's task was to address LPG leakages through misappropriation and smuggling.
'We remain committed to providing LPG cylinder subsidies to the public. Fundamentally, this subsidy is for consumer use, a subsidy for the people's kitchens,' he told Young Syefura Othman (PH-Bentong) who sought clarification on whether the government would withdraw the subsidy.
Although the subsidy is primarily for household consumers, Armizan said it also benefits micro and small businesses, particularly in the food and beverage sector.
'For this reason, the food and beverage sector must ensure that prices remain reasonable for the public,' he added.
He said that the legal aspects specifically concerning the use of LPG by small traders will be detailed in amendments to the Control of Supplies Regulations (Import Prohibition) 2021.
The Control of Supplies Regulations (Amendment) 2021 limits the ownership and use of subsidised LPG exceeding 42kg at any one time without a scheduled controlled goods permit.

'Since the beginning, BN Sabah has consistently emphasised the need to form a government that is truly stable, inclusive, and focused on the people — not one that depends on temporary arrangements or political manoeuvring,' he said. KPDN to enhance royalty management for musicians and artistes
KOTA KINABALU: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is taking steps to strengthen the royalty management framework for musicians and artistes in Malaysia. The initiative aims to safeguard their earnings from artistic works through improved governance and transparency. Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, the minister overseeing KPDN, highlighted the introduction of Guidelines for Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) under Section 27M of the Copyright Act 1987. These guidelines, enforced by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), focus on advocacy, compliance, and fair royalty distribution. 'My goal is to ensure the rights of all parties, especially artistes and musicians, are protected and upheld,' Armizan said in a Facebook post. 'Too many end up struggling later in life, and the government must not be seen as neglecting its responsibility to establish a clear and comprehensive legal framework.' MyIPO holds the authority to issue operational guidelines to registered CMOs, which manage royalty rights on behalf of copyright holders. However, Armizan noted that a small group has filed for judicial review, naming KPDN, MyIPO, and the minister as respondents. Despite legal challenges, Armizan remains committed to ensuring musicians and artistes receive long-term income from their works. Ministry to ensure SARA aid recipients get wider access to essential items

Its minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said KPDN had proposed that recipients be allowed to use their SARA aid at mobile Jualan Rahmah MADANI Programme (PJRM) locations, in addition to existing participating retailers. He said at present, recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid could only purchase basic items at 4,152 participating supermarkets and retail outlets across the country, including 470 in Sabah. 'This initiative enables SARA recipients, particularly in rural and interior areas, to use the aid credited to their MyKad to make purchases at mobile PJRM locations,' he told reporters after launching the Sabah Zone KPDN Carnival 2025 here on Saturday night. Armizan said the additional RM300 million allocation for PJRM would enable KPDN to increase its frequency nationwide, with a target of 20,000 series throughout this year. 'For Sabah, KPDN is targeting 2,276 PJRM series throughout this year, and as of July 26, a total of 1,089 have already been implemented. We will adopt several approaches to ensure the target is achieved by year-end,' he said. He said the approaches included increasing the range of items offered and enhancing cooperation with strategic retail partners. 'Through these improvements, the people will have more choices. The ministry can no longer act alone as it did in the past. For example, today's PJRM is carried out in collaboration with retail partners,' he explained. Commenting on Saturday's programme, this was the second year KPDN had implemented the programme, adding that six carnival tours would be held across the country this year. 'The carnival in Ranau, held in conjunction with the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM), is the second in the series this year, and we expect around 60,000 visitors throughout the three-day event,' he said. Armizan said that the main goal of the initiative was to bring government services, particularly those under KPDN, closer to the people, especially at the grassroots level. 'The KPDN Carnival 2025 also serves as a catalyst in empowering KBBM through the theme 'Jom Beli Lokal' as part of ongoing efforts to support local products and strengthen the domestic economy. It is also a strategic move to boost domestic economic growth while helping local entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises expand their market reach. 'At the same time, this initiative provides a platform to showcase the quality of local products, which can become the preferred choice and ultimately reduce reliance on imported goods,' he said. — Bernama
